Conservative offense: seems instead of playing to win we play to not lose. 2-3 tight end sets that don’t spread the field and easy to defend. The thinking has been with Wilson keep it simple and don’t make any mistakes and our defense will hold them to 1-2 scores and we can win by running game, short passes and control the clock.
Lou Saban sai…[Read more]

I see no reason we can’t win the rest of our games. We have the talent. Hopefully the players meeting aired some feelings that can be relayed to the coaching staff. We are the hunters now not the hunted.

With bad moon disappearing in the night we are officially back to the future. Can Wilson get the team behind him and finish the year strong ? With six games left and nothing to lose will Whitt and Lud open things up and let the offense and defense take chances and play loose and have fun playing football again? Will the Utes reel off six wins…[Read more]

Thanks for clarifying. The wheelchair comment along with the stop the game struck me wrong. I know you mean well. I too think Cam took his last snap as a Ute. It looked like a knee injury the way he bent. Right knee this time.I think honoring him before the Iowa state game on senior night is enough. I’m sure he hates the focus being on him. I t…[Read more]

For a competitor and ultimate team player to go out 1st play second quarter take a knee cost your team a down and stop the game so we can glorify him on senior night. It’s a low blow to think he would ever agree to that. Can you imagine Whitt letting that happen?

The leg injury occurred on the first series. He went from almost healthy to not healthy. If you can’t push off your back foot it’s hard to get velocity. Add in the gripping the ball issues and the low throws are the results.

I agree Holladay. Heat of the moment comments. Let things play out this year and if he’s unhappy he should transfer. I don’t see Whitt coming back or Ludwig ( game time decision) and either the team rallies around Scalley and moves forward or you get some major portal losses.

That’s a low blow Champ. Bottom line he wasn’t healthy enough to play. Cam felt the pressure to play and hoped he could gut it out. The injured leg was a nail in the coffin. We don’t know the extent of the injury but you know it’s bad. Out indefinitely or season ending?

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Players only meeting? in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
A players only meeting would be time to air out any issues players are having with schemes coaching and how to move forward. Team leaders will relay the message to coaches.
I think the only issue the players might have with Cam is the long leash he was given Friday. The offense played well but Cam couldn’t deliver. If I was on offense or d…[Read more]

Or move to get out of trouble or run for a first down. If you can’t throw you better be able to run.

Thanks for the insight Ghost. We as fans have no clue what’s going on inside the locker room. We have weapons but Rising can’t throw and Wilson is being nurtured. Seems we are not utilizing our offensive talent. Maybe we need a college style offense instead of a pro style?

I agree Miami. I’m a huge Cam fan and I would have taken him out when it was clear he was hurt. Playing through an injury is one thing. Playing through two injuries (hand and leg)is impossible.

Yes Anfernee the whole team seems snake bitten. Would Reid or Tanuvasa made a tackle on Scattabos two long touchdown runs?
I sometimes wonder if this hard physical play mantra is sustainable at times. Sometimes just wrapping up and making a tackle works over trying to decleat someone.
Our offensive line was really good last game. Too bad we…[Read more]

Ludwig is a great coach with a healthy Cam. Not so great without him. Cams ability to run for first downs and move the chains made Ludwig look good.

We finally get our QB back and first series he gets hit and twists his knee or ankle. We got a glimpse of why he hasn’t played. He still can’t grip the ball. I would guess 50% of normal to start the game throwing. His ability to run and put a spark back in the team was worth the risk even though Wilson gave us a better chance to win.
It was obv…[Read more]

What player wouldn’t want to play? Especially Cam since he has been criticized already for not playing hurt. It’s on the coaches to decide. It was a no brainer to me after watching him struggle to pass and then lose his mobility. Whitt should take some heat.

100% true Charlie. When I saw him get bent backwards I thought for sure he was out. The problem the injury now he is immobile and can’t throw both. At least without the leg injury he could run for first downs or get out of trouble.
I’m a huge fan of Cam and was surprised to see him struggle to throw. I can see now why he hasn’t played. Add a leg…[Read more]
