I was there with you and the 10,000 other fans in 1974. Rock bottom for Utah football. Wayne Howard brought energy and an O line coach named Ron McBride. Jim Fassel brought in the high scoring Scott Mitchell offense.
McBride brought MAFA and the family atmosphere. Urban brought the organization and will to succeed. Now Kyle with the toughness to…[Read more]

Anyone have any insight to injuries this week? I couldn’t find the weekly injury report (haha). We need JJ and a healthy O line to keep Washington’s offense on the sidelines
I have no source but I think Vaki has been dinged up a little. Hopefully he is 100% to help out on offense. I don’t think we’ve played the Penix led huskies, so hard to tell…[Read more]

Great post!! It’s been a great ride. Except you left out or deleted BYU. I can’t imagine they aren’t on the list with their well known brand.

Same as every other game we need JJ to play. Vaki could be more of a factor also. Barnes will have to run more for sure.
Not sure if the field is turf or grass. Grass gives the receiver an advantage. Turf helps the defense more.
We can’t play conservative and win. Receivers and Barnes have to play their best game to win. Wet grass might help o…[Read more]

No doubt the biased SEC and big ten have lots of tricks up their sleeve to leave us out.

High chance of rain and 15-25 wind. Does that help or hurt our chances? A little early to predict but Seattle gets a lot of rain.
Does that make our struggling throw game worse and make us more conservative on offense. We have not had a rain game yet to see how Barnes can handle a wet ball.
On the other hand Washington is a pass dominant…[Read more]

All of the above is sad but true. We have everything in place to be a great program. Great players want to be on national tv and big crowds. We have neither. The Jazz has also hurt. 41 home games with the best players in the world vs 18-20 year old entitled kids. Coaches have to walk on egg shells so they don’t hurt feelings or they transfer. I m…[Read more]

I was there when Jeff Ockel punched the New Mexico center during the game. I go back to Doug Moon and crowd favorite Granny Lash. Saw Merv Jackson play there. Dark and quiet during timeouts and half. No loud music. You could actually talk about the game during time outs.
My dad played for Jim Williams at CSU so we would go to the locker room…[Read more]

I’m hoping a move to the big twelve. Better basketball conference and new teams to watch will help.
I miss those sold out down to the last possession games. Van Horn, Miller, Ticky Burden, Newlin and so many more. The great teams that played together as a team instead of individuals.
Thanks city creek for your comments. Old school basketball w…[Read more]

Until the early 2000’s basketball was king at Utah. I know we had some bad coaching hires and teams that were mediocre at best. That would account for a drop in attendance but there is more to it.
1. Football is now king. Over lapping seasons with a perennial bowl game.
2. Blue hair crowd that got too old to fight the cold and strange game t…[Read more] -
Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Which QB do you take if you are an NFL GM? in the forum Football 12 months ago
Tough question. Do you pick potential or character over talent. Williams has the talent but does he have the character? Maye Penix Nix have the character. Do they have the talent?
I was to pick one of the four for my fantasy football team (NFL) I would have to go with Williams. He could potentially put up the bigger numbers.

Great synopsis 2008. Bottom line is we don’t have the talent. Oregon out schemed us and had better players. Barnes has enough tape to see his tendencies and he is average at best. Receivers are average.
Nix picked our defense apart. Quick throws and a strong run game keep us guessing and nullified our pass rush. They out schemed our defense. P…[Read more]

Winning a college football championship is the goal and dream of every kid. Reality of even getting in the playoff is almost non existent. Rising Kuithe have that chance of reality.
If they commit I think the rest of the team will also commit. Portal players will also be interested in winning a title. Cam could be the catalyst. I hope he comes…[Read more]

It’s tough for an offensive line when they have 7 and 8 in the box. Barnes holds the ball and goes right everytime. He never steps up. How good would the line be with Nix and their receivers?
Our defensive got dominated by Oregon. I think a good QB and balanced offense make an offensive line better. We have talent and Hardy isn’t the pro…[Read more]
