RedRocks replied to the topic Are there any rules preventing Cam from transferring? in the forum Football 1 year ago
All of this NIL money stuff needs to come with contracts, and the contracts need to go both ways. The school should have to pay the player and the player should have to stay at the school (unless they mutually agree to terminate).
The current environment feels like constant free agency. Imagine if that were a thing in the NBA or NFL…

Oh, interesting. I have seen it from time to time on here and was curious.

I assume these broken objects I see (desktop browser) are supposed to be emojis?:
Probably why I seem to have missed some sarcasm in a different thread…

I think Utah will finish the ‘regular’ season 8-4, which is still a good season considering everything that has transpired.
I think Utah loses to the teams left on the schedule with decent defenses: Washington and Arizona. That said, Arizona State and Colorado could still give Utah trouble.

That would certainly look cool. Not sure the Ute Tribe would be too into it though…

A win over USC gets far more media attention for Utah than a win over Oregon. So, I’d probably pick the win over USC.

You can hate what someone does without hating the person. I didn’t realize that was difficult for some people to understand.

I wonder if Cam will transfer to a team that showcases the QB a little more, in an attempt to look more attractive to the NFL. It would be disappointing as a fan, but I could understand.

RedRocks replied to the topic Why are we complaining about the Big12? in the forum Football 1 year ago
In a nutshell, because the Pac12 is great and the Big12 isn’t.
The locations, the brands, the schools, the geographical connection. Nothing about the future Big12 is better than the current Pac12, except maybe being closer to the east coast (for some of that alleged bias) and perceived fan support. Also, maybe conference leadership, but we will…[Read more]

RedRocks replied to the topic Big XII, two ranked teams. Neither of which will be there next year. Meh. in the forum Football 1 year ago
It is unfortunate that the Pac12 imploded. However, joining the Big12 is definitely better than ending up the MWC version of the Pac12.
Hopefully the Pac12 dissolves, Washington State / Oregon State end up in the Big12, and the Pac12 reconstitutes itself in a few years after everyone regrets moving to other conferences.
Hey, one can wish…

RedRocks replied to the topic Run Game in the forum Football 1 year ago
This definitely makes sense and I am not trying to argue that they shouldn’t run between the tackles. I think the over-dependence on it and the predictability of it still makes me nervous. Specifically, the seeming lack of creativity on third and short. It worked well enough against USC, I am just concerned that better defenses will take that away…[Read more]

Correct. I acknowledged the fact that Utah had “some productive plays up the middle against USC” and their not-so-good defense.
I just can’t shake the idea that this over-commitment to it will bite us in the rear again in the coming week(s).
I hope I am wrong. -

Yesterday was a great game with a thrilling ending. Vaki left me wondering how he could possibly do the things he does with the ball in his hands. Barnes played very well and showed tons of determination. I like that there were a few more throws to Vele. Fantastic win.
During the game, I couldn’t help but notice that we continue to stick with…[Read more]

RedRocks replied to the topic Tight End in the forum Football 1 year ago
Having two-way players makes for a fun story, but why don’t we have running backs and tight ends that can beat out teammates who are supposed to be playing defense?
Don’t get me wrong, watching Vaki run with power and speed was exciting. I just wonder why one of our defensive players looks like a better runner than the entire running back…[Read more]

Well… that is some mighty strong Kool-Aid. Haha, I like it!
I am a bit more of a realist, but I agree that having them back (and playing) next year would be great for the team’s chances.

Sure. I am not arguing that Utah should not throw the ball. Variety is the spice of life.
However, if my team only runs the ball and scores on every possession, do we need to throw the ball?
I am mostly taking issue with your statement that the team who can pass the ball will win. Yes, this may often be true. It may even likely be true for this…[Read more] - Load More
