I was surprised at how bad the body language became for lsu at the end. They just wanted off the field.

J Rocksville replied to the topic New Big 12 is Terrible in the forum Football 1 year, 2 months ago
Ya I think it’s like most leagues, a couple of good teams at the top and a bunch of mediocre teams that you need to stay focused on to hold serve. I don’t think any conference can go 6-7 deep like this year’s pac.
Ucf looks solids though. Gaudy numbers against a trash team…. But that’s what you’re supposed to do. I think ucf, k state, Utah…[Read more]

There’s tape on them now so better, deeper programs won’t be taken by surprise. They are definitely way better than before, but do they have enough depth to grind out enough wins to get to a bowl? I still don’t see it. But 5-7 is still a huge improvement.

Their o-line looks terrible, and their backup qb must be even worse if they are leaving that qb in who can’t hardly stand up.

It wouldn’t surprise me if ESPN put pressure on Utah to disclose the starting QB. Wasn’t the network pretty sour about the Washington State situation?
It wouldn’t surprise me to see Barnes trotted out to start the game, and then NJ replace him after the first series.

I don’t know if this has any bearing, but I’ve always wondered if there is a difference in commitment from guys/kids that are recruited to be a part of a program and chose to be a part of that team based upon that recruitment, vs guys that are just there for the payday.
They’ve got a lot of mercenaries on that team, but the kind of kid looking…[Read more]

Surprise: We win a lot of games with back up quarterbacks.
Disappointment: We don’t win enough of them to compete for the final P12 crown or NY6 bowl game.

There has to be exactly zero players in college football that are excited to try and tackle Yassmin one on one in the open field. It’s like running uphill in Pamplona.
I don’t know if it’s out of design, necessity, or QB limitations but it seems like 90% of our throws only go to 2 maybe 3 different targets every year. This year it feels like we…[Read more]

Well they got Malachi Nelson this year. Typically the number 13 recruit in the country isn’t total trash.

I see a lot of Baylor and Nebraska (not big 12) recruiting into Utah these days, which makes the fact that we seem to have really locked down the in state talent the last few years feel even sweeter.

Didn’t Colorado used to have a rivalry with Nebraska at some point? Those two train wrecks ought to be evenly matched

Imagine the outrage down south if they schedule us to play Colorado for rivalry week.

J Rocksville replied to the topic Remaining schools… in the forum Pac-12 1 year, 3 months ago
Thinking out loud, Stanford could easily put together an independent schedule, but I wonder if cal could even pull it off with the four corner schools all having a desire to stay relevant in California for recruiting.
Apple jumps on those brands and gets some football content and maybe they can get enough subscribers to get themselves in the…[Read more]

So what’s the betting odds here? Stanford goes independent and the other three jump into the mountain West? Maybe apple jumps in and talks Stanford into joining them and apple kicks in some money and incentives that allow those bigger programs to generate enough subscription revenue to stay in the ball park financially? That gets apple into the…[Read more]

We don’t usually compete with the premier schools anyway. Even the “p2” really only has maybe a dozen programs that consistently rank in the top ten. We’ve been able to get there by developing our own talent and culture, and that probably won’t change much.
I bet we see ourselves schedule non conference games in California as much as possible,…[Read more]

How often do you think we’ll even play them? I’m guessing they’ll put us in a west division with byu, Colorado, Zona, asu, Kansas, kstate, and maybe Iowa st and tt? So we’ll play those 7 and rotating 2 on the other side?

J Rocksville replied to the topic Proposed Apple Deal: How much is enough? in the forum Pac-12 1 year, 3 months ago
There’s also a decent chance that Apple owns ESPN before too long. I suspect in that scenario, if we had a deal with Apple TV, Apple would find a way to push us onto the ESPN platform as well.
But in the end, we just need to keep winning. We’ve been able to win by recruiting our kinds of kids and developing them, and while we are getting better…[Read more]

I agree with all the sentiment about missing eyeballs and an opportunity to get your brand in front of people that aren’t already familiar with your brand. Only people that already care about those teams would be subscribing, and with out LA, that’s going to hurt. The subscription service should be an add on benefit for schools to get a chunk of,…[Read more]

I was joking about that just recently…that ESPN would decline us, we’d sign with Apple, Apple would buy ESPN, and we’re back in business.
