Don’t forget HS recruits. Lots of bases to cover.

The question isn’t who is not playing but who is left to play? Looks like a watered down CU game. I wonder if Tom Lovat is coming out of retirement to coach them. Glad we get 15 practices to work with next year portal transfers.
Don’t mean to be so negative but why play these bowl games at all? Recruiting players that might actually play nex…[Read more]

I guess we’ll see what kind of heart this team has. Having your home court full of rival fans would piss me off as a player. Respect is earned not a given. If you want fans back play inspired and earn respect.
With the Jazz being down. Now is the time to get some casual fans back. We are moving to the #1 basketball conference next year. Go Utes!

We need to send them back to Provo with a “L”. That’s the only way to shut them up! Sad that we can’t get enough student and fan support for a rivalry game.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Cole Bishop declares for NFL draft in the forum Football 11 months, 3 weeks ago
Sad to see him go. College and professional football has gotten so violent and the athletes are so big and fast. Injuries are now more common. He is 1 play away from ruining his career. It’s become an issue. Look at the number of injuries we had and the risk has become to great.

Im with you Miami. I was a huge baseball fan. The strike ended it for me. I don’t watch anymore. I quit going to Utah basketball because of style of play. I watch fewer Jazz and NBA games.
I now coach my grandsons baseball and basketball teams. I get the most enjoyment in teaching kids how to play the sports I grew up loving.

Just what we need. Lawyers and judges screwing up college sports. Maybe congress can help. Good luck with that. The only solution is stop watching and the market will correct itself. Rehabilitation for sports addiction is the only solution. I admit I’m an addict. Some SA (sports addiction ) meeting might get me off the couch so I miss a few g…[Read more]

Thanks Miami for the post. He makes some great points. Sad that we have got to this point. Money is driving the bus.

Well said Idaho. We have kids that can’t afford college. Homeless people crowding our streets and we are paying 18-21 yr olds millions to play football that have full ride scholarships.

It’s funny you bring the Miami Dolphins fan base. Growing up in the 60’s I became a die hard Packer and Yankee fan. Not because of affiliation to the cities. They won and were the only teams that played on TV. I bet you would find that true with each generation that didn’t have a local team. Kids want winners !! Except my brother who I share…[Read more]

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic FSU Treating the Orange Bowl as a Scrimmage? in the forum Football 11 months, 3 weeks ago
Bowl games used to be a big deal. It was a reward for a winning season. Plus extra practices for the younger guys. I see it more as a burden for coaches and players. Coaches need to spend that time recruiting and playing the NIL game. Players get burned out after spring and July – Dec. practices.
They need time to heal work on their bodies…[Read more]

Agree we’ve done well. Disappointment comes when we are set to be a potential playoff team and loose key players. Not sure there are any portal players that can fill those shoes.
Rising coming backs. Whitt and Lud ready to retire the window is closing fast. We need a total all in approach with some portal success.

Nice vent Utah. Lots of excellent points. Players got a free education and played for school pride. Look no further than the empty stadiums of G5 and low end P5. Deepest pockets wins.
Super league is inevitable. Let the big boys play each other. 16-24 teams two leagues.

I remember when a GM was asked what he thought of Pete Rose making a million dollars. He said he’s under paid. People come to watch him play. It’s the second baseman hitting .230 making 300,000 that is over paid no wants to see him play.
Reminds me of NIL !!

I agree Miami. It’s simple supply and demand. It’s proven QBs can make the biggest difference (Nix-Penix-williams etc). Big demand low supply$$. Same with proven ( starters with big numbers)RB WR TE DE high demand low supply$$.
Big pool of average players (starters with average numbers) Matthew’s and many more. They can help fill a need for l…[Read more]

I agree ghost. Losing Vaki and Bishop would be devastating for a playoff run. Safety’s are vital to our defense. Big learning curve regardless of talent.

Might be wise to wait awhile. He may just be testing the market to set a value. Bernard did it last year and returned when the grass wasn’t as green. I just move on to the man standing. But I get your anger.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Mikey Matthew’s in the Portal in the forum Football 11 months, 3 weeks ago
Maybe Whitt told him to test the market and see if he gets any offers. Utah may have a number in mind and he wants to see if he can get more. Didn’t Bernard enter last year and come back?
I guess you can play hard ball and say once you enter your done. Seems wiser option is to play along to seek value then try and match. If that’s the case eve…[Read more]

So sorry for the family. Sometimes we take rivalries and sports way too serious. Reality brings us back to what’s most important in life. We can all learn from your kind thoughts.

Sorry I missed your last point of showcasing the program. Throwing 10 passes with your 5 th string QB against a team that is always at the bottom of their league is showcasing weakness not strength. Just 1 opinion from a true fan.
