The Miami Ute replied to the topic Lawson Lovering to the Transfer Portal? in the forum Basketball (Men) 14 hours, 46 minutes ago
LOL…that would really be a unique approach. But, when lawyers and agents get involved, anything is possible. Essentially, they’d be trying to convince the decision-makers that common sense doesn’t apply when it comes to “student-athletes.” Gotta love it. I’m not blaming Lovering for anything, since he’s just following his interest, but, in…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Big XII vs SEC in the Dance in the forum Basketball (Men) 16 hours, 51 minutes ago
Honestly, I don’t keep track of anything related to the Big 12. I personally don’t feel any connection to those schools and that’s never going to change. It’s unfortunate but that’s just the way it is. In fact, I feel way more of a connection to other schools in the Mountain West (like Utah State, Wyoming, Colorado State, etc..) than anything…[Read more]

Dorian Singer also thought that he’d get another year and that was denied, wasn’t it? I guess that this is another one of those cases where a player tries to push the envelope to see where it takes him. Again, personally I can’t see how this gets approved when Lovering played major minutes in all four of his college seasons. Even in his…[Read more]

LOL, just ten years? If he continues to hit at that rate he’ll be on the court until his 40s.

I’m not certain what his take is. He’s played four full college seasons without ever redshirting and he doesn’t qualify for a extra Covid year. My understanding is that Lovering is entering the portal as a graduate student, and will seek a medical hardship waiver for an additional year of NCAA eligibility and will also consider returning to the…[Read more]

That’s awesome….I hope that he’s a late bloomer and finds his niche in the league.

Great idea…but wasn’t Jensen a freshman in 94-95 before going on a 2-year mission?

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Reports: Utah NHL team (Mammoth?) has selected permanent name in the forum NHL 5 days, 9 hours ago
A pox on your house…honestly though, they picked a nationally televised game to put on their worst performance of the season. I’m sure Tourigny will be letting them know that their effort tonight was not acceptable. It was almost as if they couldn’t be bothered to exert themselves.

Looks like Mammoth has leaked as the new team name. I was hoping that they would stay as the UHC but Mammoth wasn’t far off from being my personal favorite.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Alex Jensen Presser in the forum Basketball (Men) 5 days, 17 hours ago
I don’t know if everyone got one…there was just one table manned by students with, I don’t know, maybe 40-50 shirts of every size laid out on it. But you’re right, if Alex turns into the second coming of Majerus, those T-shirts might become collectors’ items. One thing that does kind of scare me given Alex’s vast NBA experience and…[Read more]

That’s what I say…maybe a 1000…as you alluded to, I think the fact that it took place on a workday and started just after most people would be getting off work kind of limited attendance. I noticed A LOT of people of retiree age in the crowd. I was in the second row and there were plenty of spots available for seating. I’m glad though that…[Read more]

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Wahlin in the portal…says he'll talk with Jensen and others in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 week, 1 day ago
You know what’s a dumb take Rusty? Thinking that Wahlin is more than what he’s shown over the last two seasons, which is a role player. I don’t know if you actually read my comment or if you went from zero to crazy in a second, but I did start by saying that I indeed wanted Wahlin to be back.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Wahlin in the portal…says he'll talk with Jensen and others in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 week, 1 day ago
Look, I want Wahlin to be back but I’m not going to get broken up over a guy who’s stat line is 6 PPG, 5 RPG, and 1 APG. Those stats have “role player” written all over them. My biggest concern about his departure is his leaving when he’s a local guy about to be coached by a local legend that just happened to play his position.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Dorian Singer not expected to return for another year in the forum Football 1 week, 3 days ago
He started college in 2021, didn’t redshirt during any season, and because of that, he’s not eligible for any Covid-19 extension. It’s the same issue with a guy like Lawson Lovering in the MBB.

You beat me to the comment. It’s the most hideous looking court I’ve ever seen. I mean, you have to be blind not to be affected by it.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Luke Bottari returns to Utah as offensive graduate assistant in the forum Football 2 weeks ago
You have to wonder how the Utes would have looked if he had a bit more game time during the season. His running ability really threw Iowa State for a loop during the short time that he was in the game.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic I love Gabe Madsen but his game is too narrow focused on the 3. in the forum Basketball (Men) 2 weeks ago
It doesn’t help that the team commits so many turnovers. Last night, 17 turnovers, was typical of the season. The Utes continually gift opposing teams large numbers of possessions which translate into more points. Hopefully, Jensen’s teams will be more disciplined from the get-go.

We are officially a skiing DYNASTY…if it wasn’t for last year’s fluke loss to Colorado, Utah would be on a six year winning streak.
