  • I don’t buy this. You’re telling me some random former NFL referee re-watched the entire game and graded every route just b/c? And he didn’t find a single route where similar contact was made, i.e. the refs were perfect in what is the most difficult part of the game to referee? Has there ever been a game anywhere where referees perfectly…[Read more]

  • What Joel Klatt said about it is how I feel about it. I think that call could go either way and is ultimately a subjective flag in a gray area. Obviously, as a Utah fan, I’m biased to think that this is a super ticky-tacky call. I feel like plays like this happen all the time in football. A BYU fan will say it’s a “textbook” hold. Clearly,…[Read more]

  • If you were a BYU fan, just think about this…your best team in 15 years barely beat what is arguably our worst team in 10-15 years and…
    1) Our backup QB was making his first career start.
    2) We switched OCs three weeks ago.
    3) They scored a kickoff TD. Credit to them on a great play, but these are always pretty fluke.
    4) Two gift-wrapped INTs…[Read more]

  • I’m proud of our team. We were all worried about a blowout, right? We showed some real fight in this game. I think we learned that A) Utah is better than its record and B) BYU isn’t as good as its record. There’s always going to be critiques. Were we too conservative in the second half? Should we have used our timeouts at the end of the…[Read more]

The terrible performance from the O-line probably decimated Ludwig’s entire game plan. I would imagine he was counting on being able to run the ball at least somewhat efficiently (say around 5 yards per carry). Instead, they gave him less than 3 yards per carry and allowed 4 sacks. To a bad defense. That’s just impossible for anybody to…[Read more]

  • This is definitely our worst team since the Mountain West days.

Lucky win. OSU should’ve blitzed more to make him get the ball out faster. I can’t believe they let that slip away.

Man, I freaking hate BYU. The stars have aligned for them so far this year. Favorable schedule. Minimal injuries. Seem to catch a lot of breaks (OSU injuries, converting on 4th & 8, etc.). Give them credit, but they’re…[Read more]

  • Also, I’ll clarify that I’m obviously not arguing that the coaching staff hasn’t made some of the biggest head-scratching mistakes you’ve ever seen in the last couple of weeks.

But you’re telling me that Isaac’s parents are communicating to and confiding in an 18-year-old how they’re feeling about the team that their son is currently playing for…[Read more]

  • I wouldn’t be surprised if they were a little frustrated and second guessing some things, but this seems overblown to me. The Wilson family wasn’t even expecting Isaac to play this year. You’re telling me they’re mad that he had to play against Oklahoma State and Arizona? No way. Isaac himself has said, “I prepare to play every week as if I am…[Read more]

  • Holladay Ute started the topic Saturday in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago

We’re going to learn a lot about this team on Saturday: 1) Has Whitt lost the locker room or will all these guys still play for him? 2) How does Isaac play now that he knows he’s QB1? Will he be a spark that gives the team energy and juice? 3) Can Ludwig find some success in the red zone? 4) If there’s no improvement in the red zone, what are…[Read more]

  • I’m not sure what to think. They’re obviously doing the right thing and so I’m happy we’re finally moving forward decisively. I just worry it’s too little, too late. They should’ve made this decision at halftime against ASU. Everybody knew that (each of us, Dorian Singer, Brant Kuithe, everyone at ASU, etc.). If they had, we might still…[Read more]

  • Every school has a level of prestige. Didn’t you play any of the NCAA video games haha??? I didn’t say Utah is a “prestigious” school. I just said that they’re more prestigious than BYU…which I think is true at this point in time.

I am surprised that everyone on here is saying BYU has a better program than Utah. A program is built over…[Read more]

  • These are fair points. But…
    1) Kalani Sitake isn’t exactly a great HC. He’s been mediocre at best during his entire BYU tenure. And I’d be surprised if the age factor was that important.
    2) I agree, they wouldn’t give him the $2M right away, but I bet it’d be more than the $1M he’s making at BYU. And if they really wanted him, I think they’d…[Read more]

  • I’m more optimistic, primarily b/c I still believe we have a talented roster.
    1) I don’t know the extent of the injuries, but I would hope we get Reid, O’Toole, Tanuvasa, etc. back before BYU.
    2) We almost couldn’t have played worse offensively in either of the last two games and, as crazy as it sounds, we could’ve won those games if a few…[Read more]

  • I don’t think that’s true Miami. I’m pretty sure he would not hesitate to jump to Utah.
    1) Utah can likely pay him quite a bit more money. Scalley is making $2Mish per year, right? From what I’ve read, Jay Hill makes about $1M.
    2) Even though BYU is having a better year than us (which has been the case like once every 5+ years for the last two…[Read more]

  • Agree w/ this. I’d be excited to see what, if anything, Scalley would do differently than Whitt (mainly on offense, of course).

  • Aside from his ridiculous response about why they didn’t bench Cam, I appreciated what Whittingham said after the loss. At least they know what the main problems are (red zone offense, poor tackling, etc.) and aren’t shying away from that. That’s a positive. The bigger negative is that we’ve known those were problems for weeks and they haven’t…[Read more]

  • 100% agree w/ everything you said.

  • Haha I can’t sleep. No worries man. I have no criticism for people who weren’t confident in tonight and thought this might be the outcome. No issues w/ people having lower expectations. It helps me temper my optimism. I wasn’t loving (and still don’t love) the Cam hate or the calls to fire Whitt. But hey, everyone is entitled to their…[Read more]

  • He has made some big mistakes in the last couple of years (although we don’t know everything that happened behind the scenes). And he has yet to prove that he can lead a #1 team in the conference (great as the hunter, not as the hunted). But…

It’s also been a unique 1-2 years w/ all the injuries. How many coaches could digest the amount of…[Read more]
