12PAC, I’m sorry this was your experience. I am LDS and grew up in Orem. I know in my high school in the late 90’s, early 2000’s, that there were not many non-LDS kids. I look back on that now that I live outside of Utah and think how hard it must have been for those kids.
I remember a non-LDS family moving into our neighborhood when I was a kid…[Read more]

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. So it sound like you grew up when BYU owned the rivalry.
I don’t live in Utah, but in talking to my brothers and friends, they said the last 15 years were brutal for their kids (in Alpine/Highland) when Utah was dominating. They said their kids didn’t even want to where BYU gear to school because they got made fun…[Read more]

Yep, to each their own.
Curious why sporting events between the two of us aren’t fun for you? Were they ever? Did they get ruined by BYU fans? Just curious.
Because heaven knows we’ve taken our share of L’s in the last 20 years, but 2006 is one of my greatest sporting memories ever. I was also at the game in SLC in 2000 when BYU and Doman came…[Read more]

This is a great site. Super respectful and refreshingly honest about your own team. I’m obviously on CB too (and no, my name there isn’t Jim McMahon). I love CB, but because there is so much traffic, we do get a lot of idiots and dumb posts. There are several Ute posters on CB who are regulars and are well-respected, but even then we still have a…[Read more]

This really is a great site with positive interactions. I’m always amazed at how honest (realistic) you are about your team on here. And you call out your own. Much respect.
Good luck the rest of the season until Nov 9th!

Thanks, Dr. Jazzy. Good luck on the season!
I know Wilson didn’t look great in his first action, but he’s going to be a gamer. So sad we couldn’t get him.

Yep, we have our fair share of idiots like every fanbase. Sadly, message boards / reddit / social media has ruined civil dialogue in most of society. It’s a shame too, because virtually all my interactions with Utah fans have always been great.
Anyway, good luck on the season…except for when we play of course. So glad the rivalry game is back!…[Read more]

Yeah, he’s an idiot and he rightly got called out. Show me the other threads on CB where CB fans are hoping for Rising to get injured. Lots of speculation that he will get injured based on how he plays, but I haven’t seen outright posts (besides this one) where they are hoping he gets injured. And if there are others, I’m sure they got called out…[Read more]

As a BYU fan, he is one of my all-time favorite Utes. So classy and overcame so much adversity. Nothing but respect for him.
Congrats to him and to you all on this awesome honor.

He’s a stud. I really hope he can stay healthy and have a great season for you (except for when we play you, of course).
Refreshing to see his honest take of not liking BYU. Hoping the rivalry can get back to being fun now that we’re in the same conference again.
Good luck on your season. Hoping our QB room surprises me but I’m not holdi…[Read more]

I fully anticipate Utah to be part of the big realignment. You have earned it through your play on the field. Us BYU fans like to poke fun at your losses in the Rose Bowl, but of course we would swap the last 15 years of football success with you in a heartbeat.
I routinely hear national pundits (like Cowherd) talk about how much they respect…[Read more]

I’ve said this on here before but part of all our hype for basketball is partially to cover up for how mediocre our football team is going to be this year. It ain’t gonna be pretty. There is very little excitement on CB for football. I mean, of course we’re excited for the season, but mainly because we miss football. We’ll be lucky to win six…[Read more]

Both fanbases sadly have lots of idiots. But by and large, most fans are good, normal people. As with everything else, it’s the vocal losers online who ruin it for the rest of us.
I’ve mentioned before that I have a family member who played for Ron McBride back in the day and he’s awesome. We cheer for each other when our teams aren’t playing…[Read more]

Until Kalani is gone and somebody more capable is in charge, I fear it won’t matter how much money is pumped into BYU football. I love Kalani and wanted him to succeed so badly, but he just isn’t the guys to get it done. Fire him and give me Jay Hill.

We’re just numbing the pain for what we know will be a very mediocre to awful football season. Kalani, as much as I love him, is not the guy. Unfortunately, we will wait another two seasons before we fire him. On top of that, our rival will likely win the B12 this season, in their first season in the leauge. I know Cougarboard tries to pretend…[Read more]

What a win by your program tonight! Coach Whit is the epitome of tough and resilient and he infuses that into your team’s identity, year after year.
As someone without a dog in the fight, that was a great game. It was especially satisfying to see Williams sulking on the bench afterwards. So entitled.

First off, congrats on the nice win! Your defense once again looks incredibly stout.
4-0 without Rising is very impressive.
Is Scalley the head coach when Whit steps down? I was discussing this with my buddy who is a big Utah fan and he thinks he won’t get the nod because of that text. I think that is incredibly dumb if so, but curious what y…[Read more]

Good interview.
