Seems to me like Whit uses the depth chart as a way to motivate the players. He takes a psychological approach to it throughout Spring and Fall camps. 17 days!

Love this site. I’d like to be able to change my profile name, but it doesn’t allow me to. Is there a way to do that?

MBAute89 replied to the topic Red goggles aside, where does Utah finish in the South? in the forum Football 8 years, 3 months ago
Red goggles aside, I think Utah finished anywhere in the top three of the South. The two areas that still concern me are offensive production and depth. I don’t think we have the depth of USC or UCLA still, which is why we tend to stumble in November. So, if we can fix our quarterback and receiver issues and avoid the injury bug, we should be a…[Read more]

I’m thinking the horrible 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter offensive showing in the Vegas Bowl finally woke Whittingham up to the realization that his stellar D can only do so much without even a mediocre offense. It seems like real progress is being made to shore that up and make improvements. Shows humility and good judgment by coach Whit.

My assessment of Sitake: great recruiter, great “player’s coach”, but honestly, the jury’s still out on his coaching ability. We will find out soon enough if he can stand on his own or if his defensive success was merely a product of KW. Here’s hoping to a steep learning curve for Sitake!

MBAute89 replied to the topic Las Vegas Bowl – The silence is deafening in the forum Football 8 years, 11 months ago
@admin I couldn’t disagree more. Look at what transpired on Saturday. 197 yards of offense. None of the higher bowls wanted that. We deserved to fall to the Las Vegas bowl in my opinion. I don’t blame the Sun, Foster Farms, or Holiday Bowl one bit. The rules allow for this to happen. We can either change the rules (not likely) and force the bowls…[Read more]

@ute98 I think I can concede that conference affiliation can kill a rivalry, and certainly in some instances (i.e. when the programs are so far apart in terms of talent and level of competition that it makes no sense to play each other) it could make sense. But, that is not the case with the BYU/Utah Rivalry, no matter how bad we Utah fans want to…[Read more]

You guys are crazy, IMO. I’m as diehard a fan you’ll come across, but I also realize that a rivalry adds so much to the experience of supporting a team. The comments represented on this board display an arrogant “holier than thou” attitude towards BYU, which I find quite ironic. If this rivalry “ends” like you all seem to want, I can…[Read more]

Oh how quickly we forget. Moose, wasn’t this the attitude of Alabama when we beat them in the Sugar Bowl? Let us not forget where we came from, lest we become the same enemy we derided years ago.
Let’s be humble, accept our fate, get up for the game, and kick some cougar tail. Whether you want to believe it or not there is much more national…[Read more]

MBAute89 replied to the topic Utes to face BYU in 2015 Las Vegas Bowl – Your Comments? in the forum Football 8 years, 11 months ago
^This is the attitude we as fans need to have. I’m sick of seeing fans on facebook or other blogs saying, “boycott the bowl!” We have no one to blame but ourselves for appearing so unappealing to the higher bowls. So now, play with a chip on our shoulders and pound the TDS into the dirt.

MBAute89 replied to the topic For those who say our offense sucks… in the forum Football 8 years, 12 months ago
C’mon man, are you really comparing a video game to real life here? I get the frustration over Wilson. But I don’t think you’re in any position to say, “it’s easy”, when there’s only maybe 30 competent pro and college quarterbacks in the WORLD right now.

MBAute89 replied to the topic One of the worst parts about a loss in the forum Football 9 years ago
Tony, this is perfect. My problem with the NFL’s overtime rules is that it’s inherently unfair. Of the 42 overtime games through 2014 with the new OT rules, 57% of teams that won the coin toss won in overtime. So a “chance” coin toss is somewhat determining the outcome of the game because teams who win the overtime coin toss gain an advantage…[Read more]

MBAute89 replied to the topic B1G/P12 scheduling in the forum Football 9 years ago
Would a better alternative then be to have a six team playoff, with the 1 & 2 seeds getting a bye? That way you motivate teams to have a stronger strength of schedule to get the higher seed.
Another alternative is to mandate 9 conference games with a minimum of one P-5 and one G-5 conference game per year.

I think you want UCLA to beat Wazzu, as it will improve Utah’s overall strength of schedule.
