I’ve liked the early defensive effort.

Utah effect. And they were 100% dedicated to stopping the record.

From what I have read, a little of both. Some were polygamists. Some were not.

Here’s a neat chart:
Oh! I looked and @equitybruin – UCLA won 2 out of 10,000 simulations. Rounded out to 0 on the chart but I thought you would want to know.

That’s because they held Jack West to 143. Daniels had 260 something. Montez had 195. Seems impressive. But let’s consider who they did it against.
Stanford (for the year) is the 90th ranked pass efficiency offense. (Jack West does not have enough completions to qualify and this was his only game). They ain’t great. And West, well, he’s what…[Read more]

Kyle Whittingham said thanks to the timeliness of Utah’s bye week, Tyler Huntley should be back to 100 percent for UCLA’s visit on Nov. 16.

Okay. Tell me one valuable recruiting post he’s provided. He does this literally every year and literally every year he is proven wrong. It’s tiresome. Particularly since he’s the same prick that does everything in his power to tear down the Utes when the slightest thing goes wrong but never owns it. His schtick is boring.

Hey, why don’t we let the class play out before saying stupid things. I know, tough to do for you. But…still, can you try?

This is a statistical artifact that’s been visible for years, unique to the Utes, not just a general lack of holding calls in the conference. They get way less holding calls than average, and WAY less given their sack and TFL numbers (usually correlated with hold flags).

Utah is getting particularly screwed. And it doesn’t seem to matter what they do.

Did you miss Anae getting tackled…like all the time last game. There’s data that shows Utah is getting hosed on holding calls.

By all metrics, their offense hasn’t been great. They haven’t faced a defense as good as ours. Period. They will get beat and beat badly.

We were not favored to beat cal in 16 (they had the edge on us to the tune of 56% according to FPI). Oregon we were favored by like 70%. But we are so much better than we were in 2016 on both sides of the ball. When it comes to Colorado and WSU, again, this team is leaps and bounds better. Utah is the better team.
More fun stats: UCLA is 103 in…[Read more]

ESPN FPI has utah as a 90% favorite. UCLA’s defense is just bad giving up almost 300 yards per game through the air and 130 on the ground. Colorado is a terrible team. I really am not worried.
Seriously, their defensive efficiency is 7th in the pac. We have played four teams higher than them (Wash, USC, ASU, and Cal) we beat all but USC and d…[Read more]
