Holladay Ute replied to the topic Wonder what Scalley is thinking in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Did you listen to it? I’m only questioning b/c I posted it at 9:36 and you responded at 9:41. It was a five minute video segment that I was highlighting. Maybe you were sitting there waiting for responses and so you saw my response immediately after I posted it and then immediately loaded the link, immediately found the segment I highlighted,…[Read more]

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Wonder what Scalley is thinking in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Everyone on here should listen to five minutes of this interview (specifically from 16:30-21:30). Curious to hear if this changes anybody’s speculation about what’s going on behind the…[Read more]

Will be interesting to see where things go for them. Although, I would say our situation is not as dire as theirs…

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Whittingham likely not retiring in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
I don’t think this is enough information to form opinions or conclusions. Based on my experience on this website, I feel like the reliability of a lot of these sources ends up being spotty. I also have a source that is theoretically very close to the program (I’d bet as close as whoever the sources on here are). I never post anything I get from…[Read more]

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Sione Fotu to the portal in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
This one is a downer, but it’ll be hard to keep all the guys you want to keep. It seems like the most important ones have been staying. It’s not like Fotu was incredible for us.

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Utah is now 0 for 2 on OC candidates. in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
This isn’t surprising. And I’m not sure it increases the level of concern either (at least relative to where we were already at). Of course Oklahoma is going to beat us out for an OC. As for Texas Tech, definitely more of a bummer, but why wouldn’t he go there unless Utah was willing to offer meaningfully more money? And I would be a little…[Read more]

I’m cautiously optimistic about where we’re headed.
In terms of recruiting, our overall rank is currently #38 on 247 (a few spots higher if you go by average rating). Historically, we’ve been in the #30-40 range and done very well w/ that kind of talent. We did miss out on getting a marquee guy like we’ve had in so many past recruiting classes…[Read more]

Most Boise State fans I’ve met share my disdain for BYU. So I guess they’re my friends.

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Joel Klatt with objective evaluation of The Call in the forum Football 2 months, 1 week ago
I don’t buy this. You’re telling me some random former NFL referee re-watched the entire game and graded every route just b/c? And he didn’t find a single route where similar contact was made, i.e. the refs were perfect in what is the most difficult part of the game to referee? Has there ever been a game anywhere where referees perfectly…[Read more]

Holladay Ute replied to the topic It was an obvious hold in the forum Football 2 months, 1 week ago
What Joel Klatt said about it is how I feel about it. I think that call could go either way and is ultimately a subjective flag in a gray area. Obviously, as a Utah fan, I’m biased to think that this is a super ticky-tacky call. I feel like plays like this happen all the time in football. A BYU fan will say it’s a “textbook” hold. Clearly,…[Read more]

If you were a BYU fan, just think about this…your best team in 15 years barely beat what is arguably our worst team in 10-15 years and…
1) Our backup QB was making his first career start.
2) We switched OCs three weeks ago.
3) They scored a kickoff TD. Credit to them on a great play, but these are always pretty fluke.
4) Two gift-wrapped INTs…[Read more] -
Holladay Ute started the topic Hope this game was a spark to get our program back on track in the forum Football 2 months, 2 weeks ago
I’m proud of our team. We were all worried about a blowout, right? We showed some real fight in this game. I think we learned that A) Utah is better than its record and B) BYU isn’t as good as its record. There’s always going to be critiques. Were we too conservative in the second half? Should we have used our timeouts at the end of the…[Read more]

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Folks hating on Ludwig in the forum Football 3 months ago
The terrible performance from the O-line probably decimated Ludwig’s entire game plan. I would imagine he was counting on being able to run the ball at least somewhat efficiently (say around 5 yards per carry). Instead, they gave him less than 3 yards per carry and allowed 4 sacks. To a bad defense. That’s just impossible for anybody to…[Read more]

Lucky win. OSU should’ve blitzed more to make him get the ball out faster. I can’t believe they let that slip away.
Man, I freaking hate BYU. The stars have aligned for them so far this year. Favorable schedule. Minimal injuries. Seem to catch a lot of breaks (OSU injuries, converting on 4th & 8, etc.). Give them credit, but they’re…[Read more]

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Handling of QB situation in the forum Football 3 months, 1 week ago
Also, I’ll clarify that I’m obviously not arguing that the coaching staff hasn’t made some of the biggest head-scratching mistakes you’ve ever seen in the last couple of weeks.
But you’re telling me that Isaac’s parents are communicating to and confiding in an 18-year-old how they’re feeling about the team that their son is currently playing for…[Read more]

Holladay Ute replied to the topic Handling of QB situation in the forum Football 3 months, 1 week ago
I wouldn’t be surprised if they were a little frustrated and second guessing some things, but this seems overblown to me. The Wilson family wasn’t even expecting Isaac to play this year. You’re telling me they’re mad that he had to play against Oklahoma State and Arizona? No way. Isaac himself has said, “I prepare to play every week as if I am…[Read more]

We’re going to learn a lot about this team on Saturday: 1) Has Whitt lost the locker room or will all these guys still play for him? 2) How does Isaac play now that he knows he’s QB1? Will he be a spark that gives the team energy and juice? 3) Can Ludwig find some success in the red zone? 4) If there’s no improvement in the red zone, what are…[Read more]

Holladay Ute replied to the topic OFFICIAL: Wilson will be the starter in the forum Football 3 months, 1 week ago
I’m not sure what to think. They’re obviously doing the right thing and so I’m happy we’re finally moving forward decisively. I just worry it’s too little, too late. They should’ve made this decision at halftime against ASU. Everybody knew that (each of us, Dorian Singer, Brant Kuithe, everyone at ASU, etc.). If they had, we might still…[Read more]

Every school has a level of prestige. Didn’t you play any of the NCAA video games haha??? I didn’t say Utah is a “prestigious” school. I just said that they’re more prestigious than BYU…which I think is true at this point in time.
I am surprised that everyone on here is saying BYU has a better program than Utah. A program is built over…[Read more]
