  • Nah. We have built something great here. Or Whitt and company have. We should be the best team in the Big 12. And if we want to continue being on top, we need to continue to recruit as high as we have. And kids don’t want to go to a team that hopes they can be number 1. They want to go to a team that knows their goal is to win the conference and…[Read more]

  • I agree with you here. And, I’m not sure we need to get top 20 classes anymore. We need top 30 classes. If we can still recruit around 25, we will just be better than anyone else.

And transfers become huge. You have to find a way to get those kids you recruited in HS that went to UW and Oregon who didn’t see the field and now want some cash and…[Read more]

  • Let’s look at recruiting rankings 3, 4, and 5 years:

    3 year average class:
    1 – Utah (29)
    2 – Baylor (37)
    3 – Oklahoma (38)
    4 – TCU (40)

    4 year average:
    1 – Utah (29.5)
    2 – TCU (35.8)
    3 – OSU (38.5)
    4 – Baylor (40.5)

5 year average (although this isn’t as important due to the season ending:
    1 – Utah (32.2)
    2 – TCU (34.6)
    3 – OSU (38)
    4 -…[Read more]

  • Cam is a baller. And he wants to show the NFL he’s worth paying. And he’s had plenty of time to rehab and be healthy.

Jackson is a star. He average 7 yards a carry in 2022 and on one leg he averaged 5 yards a carry. And he had no passing game to take the heat off him. Moss was great, but Jackson is better.

Kuithe, King and McClain…are hella…[Read more]

Nah. First of all, we will have Rising. He put up almost 40 points a game last year in the PAC-12, a league that is much better than the Big 12.

Second, I don’t care how many transfers ASU and Colorado get, we will be better than they are. They still just suck and you can’t turn it around overnight.

    Southern Utah – Win
    Baylor isn’t great.…[Read more]

  • There is a reason why all the Big 12 online warriors hate Utah…we don’t want to be in the Big 12.

The Big 12 sucks. Look at it this way:

In the PAC-12 we were the fifth best recruiting team…and I don’t think we could get any higher. I don’t think Utah would ever be able to out recruit UW, UCLA, Oregon or USC.

In the Big 12? We are the…[Read more]

  • Welcome to the Big 12. If you are Bills, do you want to come back and play UCF, Houston, BYU and a whole host of other G5 level teams?

  • I don’t think Wilson cares one bit what happened this year. Nothing has changed for him.

Since day 1, Wilson’s goal has been to have surgery, get healthy, backup and Rising and try to take Rising’s job. If he does, great. If he doesn’t, he will then compete for Utah’s starting job in 2025.

Nothing that happened this year changes anything for Wilson.

  • Do you guys remember Jake Murphy? Very good TE, and a solid year then went into the NFL draft. I don’t remember him getting drafted, he stuck with the Raiders for a few weeks then was cut and is out of football.

Now, Bishop feels a lot like Murphy. The potential is there, but a year too early. I hope Bishop isn’t on a practice squad next fall…[Read more]

  • I know a lot of BYU fans. They probably beat themselves everyday. And if they don’t, they are sure missing out.

    Gotta keep that prostrate healthy.

    Jokes aside, fuck BYU.

I mean, the measurables are there…he seems like a kid in 2-3 years could be good. But this feels like a “oh shit, we don’t have enough bodies at a position and we don’t have anyone lined up in the portal to take a spot so let’s go get someone.”

  • Utah replied to the topic We Need Some Good News in the forum Football 11 months, 1 week ago

I’d argue NFL is better for Vaki than Bishop. Vaki has all the measurables. And he did produce at Utah. If I’m a NFL scout, Vaki has a higher ceiling than Bishop. And if Vaki gets to an all star bowl game and produces…then he could rise really fast in the draft.

    Like Kyle Kuzma.

So if I’m Vaki, and I can get in front of scouts with other…[Read more]

  • I agree 100%. I wouldn’t tell Bishop to go to the NFL. Especially with NIL. Get a couple hundred grand from Utah and try to improve your draft status. I think Bishop will be very disappointed come June.

  • Going along with this, the NFL is a democrat’s wet dream:

Salary cap. Even playing field. Every team has an almost equal chance to compete.
Draft picks. The worst team gets the most help.
Unions. Protect the workers and give them a voice.
Healthcare. Take care of the health of your employees so they can perform better.
    Retirement. Let your…[Read more]

  • The NCAA had no way to enforce those rules and regulations. The NCAA isn’t the problem. It’s the lack of enforcement and power that the NCAA has.

Let the NCAA subpoena records. Let them have access to everything. Let them conduct interviews and go through financials and phones, etc. Let them levy punishments.

The problem is if you tell the…[Read more]

  • That’s cool that he has two years remaining. He knew where he was. He knew Utah was going to do everything Utah could to make it so he didn’t see the field again. And that’s ok. He isn’t good enough for Utah. But that doesn’t mean he sucks.

He would be a very, very good G5 QB and a great FCS QB.

Utah Tech would be a great place to be a QB in…[Read more]

  • Yup. College football is a great example of why unabashed, unregulated society doesn’t work. You need rules. You need regulations. You need unions. All those things make life better for the majority of people. You take away those things and the Alabama’s and Ohio State’s do fine, but everyone else suffers.

  • I agree. It’s one of two things:

1 – He’s getting some really, really bad advice.
2 – He doesn’t think another year will get him drafted any higher.

I guess it could be a third: He needs the money. But I’d assume that he could pull an NLI deal that was comparable to the NFL minimum.

I hope he goes to a good situation. Him dropping in the…[Read more]

  • I have to completely agree. College football taps into our tribal instincts. Big time. I don’t think I’d be interested in trying to replicate that with another team. I worked hard at Utah. I stressed and cried and succeeded. There is history for me there.

And to try to replicate that somewhere else…I don’t see it happening.

  • Yes…and no…

I don’t know if comparing music to a team is the same thing. We don’t have our “local” musicians on tv every week.

I think people want to follow their team. I think that is why college football has been so successful for so long. There never was a team that was out of it.

Think back to pre-BCS. Everyone was in a smaller…[Read more]
