I really wish they would stop scheduling games like this. I know it is probably beneficial to the team to have some extra time to prepare for the better games, but these games are not very interesting. Just look at the state of UteHub this week. Fans don’t care that much about these games.
I don’t know how the SEC does it. TWO games like this…[Read more] -

RedRocks started the topic A reality check for those of you who think we can do better at Head Coach in the forum Football 6 years ago
I, for one, think Kyle Whittingham is one of the best CFB coaches in the country (let alone the P12) and have no desire to move on, but there always seems to be this contingent of fans that question how good we have it with Mr. Whittingham. I think these fans forget where the job is located…

RedRocks started the topic Lead Anxiety in the forum Football 6 years ago
I still get this uneasy feeling at times when the Utes have a pretty large lead in a game. It’s like my subconscious mind is preconditioned to expect some prevent defense that allows teams to get back in the game… Unusual times for Utah Football… Not complaining.

RedRocks replied to the topic College Football Empires in the forum Football 6 years ago
This is correct. What happened in the past has no relevance to land gained/lost in the future. Just think of real-life imperialism; if you defeat someone, you take all their currently possessed stuff. If someone beats you, they take all of your currently possessed stuff. If you defeat someone who has no stuff, you get no stuff. If you defeat…[Read more]

RedRocks replied to the topic Thinking of Lauren McCluskey reminded me of this scenario. in the forum Other Ute Sports 6 years ago
Not sure why this is so down-vote worthy; maybe you didn’t read the whole post. You should almost never blame the individual worker group that does the work (in this case the police) when it is the policy set by those in power that often guides the behavior. In business and government, those who carry out the policy usually have little say in…[Read more]

Not sure if any of you have been following this strangely interesting map/article series, but the Utes are back on the map after defeating USC.

Yeah, don’t blame the police; they are too busy giving out speeding tickets and getting cars towed to spend more time finding the real criminals. Blame the higher-ups and policy makers for making the police a revenue generating operation instead of a more focused crime fighting organization.

RedRocks started the topic Sling TV, FS1, and Friday's Game in the forum Football 7 years, 1 month ago
I have Sling TV and was a bit concerned/irritated that I might have to find another way to watch the Utah game on Friday due to all the blacked out college football games on FS1 with Sling. I did a bit of research and, if I am correctly informed, the blackout only applies to BIG 10 games on FS1. The Utah/Arizona game should be available to Sling…[Read more]

I understand, but even Kyle Whittingham is, and always will be, “associated” with the team down south. (Which is something I wish was not the case…)

RedRocks replied to the topic Is it true that we get one more year of Mangum? Giggity! in the forum Football 7 years, 2 months ago
He does seem to play well for us 😉 . That said, I think his problems are mostly with his team, not him. I think he could be pretty good; just watch their final scoring drive yesterday. Be careful what you wish for…

RedRocks started the topic Kalani Sitake in the forum Football 7 years, 2 months ago
There may be some who dislike Sitake just because he left for THAT school, but I can’t help but feel bad for the guy as I watch his team play. I like him: once a Ute always a Ute (with some exceptions). Don’t get me wrong, I want Utah to always beat the team down south.

RedRocks started the topic SI.com Bowl Predictions in the forum Football 7 years, 2 months ago
SI.com has posted some bowl predictions for the upcoming season. They have the Utes in the Cactus Bowl with TCU.
Sure, bowl predictions are virtually meaningless this time of year, but it is still fun to see what people think.

RedRocks replied to the topic How do your kids watch sporting events? in the forum Football 7 years, 2 months ago
I am also curious to see how things will change. I hate watching most commercials, and I don’t like how long the games last because of commercials. When I have access to a DVR, I like to record the game and start watching a bit later: allowing me to skip most of the commercials. I won’t have a DVR this year (SlingTV), so I won’t have much…[Read more]

Haha… This is part of the inner dialogue I am having at the moment: If I don’t currently like it, why should I continue trying to like it? I will likely continue to sample different drinks here and there; who knows where it will take me.
