This is the second time that I’ve seen Erickson airball a FT. He did it last year as well. I’m almost 60 years old and have been watching organized basketball since the mid-70s and had never seen another player do that, either in the pros or college.

The Keita I saw last night was essentially no different than the Keita I saw during the 22-23 season. That should tell you all you need to know. In today’s version of professional basketball, at any level, there’s little to no role for a player that has zero offensive game.

I’ve watched the NBA and NCAA for almost 50 years and have seen many guys like Keita. He’s what’s known as a “gold brick”, essentially a guy who looks the part and has all of the physical measurables but, unfortunately, doesn’t have the requisite skills or innate basketball IQ to deliver what’s expected of him. I hope he’s taking BYU for the…[Read more]

Jim, my view is that unless you already have a solid, veteran team, these “one and done” guys won’t be able to move the needle much. You certainly won’t be able to win the NCAAs if your roster is composed primarily of one and done players. BYU supposedly has two lottery picks and another player with 1st RD grades. Yet, what I saw last night on…[Read more]

It seemed like there were a lot fewer BYU fans at this game compared to the one last year.
Anyways, once again, this was a game, like many last season, that Utah should have won easily in regulation if the Utes were a mediocre FT shooting team. At the end of the game, BYU’s defense was reduced to a “Hack-a-Lovering” or “Hack-a-Auser” and it…[Read more]

To me, the most shocking thing about D. Smith is that, despite missing a portion of the season, he set the PAC record for triple-doubles in a season. When you think of all the Hall of Famers that have played in that conference, it’s just crazy to know that no other player had more triple-doubles than Smith. And, no one will ever be able to take…[Read more]

I don’t know about that. I don’t recall the team really accomplishing anything when Worster was getting major minutes. On the other hand, you could make a solid case that Smith was the only reason why last season’s team made it to the NIT Semis. Do you know why Worster transferred to Nebraska?

I can only imagine where this team would be if Smith hadn’t transferred to Saint John’s. Certainly better than 10-6 at this point of the season. Smith, by the way, is having a good season with the Johnnies, averaging almost 11 PPG/6 RBG/4 APG on 28 Minutes a night.

Well, I’m feeling a hell of a lot better going into Saturday’s game versus the TDS. If Utah easily handled a TCU team that beat BYU, we might have a shot on Saturday.

Oh my Lord!!! Why hasn’t Dawes been playing regularly? Seems like a tough ask to guard him.

Thumbs up but I hope that you didn’t jinx us. I will admit that I’m very pleasantly surprised to see Utah in control in an arena that BYU lost in last Saturday night. Maybe once Utah gets its second wind in the conference their decided length advantage over the vast majority of teams will pay some dividends.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Assuming Deion takes an NFL job . . . in the forum Football 5 days, 14 hours ago
This hire would get my thumbs up because it would be an absolute and total disaster. I mean, there’s a reason why Bienemy hasn’t ever gotten a sniff of a head coaching job and why his stock drops further down every season. Why would anyone give him a job when he was just fired as the OC of a 5-7 UCLA team?

Mike McCarthy got fired by FIU at the end of the season. 😆, maybe he’s willing to give the Colorado HC gig another try?

Colorado is royally screwed if Sanders leaves now. One, every decent available head coach is spoken for. Two, there’s no coach out there that brings the combination of star power and ability to relate young black athletes in one package. Three, every player either present now in Colorado or incoming will jet to another destination. I could…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Hot Off the Press: Deion Sanders Leaving Colorado for Vegas Raiders? in the forum Football 1 week ago
Possibly, but a lot of people said the same thing when he was hired by Jackson State and Colorado. However, both those schools saw their fortunes turned around almost immediately by his sheer presence.

From Jeremy Fowler, ESPN NFL reporter:
Another thing worth knowing: When I polled league executives on Colorado coach Deion Sanders’ prospects as an NFL head coach, they were nearly unanimous that Las Vegas would be the best — and possibly only — fit. The bright lights and the Davis family’s propensity for splash would coalesce with Sanders,…

Yeah, this is one of the 4-5 conference wins I have penciled in. Going into this game, Oklahoma State, though they already had one conference win, looked like the team most likely to lose to Utah. I really don’t like their chances in their next game @ TCU (who beat BYU today as well) on Wednesday and we’ll see what happens next Saturday versus BYU.
