Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Honest question, who is Dampier going to throw to? in the forum Football 3 weeks, 2 days ago
Williams looks really good. With all the contact (holding) allowed in the Big12 the bigger stronger receivers can get separation easier.

Imagine having a QB that doesn’t take 3 years (Ludwig) to learn the offense.

Thanks Miami. Could be worse. We may have to change the “family” chant at the start of the 4th quarter to “NIL”.

I was a student athlete. We shared the weight room with the student body and lived in the dorms with a meal ticket. To say the university pocketed the money is wrong. I have a grandson playing high school football and would be thrilled if he got a scholarship and opportunity to play college football.
I’m not sure what my argument was? You have a…[Read more]

My sentiments exactly proud Ute. Eagle have you seen the football and basketball facilities? University pocketing the money? The excess money has gone back to improving the facilities for the players for many years. I’m fine with paying the players but most athletic departments are losing money.

All true Utah. The one exception is most colleges are public institutions. They are there to provide our kids with an education and life changing experience. College sports provide scholarships and activities for students. Alumni and fans buy tickets and gear to support the sports programs and the university. How many professors make 1-8 million a…[Read more]

Yesterday I was driving around the valley Christmas shopping and listening to sports talk radio. The one and done 7 million dollar high school kid was the rage.
Almost every corner had a man or woman holding a sign asking for help. It made me think about the money being spent on coaches, players, scholarships, recruiting and rising ticket prices…[Read more]

Tough call on bringing in Dampier. His numbers may not transfer to the P4 level. I think Beck will adapt the offense to the talent of the QB. I would bring him in as an insurance policy but be open to a different style QB. I like the throw first run second type also. A young Josh Allen would be perfect. ( in my dreams anyway)

I don’t care where he goes. Off field issues locker room issues parent issues entitlement issues all go away. Let cougarboard take over all the bulls**t.

I’m with you Anfernee. Whitt would have retired if he didn’t want to right the ship. I would definitely say he is pissed off and fired up. Time will tell.

I’m with you Proud Ute. If Whitt is staying I will support him 100%. Hiring a QB friendly OC and Detmer to help out the QB room is a step in the right direction. I wish Rose would have stayed but I don’t blame him for leaving.
Hopefully we can get the New Mexico QB to lead the way for the young incoming QBs. Wilson was a bust for many rea…[Read more]

Trucks, more NIL money, playing time guaranteed etc etc. Lost in all the madness is a free education and life changing experience at a quality university. The entitlement has gone off the charts.
In a perfect world all scholarship players (in revenue generating sports) should get an equal amount of money per month as compensation for their…[Read more]

Coach McBride was on with Hans and is still connected with the program. He said Harding and Whittingham were untouchable as far as recruiting and being great position coaches. I focused in on the receivers several games to see if they were getting open. Part of the reason Wilson held the ball so long is nobody had separation. The DBs were allowed…[Read more]

It will boil down to which position coach has the most talent and if they can get the players to stay. Our obvious weakness was QB and RB with WR not to far behind. Beck takes care of QBs. RB room a disaster so Ganther is on the hot seat. Keeping Williams is a big deal. If he goes WR coach should be gone too. Whittingham and Harding should stay.

Just trying to lighten the mood. It’s amazing how we’ve gone from winning the conference and sending our beloved coach into the sunset with a CFP birth to a Losing season and wanting Whitt to retire. My how things can change.

The pieces are still there to have a good defense. Offense needs a new direction to keep our best players.

I was joking. Benedict Arnold was a traitor. Going to Texas from Oklahoma would be a traitor move.
