Definitely optimism. I hope NJ can see the field. If he would have accepted his fate 2 years ago he’d be 2 years ahead in development as a WR.

If we can get Singer back again, and if Lyons pans out (and sticks around), we should have some weapons next year (if we can manage to use them).

  • I still would love to keep Woods. We need a smaller back for changeup. Right now we have a few midsize guys (Mitchell, Parker, Rogers) a power back (Washington), but lost our smaller and shiftier guys. Quite the reversal from a few months ago ha ha. Maybe Guillory or Bray can be that guy. I know the Guillory kid was super highly regarded, and only…[Read more]

Ya, I mean I’m not going to argue with you about that. You know way better than anyone else, but I think that’s a pretty poor sample size ha ha. I think if you take a poll of a 1000 hiring managers across the country and ask them which institution’s degree has better perceived value, not a lot of them would pick Utah’s. Berkeley has been rated one…[Read more]

All things considered, if he is only what his stats are, then I’d rather come out the other side with a degree from Cal than a degree from Utah. No offense meant, my degrees are from Utah, but they definitely don’t have the same weight as Cal. I’m sure there are still some kids that value that as much or more than a short term paycheck.

    I’m unrealistically hoping for Duce!

  • I guess you can’t fault the guy for taking a bet on himself. This will be a good case study for guys taking early money now and risking hurting their chances of getting noticed later.

  • I think the culture at Colorado, at least from a distance, is kind of toxic. Fighting, hazing, flaunting of money (bankruptcies), huge ego’s etc. I think that is a high ceiling-low floor kind of program as it’s sitting now. If everything clicks, they’ll be great. If things start to go off the rails, they’ll really go off the rails.

    I’m not…[Read more]

  • Wish him the best. He did the best he could in a shitty situation.

  • J Rocksville replied to the topic Wayshawn Parker in the forum Football 6 days, 14 hours ago

I’d love to get Parker and then keep Woods from transferring. Those dudes plus Mitchell would give us 4 backs with a nice variety of skillsets.

  • J Rocksville replied to the topic Nate Johnson in the forum Football 6 days, 14 hours ago

Didn’t necessarily say they were a QB for us right? How about Covey hanging them up to come home and coach? Long shot ha ha.

He seems like he would be a great coach if he decides to go that route one day.

  • J Rocksville replied to the topic Devon Dampier in the forum Football 1 week, 4 days ago

Seems a little small, but you can’t argue with his results last year. With a better O-line and potentially more talent around him (potentially is the key word here), you’d hope he’d continue to grow as a passer and rely less on his legs. I think 3k yards passing at a 60-65% clip and 500 running puts him right on par with the QB that won two P12…[Read more]

  • Wide open for a top transfer to come in and get reps.

I’m not worried. I think we’ll get a good qb transfer, a grad transfer backup, and the two incoming guys. Four is plenty 😉

Same equation for Rb. We have Mitchell (so far) and I have this feeling that woods isn’t going to find a better deal or situation. I guess that’s assuming he doesn’t…[Read more]

  • J Rocksville replied to the topic Not sold on Dampier in the forum Football 2 weeks, 2 days ago

I’m pretty sure they just said on the radio that he’s Singer’s half brother.

  • With the transfer portal fast becoming the path for building competitive teams, the need for stripped down and streamlined offenses (and probably defenses, but we hear more about the offenses) that allow transfers to learn it quickly and execute has become more important. Are outgoing QB’s and other offensive talent going to be heading into the…[Read more]

  • Who says he was involved in not hiring? Or that Whitt shut down those hires? Just because you offer someone a job, doesn’t mean they have to take it.

There are plenty of reasons Arbuckle would prefer Oklahoma over Utah, and Leftwich may want to stay closer to home and the recruiting grounds he’s more comfortable with.

    It’s also possible I…[Read more]

I thought I heard he wasn’t much loved when he left here. Could be wrong, and who knows what actually goes on behind those doors. I’d still be surprised to see him back here. I’d guess something like Fresno St closer to home.

  • I don’t know that “rebuilt” is the right term. It definitely needs a reset, but I think the idea of Utah “culture” needs to remain and somehow find a way to adapt to survive in the modern landscape of college athletics.

I also don’t think any of us fully understand the nature of the U’s NIL deals. It’s easy to assume that the X amount of money…[Read more]

  • Some of the best and wildest parties I went to in college, 20 years ago, were in provo. It was a strange scene though, because most of the time the girls would put their clothes back on once someone showed up with alcohol ha ha. When they would come north, the lds kids would absolutely rage… Until other lds kids showed up.

    I knew a girl from…[Read more]

  • J Rocksville replied to the topic 🌹 QB1 in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago

I also am routing for Rose to get a shot. We’ve heard over the years that he has arm talent, and he’s certainly bigger and older. A couple weeks of first team snaps and some tweaks to the scheme and maybe we can field an offense that can put 20-25 points on the board. That’s at least something and would give us a shot against most teams the way…[Read more]
