Man I hope he is right. I think we have the talent and senior leadership to take one game at a time and not overlook any opponent. The team goal will be winning the conference which will get an automatic bid to the playoff.
We just need to stay healthy and focused. Should be an exciting year and it will fun seeing some new teams and stadiums.

I’m not LDS but love the diversity of having both. Our Ute LDS fans are awesome and I enjoy interacting with them just as much as the non LDS fans. Never been a fan of the “ holy war” theme. Rivals should be proximity based not religion based.

I remember sitting in the student section and a couple BYU football players came up to the student section took off their helmets and started taunting us before the game. It had snowed the night before so there was snow in the bleachers. One of them pointed to his package. It was Todd Christiansen. The arrogance got the best of and I nailed him in…[Read more]

I remember the nightmares of 70’s and 80’s proud Ute. BYU would beat us easily every time and would rub it in our faces. Never has the phrase “you can dish it out but you can’t take it” been so appropriate as now.
Thank goodness we had basketball to look forward to back then. Listening to Y fans complain about Ute fan behavior toward them make…[Read more]

I think we’ll have some close games especially on the road. Will they be shootouts or defensive games. I can see 38-40 and 17-20 at home but not on the road.

Bernard is a given. Question can Mitchell surpass Glover at #2. I agree with proud Ute that by game 4 we should have a better idea. Andrews is a new name I believe he was recruited as an athlete?

I agree with you proud Ute on Singer and Kuithe. My hope is we throw the ball downfield more which leads to some big plays.

Box out basketball skills could come in handy around the goal line or to pick up a first down. He is used to high pointing the ball. Anyone know his speed?

Thanks MD that was a great review. All the pieces of the puzzle are there we just need to put them together. Offense looks much better than last year and defense equally as good or maybe better. Kicking and punting look strong. Special teams still to be determined but lots of athletes to choose from.
Could be an amazing year for the team and the fans.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Just For Funsies… Cam for Heisman? in the forum Football 3 months, 4 weeks ago
I’ll take wins, playoff birth and a healthy Cam over a heisman. Heisman would be icing on the cake. Play to win and let the chips fall. Nice thought Archeryute.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Breakout players in 2024? in the forum Football 4 months ago
Thanks onlyu. Fano struggled some as a freshman at left tackle. Move to right tackle maybe better run blocking and more experienced. Tao will have a breakout at safety which is the hardest position to play on our defense in my opinion.

Well said. I was fortunate to enjoy the 60s and 70s before Utah was discovered. Growth is a negative in Utah at this point. Ask anyone from Denver.

I’m with you Dallas. Glover can’t break through the arm tackles. He looks powerful enough but is more of a 1 yard and a cloud of dust instead of 4 yards.
I’m hoping he is bigger and stronger this year. Defense can’t stack the box with Rising so hopefully he can get past the D line.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic FOOTBALL is almost here! in the forum Football 4 months, 1 week ago
More big plays. Rising needs to show the NFL he can throw the ball downfield. Defenses hate the big plays and will defend against them opening up the underneath routes and running game. I can’t wait to see Alford Parks and Singer catching deep balls. We have the weapons and the qb go for it Ludwig.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic TE Question????? in the forum Football 4 months, 2 weeks ago
Lohner could be a sleeper around the end zone. At 6’7 240 hard to guard. Great rebounder so knows how to block out.
