Utah replied to the topic If you’re mega-rich, would you use that money to sway Utah football’s fortunes? in the forum Football 5 years, 10 months ago
I don’t know. I’d have to do some extensive research into some of Utah’s…limitations…recruiting wise.
If I felt that those could be overcome with money and marketing, I’d do it. Why the hell not? If those peculiarities were too…peculiar and not able to be overcome, then I would not.
But, if I could give money to allow them to pay their…[Read more]

Utah replied to the topic How to create more parity in CFB in the forum Football 5 years, 10 months ago
I agree. Parity is a dangerous thing. I think we should want more parity among P5 teams…but not for college football.
I’m 100% for P5 breaking away from G5. That’s would also solve a lot of problems.

Utah replied to the topic Parity in the forum Football 5 years, 10 months ago
Also, by separating G5 from P5, the top G5 players will stop going G5. It would crush Boise and Houston, but those players would trickle up to schools like Utah.

1- I don’t like reducing scholarships. That may be the only redeeming thing in college football. To take a chance at an education away from a poor minority so Alabam doesn’t win as much…that’s no bueno.
2- I’ve said this a million times. Most issues would be fixed by installing two rules:
First, to qualify for the playoffs, you must play 10…[Read more]

I think the first step is normalizing the schedules. If we can get the schedules more even, then we will see the PAC-12 isn’t as bad as we think and the SEC isn’t as good as we think.
Step 2 – 6-8 team playoff, no G5. Every P5 conference in. Again, you’d see a 10-2 PAC-12 team win it all, perception changes.

Love Rex Jordan…has a chance to be really good but a lis franc can be tricky. If he gets back and stays healthy he’ll be in the mix for sure. You’re already 3 deep with big time experience there as it is though. Anae, Tupai, and Tufua so it will be interesting to see how and where he fits in.

I think we’re in pretty good shape with the O-line honestly. We lose 3 quality guys but have more real depth than ever and plenty of game experience. Some young kids but big and very talented. If they develop as expected we’ve got some massive size up there. The great thing is they’ll have 8-10 guys in the mix so that group will have to fight…[Read more]

Maybe take a look at the class like this…
Rex Jordan, Malone Mataele, RJ Hubert, Terrell Perriman, Bryant Pirtle, Sione Lund, Andrew Mata’afa, Braeden Daniels, Paul Maile, Blake Kuithe, Jackson Cravens, Manny Bowen, Donte Banton, Micah Bernard, Semisi Lauaki, Falcon Kaumatule, Sataoa Laumea, Ben Lennon, Aaron Lowe, Johnny Maea, LaCarea P…[Read more]

The better thing to look at is avg stars per player. Our avg stars per players puts us at a borderline top 15-35 team, which we are.
Take BYU as the other example. They are close to us in class ranking, but their avg stars is with Lousinana Monroe and other mid level G5 teams.

Utah replied to the topic Lots of RB declaring early for NFL draft… in the forum Football 5 years, 10 months ago
At this point, I’d be surprised if he leaves early. He has first round potential. He’s a smart guy.
I’d be shocked if he left early.

BUT, it changes things drastically. If WSU doesn’t play USC early in the year, they roll into the last game undefeated. How does that game go with WSU having a playoff spot in the line?

Also, I think Lloyd and Pirtle make names for themselves as well. And Lund. We are pretty stacked at LB.
And Mata’afa. And Thompson.

LB will be solid next year. Bowen and Bernard will keep it humming.

I can’t stand Browning. He throws a pick on the two point conversion, runs down the field, turns around right before a block is placed on him, then cries to the refs for a block in the back flag.
Don’t bring that soccer shit into football.
