The common denominator is football. It tends to attract people who aren’t the brightest bulbs in the chandelier. When you get a truly intelligent person in football, they tend to go far.

Speaking of that, whatever happened to the BYU-P booster guy who was reviewing their replays and throwing calls in their favor? Is he at the bottom of Utah Lake or something?

I hereby provide notice that any future sports franchise in Utah that names itself the Salt Lake Brine Flies will earn a season ticket purchase from me, regardless of what sport you play and the level you play it at. Thank you.

Wielding the statistics degree I haven’t used in years, I crunched the Massey numbers provided above. We have a 13.2% chance of winning out the season. Can’t give you the number that includes the PAC12 championship game because the opponent is unknown.

They say you’re never as good as your best win (Stanford) and you’re never as bad as your worst loss (Wazzu). While we’re favored in our remaining games, the chances of running the table are slim. I say we drop 2 more and win the rest.

From what I’ve read, it sounds like the PAC12 employs an unofficial official at games involving “playoff candidate” teams to ensure that they get favorable treatment so as to bolster the PAC12’s chances at a playoff spot.
Obviously this is beyond the pale and Larry Scott should be done. -

I smell a BYU-P statistic coming on…
“We’re going to lose this week because Utah has allowed 300 yards rushing every time they’ve played Arizona on a Friday night while wearing white pants.”
Sorry but the past has no bearing on the present. And I see no way we lose to an awful Arizona team this week. -
GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic What to expect the rest of the season. in the forum Football 6 years, 3 months ago
My logic is this: Football is a game of percentages. It’s all about how likely the offense is to get what they need on each play (be it a touchdown, first down, positive yardage, or whatever). Right now, I’d say you’re more likely to get what you need against Utah by throwing as opposed to running. So the more often you throw and the less often…[Read more]

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think we match up better against Oregon than Wazzu. While Oregon having a run game in addition to a throw game seems like a potent combo on the surface, I think it makes them less dangerous because it implies they will try to run. That will mean negative yardage on early downs, hence 3rd and longs.

I have a story that will lend credence to this.
I recently moved a few blocks away. I used the move to downsize our family’s amount of junk accumulated over the years. One of the things we’d ended up with was an antique Hammond organ that had belonged to my grandma. I decided to sell it on KSL, priced far below appraised value so I could get rid…[Read more] - Load More
