jrj84105 replied to the topic The Drive – not making me feel great about our offensive coaching in the forum Football 9 years, 2 months ago
In the last few years we’ve typically had one or two playmakers who could make things happen even when the rest of the offense was a mess, which it was due to poor QB play, poor pass blocking, poor WR route-running, and inability of WRs to hold onto the ball.
This year, we really lack any playmakers outside of Booker (maybe Covey can be that…[Read more]

These kind of programs are not documentaries, they’re melodramas, and as melodramas they employ a lot of tried and true dramatic devices. From a dramatic standpoint, there’s not really a lot to work with for either of these teams. The trashing of TW at the beginning is there to set TW up for a rags to riches redemption story line if he has a good…[Read more]

jrj84105 replied to the topic Who would you like to see on our non-conference schedule? in the forum Football 9 years, 2 months ago
The only decent series we have scheduled is Baylor, which I give an A+ since it’s winnable, P5, and a recruiting hotspot. By the same token, I’d love Miami (battle for the U).

If you followed fall camp you knew that TW really struggled at the start of camp, and then with about a week and a half left, the light went on and he got better every day leaving everyone else in dust.

I’m pretty sure this is impossible, or I would have seen it:
Live score tracker for PAC12 games. I would never leave a message board if it had an integrated score tracker. -

I was having the same thought. If Singleton and Patrick are no goes, guys like Byrd and Hatfield might get a shot at offense for nothing other than their ability to be physical in blocking.

jrj84105 replied to the topic Which Pac12 team makes CFP? in the forum Football 9 years, 2 months ago
USC/Furd need to take care of ND. Additionally, I think the PAC needs the BigXii to play its way out of playoff. TCU has an enormous number of injuries, and I could see them losing two games (rooting for TTU this weekend) which would put them behind a 2 loss PAC champ. With Baylor’s horrendous SOS, I think a one loss Baylor could fall behind a…[Read more]

jrj84105 replied to the topic Utah's O-line in the forum Football 9 years, 2 months ago
Are we having issues with defenses anticipating where we’re going with the ball based on some presnap cues? It seems to me like defenses are correctly anticipating where the play is going with pretty good frequency resulting in defenders beating our linemen to the point of attack, often leaving one guy on the backside with no one to block. I…[Read more]

jrj84105 replied to the topic Sounds like Vernon Adams will be playing in the forum Football 9 years, 2 months ago
Our screen game will be active, but I think we have been setting up some great misdirections off those looks. I also think our OLine is finally getting into a groove and should be able to do some good things – but we’ll have to watch out for Buckner and the rest of Oregon’s front 7.
Our WR screen game has been really non-productive because 1) ou…[Read more]

jrj84105 replied to the topic Is There a Clear Separation between TW and KT? in the forum Football 9 years, 2 months ago
My take on Wilson is that he’s not a good enough playmaker to bail out receivers and OL when they make mistakes. However, if the O-line and receivers were doing their jobs, TW would largely complete his responsibilities, and we’d have a very functional offense.
Thompson can be a playmaker and bail out an offense that is making mistakes, but…[Read more]

Less inaccurate is a fantastic way of phrasing it.

Jesus Christ! Is the same poster who discounted all of TW’s stats against any team outside the PAC12 now using KT’s stats against 2015 Fresno as evidence of KT’superiority? Or is it KT’s mom?
The difference between 2004’s crazy optimism and your disdain of TW, is that 2004 occasionally winds up being right.

jrj84105 replied to the topic I don't see the need to split every category up in the forum Comments and Suggestions 9 years, 2 months ago
In split screen views like the forums index and the reply window, the column to the right displays the “site wide activities” list. I think it would be much better to display the “recent posts” list if at all possible.
I think one big reason for UB5 getting cast as the ALUF board was that all too frequently the entire activity menu was dominated…[Read more]

Agree. I think this is a big reason why Utahby5 stalled. For a new site there simply isn’t enough volume to make it worth clicking on every category. The activity stream on the right will functionally be a “hot” or “controversial” list and will become dominated by political/religious stuff. I would suggest keeping it simple with few…[Read more]
