I know I’m old but I’m not a fan of the 8:30 games. The weather was perfect last home game and made it more bearable. 5:30-7:00 would be ideal. Come on ESPN give us an early game for once.

Backer either that loss is a blessing in disguise or we just weren’t that good to begin with. We will find out Friday. Whitt likes the back against the wall coaching. One more loss and the season is over. Can’t wait for Friday to see which team comes to play. As Elvis would say “It’s now or never”

This team was built to contend for a playoff spot. Not having Cam is a major blow to team success. What is the mindset going forward? Our backs are against the wall now. Wilson has proven he can win.
Hope week in and week out for Cams return or go all out with whoever is QB and open up the offense and defense. Play with a chip on your shoulder…[Read more]

Analytics don’t take in to consideration of play calling, line blocking or size of your running back. It makes coaching predictable. If you don’t have confidence to get the first down or touchdown on fourth kick the field goal.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic What I hope the team/coaches are working on for Az St. in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Good points bleedsred. Our front four is not applying QB pressure. Hall got a couple pressures blitzing. Last year Barton was a beast blitzing. I don’t remember seeing him pressure the QB at all. Lack of big running back has been missed in the short yardage situations.
ASU has a young mobile QB that can hurt you with his legs and arm. Put p…[Read more]

Big question is can the team rally behind Wilson and get a win Friday if Cam is still out? Obviously the coaches and team are fully aware of his situation. He has been practicing and they have witnessed first hand how he is gripping and throwing the ball. Maybe knowing he is actually getting close to playing will inspire them to get through one…[Read more]

I’m still waiting for that cloud over our heads to disappear and a new day with a Rising sun to appear.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Comparison scoring can be misleading in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
I agree Miami. I don’t feel like we’ve played a complete game yet. Defense has been good minus a few plays and offense has played not so good with a few good plays.
As of now it looks like we were overrated. 7 games left to prove otherwise. Cam comes back and gives us a spark the season can still be successful. Lots of pressure on two fingers.

I agree UtesRule enough already. Let’s play the next 7 games and save the negative vibes for after the season.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Knowing what we know now, if you were in Whitt's shoes in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Miami I’m sure they looked at options at QB. 2023 was a mistake not finding a portal QB. 2023 was a disaster period. 2024 is a different circumstance. Rising was the right choice to give us the best chance to win and mentor Wilson. We are 4-1 which everyone predicted we would be at this point. 7 games left its a little early to judge on results u…[Read more]

Last year was a disaster any way you look at it. So at the end of last season our options were:
1. Rose who never took a snap and got beat out by Barnes.
2. Wilson an incoming freshman
3. Find a veteran QB in the portal who doesn’t know Ludwig’s offense (Bentley and Brewer) and want 1.7 million Gabriel unknown$$ Cam Ward. Neither and the oth…[Read more] -
Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Who do want winning this weekend to help Utah? in the forum Football 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Anyone that’s ahead of us in the standings. Things could get interesting as the season progresses. The BYU and ISU games at home are looking much bigger than predicted. The conference is up for grabs.

I agree they will not be a push over. They want to kick us while we’re down. ASU might be favored if Rising is still out. Two weeks to get ready is a big advantage like AU had last week.

I remember those days also proud Ute. 10,000-20,000 at the games. 6-6 was considered a good season. We have come along way with lots of bumps in the road along the way. The loss to Arizona is just another bump.

Miami remember when we used to say the big boys were afraid to play us. We can beat anybody. We could be competitive in a P5 conference. Don’t miss the New Mexico Wyoming UNLV games. Air Force was always a test. BYU TCU were always a big rival for conference title. You could drive to most away games.

Let’s use this bye week to decompress and reflect on the positives. How many hours our coaches put in. How many hours the players put in. Our high graduation rate. How many players pass on what they have learned to coaching youth football and being well respected community members.
How proud we are as fans to watch the transformation of a p…[Read more]

The problem with not disclosing the severity of an injury leads everyone to believe the best case scenario. Why not just disclose what the injury is and we can understand why he isn’t playing. This gamesmanship doesn’t fly anymore. I’m sure there is leaks in the locker room and opposing teams seem to know more than we do. Not that anyone cares…[Read more]

Thanks alohaute for the baseball post. It’s nice to see some playoff talk. I haven’t watched hardly any baseball this year but I will follow the padres. I was a huge yankee fan growing up when baseball was king and Mickey Mantle was my idol.

Miami Whitt tried the portal with Brewer who was great at Baylor and Bentley from South Carolina. Neither worked and the big money QBs were getting more than Cam and wouldn’t give Utah a thought with our conservative offense. I think you’ll be surprised at Cams abilities. I know he has been out but he went through spring and fall and looked goo…[Read more]
