12 TDs & 12 picks in general is not a good ratio, but 12 TDs & 12 picks along with 19 rushing TDs is absolutely outstanding!
Not sure why everyone is always so fixed on stats. If the odds of scoring within the Redzone are higher by running the ball than by passing, you run the damn ball. Its not brain surgery here. Dampier is a hell of a runner. Why have him pass when he can score running. Had he not run the ball for a 19 TDs, he may have had 31 TD passes. Then, all of a sudden the stats work for those of you worried about the TD vs INT ratio.
And my final add, some of you who jumped on the “We need to go after Noah Fifita” when it was thought he entered the portal, check his “stats” compared to Dampier. Very similar, minus the 1166 yards rushing offense.
Dampier is someone that if he comes to Utah, will be a game changer. He has 2 more years to play and will only get better.
Also, ran the ball a lot without injury. Not many Ute QBs can say that the past few years.

Well, I am headed to State College next week for the Penn State vs Ohio State game. So that is my pick.

It appears to me that real Offensive Coordinator the last several years has been Cam Rising. Think about it for a minute. When Cam Rising doesn’t play the offense is stagnant no matter who the QB is or the team the Utes played. Is it because Rising is calling an audible at the line and changing the play that Ludwig called? Yes, he was in EVERY game. The more I watch the Utes without Rising at QB, the more I am convinced that he made a very average OC appear to be a genius. Let Rising call the plays the rest of the season from the press box, it damn sure can’t be worse.

Curious about one thing from the presser. When asked if Rising will continue to travel with the team, Whitt said “that is yet to be determined. If he travels, someone else can’t because there is a limit to how many players they can take on a road game.”
So here is my question, I thought it was announced that CB Kenzel Lawler hit the transfer portal as an early graduate? He travelled and was suited up on the sideline Saturday at USC. Is he not entering the portal or did he decide to stay?

Sione Vaki has definitely been the spark on offense that the Utes have needed. I would love to see him a bit more on offense and maybe a bit less on defense. I think Ritchie, Hall and Allen can fill in more. As for making a decision next year, lets not forget that Vaki has served an LDS mission therefore eligible for the NFL draft in April if he so choses to take that route. I personally would love to see Rising, Kuithie, and Vaki return next year along with Jackson and Bernard. With the O-line returning, the Utes Offense would be absolutely deadly as well as the defense.

TE Dallen Bentley? I assume he has been injured as everybody seems to be? I thought he was coming in from Snow College to make an immediate impact.

I 100% do not understand all of the hate on Barnes. Dude is a decent QB who would be a starter in a lot of other programs. I think people don’t like him because he is a walk on and not some “4 star” from California. I have no doubt that if Barnes played his high school football in Cali, he would have been a 4 star QB. Unfortunately, he went to Milford HS and everyone thinks he can’t play with the big boys. When he played last week against Florida, of the holier than though “SEC”, he did a fantastic job throwing AND running the ball. Although I would like to have seen him play more, I also understand trying to get Johnson some play time too. The so called fans of football need to understand that Rising is coming off a major surgery. If he reinjures his knee, Barnes is the guy. If Barnes gets injured, Johnsons the guy with a true freshman backup. As for the 2 QB system, it has proven to not be successful if the QBs are the same. If you have a runner like Johnson, it can 100% be successful. Think Cordell Stewart with the Steelers in the 90’s. That spark for the offense can be amazing. Sorry to those of you who have no idea who Cordell Stewart is. From my user name “Oldskool”

100% what Sanders said. Whittingham, as well as every good coach will tell you, you play the game to win the game. Barnes gives you the best shot at winning. If the game is in hand or Barnes struggles, you may see Rose or you may see Botarri. I understand building for the future, but that is what practice is for not games. It’s a sad day that college football has gotten to the point when we need to stroke our freshman or redshirt freshman players so they wont leave. Obviously the portal has made this worse. Immediate gratification seems to be the norm in all aspects of life instead of the idea working for something. Bring back the days where all college freshman were redshirted.

Well, if there is not a red squiggly line under the word, isn’t it spelled correctly? Cordell / Kordell. 🙂
