Utah replied to the topic Gameday crew will come to SLC in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
Thursday night games to start the season are huge because they give you extra days to get ready for game #2. I think beating Baylor will be really, really tough but those two extra days are massive.
We get to play Florida, have a day to rest and review, and then Baylor plays and we can be prepping for them. Compare that to us being forced into a…[Read more]

It’s because the Big 12’s perception of us has been shaped by PigBusDork and BYU fans…basically the worst of the worst.
It’s just some BYU projection Pig trying to compensate. The world will right itself here soon enough.

Utah started the topic Utah, the Big 12, & Recruiting in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
Now that the dust has settled on the Big12…16…whatever, who has been the best recruiting team the last 3 years? 4 years? 5 years?
Utah. And in some ways it’s not that close.
That is what is most crazy about this move. Now we have to keep it up the next two years, but we aren’t going into this conference as a MWC who has to build. We go…[Read more]

USC and Stanford were the real villains. And Oregon State. USC and Stanford killed the Big 10 Alliance a few years ago. They didn’t want to add Big 10 teams to their schedule.
USC didn’t want Texas and Oklahoma.
The California schools were against 8 conference games, as they just had to play each other every year.
Oregon State fought aga…[Read more]

The Big 12? The MWC? Let’s say Utah gets left out, gets a garbage deal and goes with Oregon State and WSU and Cal and Stanford to the MWC and we make 20 million a year.
What happens? We do what we did in the MWC last time. We go to the playoffs 2-3 times every 5 years.
Are you telling me that would suck? Sure, the regular season would be l…[Read more]

Utah started the topic This ACC news is another example of how stupid the Big 12 is. in the forum Football 1 year, 9 months ago
Look at the Big 12 teams:
Iowa State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech, WVU.
Then you add in BYU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston.
Those teams SUCK. Not one carries the weight of UW or OU.
Had the Big 12 waited and not signed their GOR, instead of 4 G5 schools, they could be adding in FSU, Miami, Clemson,…[Read more]

It’s not that big of a deal. Let me explain.
1 – Remember, reporters get paid by clicks. They need to drum up controversy because that stirs feelings and feelings lead to action and if we get all angry, then we will click on all the articles and generate more clicks.
2 – The PAC-12 Networks sucked. No one watched us anyways. This idea that…[Read more]

What a ride this year has been huh? Everything is coming up Philly. Sixers had a big win last night, now in second place in the East, rolling with triple double, the new generation’s Stockton and Malone (seriously, as pretty as Stock and Malone were in the Pick and Roll, you now have a more athletic duo in Harden and Embiid running it…it’s…[Read more]

Utah replied to the topic Red goggles off, what is your season record prediction for 2023? in the forum Football 1 year, 10 months ago
Look at our three losses: @Florida, @UCLA, @Oregon. All close games (maybe not too close with UCLA), all on the road. Look at Alabama when they played Texas on the road: They almost lost. It’s hard to go on the road and win. It’s really hard.
I think that is why seeing the schedule is so important here. Utah has been a very, very young team the…[Read more]

Man, that is harsh. We basically bring back the same team that has won the PAC-12 two years in a row and you put them at 7 wins? Yikes. If that’s the case, it’s time for Whitt to retire and Scalley to move on because this team would have gotten complacent. Or tons of injuries.
My predicted growth for Utah:
QB: Better or worse. If Rising is…[Read more]

Utah replied to the topic The Utes have simply got to have more outside threats. in the forum Football 1 year, 10 months ago
TCU looked in the mirror, realized that they had a problem, went and hired Dykes and now are playing for a national title.
I don’t think we should move on from Whitt. I don’t think we should move on from any coaches. BUT, I do think we have a problem with the QB and WR room. And Utah has to figure out how to fix that problem.

Washington State can get WR’s. Arizona can get WR’s. BYU can get WR’s.
It is very fair to assume we can get WR’s. We are a better program than all those teams. I don’t believe for one second you either throw the ball or run the ball. Look at how many catches our players had this…[Read more]

IF Johnson wasn’t ready to play vs Penn St, you need Rising back desperately. With Rising, you have a shot at the playoffs. Without rising you are going with Barnes or a transfer QB and that is so risky. And if Barnes wins the job, I’m not sure you are bowling next year.
Utah’s starting QB next fall will be Rising or a transfer with a tiny, tiny…[Read more]

Utah replied to the topic Explain QBR to me please in the forum Football 1 year, 10 months ago
QBR takes into account how much your plays helped the team win/lose.
A 90 yard TD is not a 90 yard TD. A 90 yard TD with 70 yards in the air down 7 points is worth a lot more than a 2 yard screen that the receiver takes for 90 yards when you are up 21.
The reality is, we were in a competitive game when Barnes came into the game and he lost us…[Read more]

Utah replied to the topic Let's not pretend that this team was awesome before the RB game in the forum Football 1 year, 10 months ago
We were down our #1 RB, our #1 and #2 TE’s (who were also our #1 and #2 receivers). We were down our top DE and CB. Then once Rising went down, we were sunk.
We also, for some reason, keep playing our best RB in a backup role. That I don’t understand.
And then Scalley…the dude forgot he had a game or something. Sheesh. Penn St made…[Read more]
