Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Are you ready to drink the Kool-Aid? in the forum Football 3 months, 1 week ago
I’m sipping the koolaide and ready to start guzzling the koolaide. I need a Big 12 road game to gauge how we play on the road in front of a hostile crowd. I don’t think anyone can beat us at home.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Any scrimmage tidbits? in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
I agree proud Ute. I too have watched them all. Mitchell was a gun slinger and coach Fassel was innovative ( remember the duck). Smith was so intelligent and a great leader. Rising ultra competitive and the ultimate leader. Tough to put any of those three above the other. Huntley was very good and a close second. Johnson was a coach on the field.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Thoughts on Utah Sports Radio? in the forum Misc 3 months, 2 weeks ago
I enjoy both stations. Hans is a good football analyst and tells it like it is (no blue goggles). He and Scotty G are great together. Checketts is a good interviewer and has good guests. DJ and PK are a fun listen. We are lucky to have both.

I’m with you proud Ute. I read CB to get my daily laugh and to remind myself why nobody likes them.

Woods would have been another weapon.Fingers crossed that we can get through the preseason healthy.

They are both really good. Just need to stay healthy. Lander has NFL size and speed. Reid has lots of game experience. Lander could get more sacks this year.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic We are doomed! in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
They did win the pac 12 in 2021. They have national brand that everyone follows (LDS members). Everyone should get the BYU college experience. Oh and crud everyone likes us. Who else gives free ice cream to visiting fans. We are better than Utah ask Bosco and the 84 team. How can we compete with that?

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Mike Mitchell in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Hopefully he will get some reps the first three games. It would be a huge boost to the offense if he can get those 3rd and 1 1st downs. We need a physical back to take the pressure off Bernard.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Isaac Wilson QB2 in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Whitt and Ludwig make players earn their positions. Isaac outperformed the other two to win the job simple as that. That’s impressive for him as a true freshman. A year behind Rising and hopefully a few snaps in games should catapult him in to next season.

Close look at the RBs. Let Cam throw downfield to show future opponents they need to defend the whole field.

Nice come back I’ll give you that. Is that an honor code violation? Hopefully there isn’t a fellow student on this board to turn you in.

Caliman has BYU humor written all over him. Sounds like the typical dig on grammar to make them look smarter. Can’t say I blame him there isn’t much football to talk about on cougar board these days.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic U of U Football Digest in the forum Football 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Man I hope he is right. I think we have the talent and senior leadership to take one game at a time and not overlook any opponent. The team goal will be winning the conference which will get an automatic bid to the playoff.
We just need to stay healthy and focused. Should be an exciting year and it will fun seeing some new teams and stadiums.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic 4* OT Aaron Dunn announces on Aug 8th in the forum Football 3 months, 3 weeks ago
I’m not LDS but love the diversity of having both. Our Ute LDS fans are awesome and I enjoy interacting with them just as much as the non LDS fans. Never been a fan of the “ holy war” theme. Rivals should be proximity based not religion based.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic It's a great time to be a Ute football fan in the forum Football 3 months, 3 weeks ago
I remember sitting in the student section and a couple BYU football players came up to the student section took off their helmets and started taunting us before the game. It had snowed the night before so there was snow in the bleachers. One of them pointed to his package. It was Todd Christiansen. The arrogance got the best of and I nailed him in…[Read more]

I remember the nightmares of 70’s and 80’s proud Ute. BYU would beat us easily every time and would rub it in our faces. Never has the phrase “you can dish it out but you can’t take it” been so appropriate as now.
Thank goodness we had basketball to look forward to back then. Listening to Y fans complain about Ute fan behavior toward them make…[Read more]

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic 2024 – Points per game in the forum Football 3 months, 3 weeks ago
I think we’ll have some close games especially on the road. Will they be shootouts or defensive games. I can see 38-40 and 17-20 at home but not on the road.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Will we have/need/want a RB1 or go with a committee? Who will lead? in the forum Football 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Bernard is a given. Question can Mitchell surpass Glover at #2. I agree with proud Ute that by game 4 we should have a better idea. Andrews is a new name I believe he was recruited as an athlete?
