It blew me away. These are high school kids. Maybe a problem with Wilson is he thinking too much?

Anfernee thanks for the breakdown. The offensive scheme comment stuck out with me. He said it takes 2-3 years to fully understand the offense. He has made comments in the past about Rose not fully grasping the offense. So Wilson must be doing a crash coarse to figure out the offense.
Again that’s old school development where it takes 2-3 years t…[Read more]

Maybe a QB-OC combo.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Injuries in the forum Football 1 week, 1 day ago
Case in point BYU 9-1 with very few injuries and 5-7 last year with multiple injuries. Hard to replace a 6th year senior QB. Injuries have derailed two seasons. Most of our backups aren’t quite ready to fill in without some drop off. Imagine if Bernard would have gone out.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Money's Not a Problem in the forum Football 1 week, 1 day ago
Thanks Miami for the interesting OC pay. If Whitt stays or retires he consults Scalley. We have the money to pay an experienced OC. The offense needs to be designed off the talent you have not the talent you wish you had.
History shows we can recruit RBs and TEs but with the portal there will be disgruntled playmakers that are not getting a…[Read more]

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic QB in the forum Football 1 week, 1 day ago
The million dollar question is does Wilson or Rose transfer or do they stay and fight. Wilson has got valuable snaps that freshman rarely get. In hindsight Rose should have been the back up.
Both have room for improvement and if they both stay along with Huard the QB room could be strong. The QB competition will be intense. A new OC and fresh…[Read more]

The zoobs are 9-1. Lucky? Good? A win is a win give them credit. They have a shot at the CFP and that’s everyone’s goal before the season.

We are assuming the donors will give the same money. Rising gave us a chance at the CFP and had name recognition.

Best thing about this game is we only have to suffer through 2 more instead of 3. This season can’t get over quick enough.

Jim Vanderhoof started the topic Pathetic offense in the forum Football 1 week, 3 days ago
It’s hard to believe how bad our offense has become. Is it lack of talent or coaching or both?
I’ll take a stab. Lack of confidence and identity ( both). Playing not to lose (coaching). Lack of depth (both). QB that can run for first downs (talent). Bottom line is it’s a combination of both. Whitt and O staff just can’t come up with any answers…[Read more]

I agree Anfernee. College football needs to adapt the NFL model for injuries. One question: how has the gamesmanship worked out for Utah the last two years? Whitt is setting players up for failure. Cam said he was ready to go the first game after he got hurt against Baylor. He wasn’t ready 4 weeks later against ASU and shouldn’t have played.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic New to Utehub and hopeful vs Colorado in the forum Football 1 week, 4 days ago
The betting line was 11.5. If Wilson is out that could go higher. Colorado will put points on the board. Don’t know if we can score more than 14 with Bottari. Colorado is playing for a CCG and we are playing to get the season over.

Rick I would normally agree with you. I agree a QB is the most important position on the team. Take away 2 years of Rising and 1 year of Huntley and the Qb room has been below average.
Whitt and Lud have run a pro style offense and defense. If you want to compete with the big boys you have to be more innovative with your schemes. They are too set…[Read more]

I agree proud Ute. Injuries and the handling of the QBs has been Whitts Achilles heel over the years. Strong defense and running game has always been his strength. Old school football and old school thinking.
Landscape of college football is changing with NIL portal and handling of young entitled players. The generational gap is becoming more…[Read more]

Lots of eyeballs on this game being the early Fox time slot and CU. Exactly what players want.

A victory or at least a close game will reveal the culture of the program. If Wilson can get a win it would be huge boost for him going forward and show his character as a leader.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Details about Rose's injury makes me even more disappointed in our coaching staff in the forum Football 1 week, 5 days ago
Unbelievable. Not only the injury but the fact he stayed in the game. I’m a huge Whitt fan and rarely question his decisions. The ASU game it was clear Rising couldn’t grip the ball and throw. Playing hurt leaves you susceptible to getting injured worse or hurting something else protecting the other injury. A QB that can’t throw plant or run i…[Read more]

Last year TDS lost 5 in a row and didn’t get the bounces. This year we have lost 5 in a row and haven’t got the bounces. So much parity in college football other than the blue bloods anyone can win on a given day. You can’t win if you can’t score. I hope Scalley takes over and goes all in on a new offense.

I can see Deion going to a Florida school or SEC school. He constantly complains about cold weather games. He’s not NFL ready. Jerry Jones might roll the dice but they can’t win with an experienced NFL coach.
