  • I don’t know that “rebuilt” is the right term. It definitely needs a reset, but I think the idea of Utah “culture” needs to remain and somehow find a way to adapt to survive in the modern landscape of college athletics.

I also don’t think any of us fully understand the nature of the U’s NIL deals. It’s easy to assume that the X amount of money…[Read more]

  • Some of the best and wildest parties I went to in college, 20 years ago, were in provo. It was a strange scene though, because most of the time the girls would put their clothes back on once someone showed up with alcohol ha ha. When they would come north, the lds kids would absolutely rage… Until other lds kids showed up.

    I knew a girl from…[Read more]

I also am routing for Rose to get a shot. We’ve heard over the years that he has arm talent, and he’s certainly bigger and older. A couple weeks of first team snaps and some tweaks to the scheme and maybe we can field an offense that can put 20-25 points on the board. That’s at least something and would give us a shot against most teams the way…[Read more]

  • Great, we can get embarrassed in front of a bigger audience.

Let’s only hope that we show up renewed and reenergized against BYU and can at least be competitive for the rest of the season.

I personally have some hope that age and time in our program have given Rose a touch more poise, and with a couple weeks of taking snaps and some tweaks to…[Read more]

  • I also think he’ll get another shot, or take a Lane Kiffin route and land at a Georgia or Alabama type program, run their offense for a year or two until a HC job opens up that he likes, and jump.

  • I swear I saw some quotes from the team that tcu seamed to know what we were going to do every play. At the time it was an indictment of how predictable our offense is, but maybe they really did know the plays.

I see something like 20-13 or 24-13 BYU. I just don’t think we have enough offense to expect more than 1 touchdown, and it’s probably a toss up whether that TD comes from the O or the D. If we can get one from each, and a couple field goals, maybe we have a shot.

With our D, I’d be pretty surprised if we got ran off our own field though. Oooh,…[Read more]

If Huard plays in 4 games, does he still have availability for next year?

If so, he should get a shot. If he loses his last season of eligibility, that seems like a messed up thing to do to a player. I don’t think he’d do anything for his career by playing out the last 4 games of a burner season.

I’m the furthest thing from a football expert, but everything about Rose looked bigger/stronger/faster. That’s obviously only a small part of the equation, but his passes had more zip and he didn’t look physically overmatched by everyone around him.

Maybe both of those guys leave, but I’d bet there is a more seasoned qb to be had in the…[Read more]

  • I think what will happen is offensive recruits will probably be apprehensive about signing without knowing who the coach or what the scheme will be. We’ll get a new OC and he’ll have to plug and play through the portal while we recruit the athletes for his system.

I mean, this seems like how it works everywhere else now.

  • Who’s expectations? Yours? Or the coaching staff? I suspect the coaching staff preaches to the players not to get too far ahead of themselves because a lot of things can happen in a long season, and expectations can derail a season. I think that’s good advice for fans as well.

I think the coaching staff has only said that this team has as much…[Read more]

  • I don’t know that I’ve seen mentioned, but I think the fact that ASU stormed the field after beating us is a good indication about what other teams and fanbases think of our program. It was a big deal for them to beat us. Utah. 20 years ago if you had said a P5 program like ASU would storm the field after beating us in an off year, I think you…[Read more]

Well if one news outlet said it, it must be true lol.

  • J Rocksville replied to the topic More NIL Fallout in the forum Football 1 month, 3 weeks ago

Can you provide an example to the contrary?

I’m not a lawyer and I have no more insight into nil deals than anyone else sitting on the sofa, but I do pay to have lawyers write many contracts, and we often need triggers or other contingencies written into contracts. If I were writing a nil contract, I would absolutely put in a clause that the…[Read more]

I’d take Cam over IW even if we area limited to 10 yard passes and the run game. We should have enough playmakers to make some things happen if we can get guys into space.

I am high on the future of IW though. I think with another year of seasoning, he’s going to be a stud.

  • Let’s just hope that getting reps all week and a more manageable playbook helps IW get his footing.

Maybe it burns his Redshirt, maybe it doesn’t. If Cam stays healthy the rest of the year we’re good, and honestly still having a redshirt in your back pocket for future use isn’t an altogether terrible thing.

That’s kind of my take. I haven’t seen enough from this team to honestly say we could beat either of those teams if we played them right now. If we play like we did in the first quarter for an entire game, then I’d be annoyed at being jumped.

  • Hopefully with a week of reps with the offense, and a set of plays he’s comfortable executing, he’ll do a bit better.

    23-10 and a snorer

  • I hope we come out fired up and ready to send a message. I want like 45-14 or more. If we want to show that we belong, we need to keep our foot on the gas just like the other top teams do.

We struggle, like every other team, to contain mobile QB’s, but Baylor doesn’t have the other weapons that USC has and we should have at least some familiarity…[Read more]
