Look. Heading into the Big 12, we are by far the best recruiting school. By a pretty significant margin.

That being said…this year ain’t it. And if we continue recruiting the way we have been recruiting this year…then we will have to fight to be on top.

If we can maintain what we’ve done, we will be the clear top dog. But…if this is how…[Read more]

What a coincidence! We have two players with the exact same names!

Unregulated capitalism. You gotta love it baby. A right winger’s wet dream, college football is.

Our defense got better when he left.

There was always drama between him and Polynesian defensive players.

Our recruiting got better when he left.

He has sucked everywhere else he has coached.

    No thanks.

I think the negativity around the NCAA might be too much to overcome. There needs to be a new regulating body with actual power. Not abandoning wins…but with the power to fine coaches. Ban coaches. Set up real rules. Go through texts and phone calls.

Until then…just roll with the punches. It’s a joke right now.

  • So I ventured over to cougarboard. They don’t realize how ridiculous they are and how far they have fallen.

Every player that has transferred to BYU from Utah…has done so because they were passed up on the depth chart and wanted playing time.

Yet every player that comes to us, comes to us knowing that they might not start, probably won’t,…[Read more]

    lol @ BYU. Fuck ’em.

    Nice!

  • Utah replied to the topic What’s cooler than being cool? in the forum Football 1 year ago

Eh. It’s so overrated. It’s like not talking about injuries and closing practices. It’s minimal at best. Whitt hid that half our defense was injured vs Arizona. They still kicked our asses.

Belichek tried to hide injuries. When he had Brady, he won a lot. Since he lost Brady, he has lost a lot.

These sort of games…great headlines. Minimal…[Read more]

  • I think you and I are closer to agreement than not. But, the new Big 12 isn’t as hard as the PAC-12. Not even close. Talent wise, especially. The PAC-12 had so much more talent.

Teams don’t go undefeated in the PAC-12. And that is not because the PAC-12 sucks. Oklahoma went undefeated almost yearly. The fact that you could argue that the top 4…[Read more]

  • We have as good a shot as anyone in the country at being undefeated next year. And that’s not a compliment to the Big 12.

Times have changed and we have headed back to a MWC level conference. Our expectation every year is once again a conference title and playoffs, just like it was in the MWC. We expected to compete for a BCS game there. We…[Read more]

  • I’m gonna kinda unload here. I like you Jim, and this isn’t an assault on you but it might feel like it. I’m just using your post to vent. Here it goes:

Fuck the Big 12. I am so tired of hearing how hard the Big 12 is. It isn’t. Good lord. Texas is gone. Oklahoma is gone. There isn’t a single venue that will be as hard to play in as playing in…[Read more]

  • This is where people need to chill. Look at our returning starters:

    Rising
    Jackson/Bernard
    Kuithe/King
    Pittman/McClain

Our DL comes back. Our LB’ers come back.

Then you sprinkle in that our schedule gets exponentially easier…

People forget that Rising put up almost 40 points a game in the PAC-12 last year. He went toe to toe with Ohio…[Read more]

  • We could lose to Baylor, finish with a worse overall record than Baylor, have a better conference record than Baylor and make the conference championship game and playoffs while Baylor gets left out.

In other words: It doesn’t matter at all.

  • Utah replied to the topic All is quiet in the hill… in the forum Football 1 year, 1 month ago

We are set everywhere but S and maybe CB. I bet we don’t see much of anything until after signing day. Then the coaches will try to fill in the roster with transfers, part of the selling point will be, “compete for playing time and be on a team that has a goal of winning the Big 12, going to the playoffs and the sky is the limit from there.”

    We…[Read more]

  • And we had a challenge this season: Playing USC, UW, Oregon with no QB. Then playing Arizona with no defense AND no QB AND no RB.

    That was a challenge.

    Odds are, that won’t happen again for a long time. Look at our injuries: QB1, QB2, RB2, RB3, RB1 was sort of injured, TE1, TE2, DE1, LB1, LB2, LB2, S1, S2.

Come on. THAT was a challenge.…[Read more]

  • Nah. We have built something great here. Or Whitt and company have. We should be the best team in the Big 12. And if we want to continue being on top, we need to continue to recruit as high as we have. And kids don’t want to go to a team that hopes they can be number 1. They want to go to a team that knows their goal is to win the conference and…[Read more]

  • I agree with you here. And, I’m not sure we need to get top 20 classes anymore. We need top 30 classes. If we can still recruit around 25, we will just be better than anyone else.

And transfers become huge. You have to find a way to get those kids you recruited in HS that went to UW and Oregon who didn’t see the field and now want some cash and…[Read more]

  • Let’s look at recruiting rankings 3, 4, and 5 years:

    1 – Utah (32.2)
    2 – TCU (34.6)
    3 – OSU (38)

  • Cam is a baller. And he wants to show the NFL he’s worth paying. And he’s had plenty of time to rehab and be healthy.

Jackson is a star. He average 7 yards a carry in 2022 and on one leg he averaged 5 yards a carry. And he had no passing game to take the heat off him. Moss was great, but Jackson is better.

Kuithe, King and McClain…are hella…[Read more]
