I gave up my season tickets two years ago now. Really happy with that decision. The product isn’t worth the $$$ whatsoever. I agree, can’t even keep track of who is on the team anymore.

I blame Coach K for pretty much all of the apathy. But, probably not the way most people blame him. I think he is a really good coach. But, he has not been recruiting the players that fit his style of play/willing to deal with his personality whatsoever. I think he has stars in his eyes, but that shouldn’t be his approach. Now he has 100% say in who is being recruited…..so again, I give him all the blame.

Maybe the only way he learns this lesson is to be fired (although boosters are not going to pony up the $$$ to fire him, it’s a very substantial amount). I don’t want that to happen, he is a good coach.

Another problem is our local media. They refuse to actually call him out for the last several years. You cannot have several straight “rebuilding years” and the continual “next year” BS. It’s unacceptable.

Coach recruits the players that he also runs off…..and he should have to answer to that. Our local media is not up to task for that. They are in awe of the guy, not exactly independent of him.

Only real way to put pressure on the U is to withhold your $$$. As little interest there is in the team, fans are speaking up.

Next move is up to Coach K and the AD. My money returns when the product warrants it, not before. “Next year” is fools gold.

It’s always “next year” isn’t it? Joking, but not joking.

Counting on a bunch of new (young) players to immediately do well? I’d really temper those expectations. Lower expectations 😉

This team exceeded expectations, and is still nothing more than an NIT team. Same as last year. Teams will pick the Utes apart in the middle next year. Jayce just hasn’t progressed. Maybe he will have a fantastic off season, maybe not.

I’d expect another NIT team next year. But first we should probably wait for any surprising announcements of players leaving. It’s been the norm for the Utes.

And, it will be interesting to watch ticket sales for next year. Huge drop off in season ticket sales this year. Another NIT season? Might be some good seats available in a few months!

That’s another pathetic schedule. The home portion is a joke, just like last year. This is simply about padding stats, absolutely not about getting ready for Pac12 and NCAA tourney play. This schedule doesn’t do the players any favors at all. It isn’t getting them ready. Is winning against directional schools really good for their psyche? Are they fragile?????

Jesus….last years non-conf was ranked 250th “toughest” in the nation. I guess this will come in somewhere around 200? How can this possibly help the players get ready for Pac12 play?

I like Larry—-but this is 100% on him with his blessings. Part of the reason season ticket sales dropped a lot heading into 2017. Eventually the AD will care.

Anyone want to guess on the Non-conf record? I’m guessing 4-5 losses.

That was the only decent non-conf home game this year.

Of course, we don’t know the non-conf home schedule because the Utes don’t release it until after the deadline for season ticket renewal has passed.

Smart thing to do when you have a pathetic schedule 😉

Now with Kuz gone we have two scholarships. I think this late in the recruiting season it’s just worth giving to one of the walk-ons for one season and then look to fill both next year.

Gonna be a rough season. Lots of scoring has left the building. And we honestly have no bench. Whatever lead the starters might, and that’s a really big might, be able to build will certainly shrink when the back-ups come in.

Exactly…….this was 100% intentional and worked like a charm. Tons of coaches have done this. The team was sleep walking. I don’t blame them, no kid grows up saying “I can’t wait to play in the NIT”.

      Noce job Coach K

6 home games, 5 away (ignoring the exhibition game).

It’s a pathetic schedule that isn’t set up to help the players. It helps a coaches record and nothing more. I have no problem with a few cupcake games, but this is two years in a row of the same crap.

My hangup is as a season ticket holder…..$5k for this kind of crap is pathetic (so I am venting). The product does not justify the costs. The huntsman center had a lot of empty attendance games last year and this simply continues that trend. Will be plenty of “buy one ticket get one free” games again this year. Watch for them to announce attendance at games…..it’s laughable when you are there and the arena isn’t 1/3 full, yet they magically announce 12,000 for the game (obviously not butts in the seat).

As for my prediction on losses…..obviously I don’t think utah is going to be a good team this year (I’m guessing 8 or 9 in Pac12 and very borderline if the get an NIT invite). So while a schedule like this might actually pose them a challenge……that’s a really sad state of affairs.

Of course, I’d love nothing more than to be ridiculously wrong.
