Jim Vanderhoof started the topic Utah State Aggies in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
I was unable to watch the USU USC game Saturday night (supposed to be on the Big 10 channel) because our area was blacked out. I follow the Aggies every year. A good friend of mine is the PA guy for fb and bb.
The firing of the coach and assistant athletic director has derailed what could have been a good season. The new coach is young and…[Read more]

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Backup qb situation in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
They all count the same on the scoreboard Miami. What I saw personally was speed down the field and Rising looking to make some big plays. Rising in the past only looked for the safe short pass. To get to the NFL he needs to complete the 20+ yrd passes.
Singer and Parks are a dangerous combo for a defense because of the deep pass. Nick Saban…[Read more]

Good post thirty four. What’s the coach speak for QBs. “ the game will start slowing down”. I think that will happen with Wilson. He is mobile and has a good arm.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Backup qb situation in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
How can you say the offense is the same. Rising has 7 touchdown passes in two half’s minus the two last drives Wilson got before the half’s.
Wilson led team looks a lot the same as last year. He needs time to develop. Whitt and Ludwig are going to play the best player that’s ready.
Rising please come back soon. We can’t win the big games w…[Read more]

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Cam shouldn't play Saturday (even if available) in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
I have heard laceration and x ray was negative. That could mean stitches on the index finger? If that’s the case let it heal. It could be healed or at not in danger of making it worse plus the pain and grip on his throwing hand.
I’m sure Whitt will let us know his status. Not.

Great points. Freshman QBs always struggle at some point. Mainly on the road with crowd noise and the home team amping the defense to force mistakes.
Whitts defensive pressure on freshman QBs is always noticeable.

Does anyone know the extent of Cams injury? I think that will determine if he plays or not. If he has any chance of reinjuring his hand sit him.
Sure he needs reps but we need him healthy for OSU reguardless of the rust. He has lots of big game experience and Wilson would be like a deer in the headlights.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Dorian Singer is a Ludwig WR.. in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
Singer looks great to me. He will get better each game learning the system and getting the timing down.
The combination of him and Parks are money! We just need to get them the ball. Nick Saban said on the college game day that big plays are must to win games now. You can’t depend on the run and short passing game. That’s proven true in our fir…[Read more]

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Let's give Wilson a chance in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
I heard Whitt say the same thing proud Ute. He also said the team needs to step up when Rising is out. They looked sluggish the second half. Part of the Rising mystic is his ability to get the team energized. Wilson is a true freshman and he needs to have a good game to get his confidence and the team to play hard when he is in the game.

Building the right culture takes time and extra effort. The older players teach work ethic to the younger guys. Transfers leave because of playing time or to be part of a better culture. That has become our best recruiting sales pitch.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic New Poll: Week 2 Grade – Baylor at Utah in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
Wow. Interesting viewpoint and numbers to back it up. Seems every year it takes us a few games to get in rhythm and find our identity on offense and defense. A lot comes down to leadership and a great QB. We are a totally different team when Rising is on the field.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Buffs in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
Colorado is proof you can’t win with portal players.New players every year don’t know the offense and defense. Recruit and develop is still the focus of top teams (Utah). The portal can provide depth and fill a weakness.

We haven’t played a conference game yet. We are playing in a conference where we have a chance every year to make the playoffs.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Is our run game really that bad? in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
Difference is size. We don’t have that big bruiser that can get an extra couple of yards. Mitchell doesn’t seem to have size. We have speed and when Rising is on the field that speed becomes more of a factor.
Bottom line is with Rising speed is more important. Wilson on the field we need power running game. The offense is built for Rising let…[Read more]

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Baylor in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
Heat could play a factor. 90 + degrees tomorrow!! Depth could come in to play. Both lines will get tested. Baylor is used to the heat plus humidity. It played a factor last year in Waco. Will that affect the offense or defense more? We are much better offensively than last year. Bring your sombreros tomorrow. Go Utes

Wow interesting stats Yergie. Hopefully they are setting up teams to concentrate on the TE and give the WR more room and 1 on 1 coverage. Singer and Parks have the speed to go deep. Big plays Saturday. 🤞
