“They had trouble on their offensive line when they had to stay in for pass protection, though, as they gave up a whopping 119 pressures on just 395 pass-blocking snaps for a 30.1% pressure rate that was the sixth-highest in the nation.”

Tyler was truly impressive this season…completing the % that he did while facing pressure at this high rate. There’s really no other way to say it, our O-Line was bad this season.

Good thoughts. Hope we can find a decent kicker in the transfer portal. I’m also a little more concerned about our WR group than most are. IMO, we needed to either land Puka Nacua or Darren Jones and we came away with neither of them. Our current group is servicable, but if we’re being objective, most of our PAC-12 competition have much stronger groups than what we have at WR. This would be a great year to have another Darren Carrington type of player fall into our laps. Otherwise I hope our TE’s can carry more of the offensive load.

Agree on LB. Manny and Francis are solid, but there is little to no proven talent behind them. We’re one injury away from being in really bad shape there. None of the transfer guys bothered me except Thompson…I really wish he would have stuck around, I think he would have gotten a good amount of playing time this year.

A lot to like about this team, just a few areas that could become an achilles heel if we don’t address it over the summer/fall.

Here’s the pitch I would make to Puka. Come to Utah and enjoy the unique opportunity of playing alongside your brother. If, after a year, you decide that it’s not for you, then we’ll grant you a full release to transfer to any other school in the PAC-12. We will appeal to the conference to waive the conference transfer rules.

My guess is, if he came here, he wouldn’t look back because he’d be starting from day 1 and probably have a ton of passes thrown his way. But giving him that transfer assurance might ease his mind a little and up our chances

Mike Leach is starting to approach this status with Whitt as well. Every team has its kryptonite I guess. Thankfully we are the kryptonite to a few other teams in the league as well.

As was pointed out, ASU was very fortunate in how they escaped with wins against MSU, Cal, and WSU.

Their luck runs out this weekend. All things considered, we are just a better team than they are.

There is no way in hell that ASU is the 17th best team in the country this season. Clearly Vegas realizes this, but the AP voters don’t yet. I would be shocked if they are still ranked by the end of the season.

Is there a reliable source that is indicating that Wilson isn’t going to play? I haven’t heard anything about this. Seems a bit presumptuous.

Nailed it. The non-conference schedule is only a big deal if you have national championship aspirations, i.e. you think you’ve got a top 4 quality team. We’re not to that stage yet. Right now we need to show we can win the South again, and hopefully even win the whole conference.

Kids will do what is in their best interests. They’re really not interested in what impact it has on the other programs (local or otherwise).

The kid from Bingham a few years ago made a big deal out of his announcement, brought in local TV stations, etc. and picked USC over Utah. It happens. Don’t get worked up over it either way.
