Saturday can’t come soon enough. All us armchair quarterbacks-coaches can cheer instead of criticize. Lots of unanswered questions can get answered.
Whitt has built a strong family culture for our program. It shows in recruiting and wins. Family is built on trust and respect for each other’s opinions.
I’m sure Whitt would like some do overs…[Read more]

Thanks Robo. I’ll try to double click reply. Never done a fan board before. I’m sure it’s the user not the site. I’ve really enjoyed all the different opinions. Wish all of us armchair QBs could suit up. We’d be unbeatable. Thanks to all who contribute.

Utebacker totally agree with your JJ and little Jaylon takes. He is too small for our style of play. 2 yards and a cloud of dust instead of JJ 4 yards and a bigger cloud of dust.
Where we differ is running on the perimeter and throwing down field can utilize our talent. We have some speed. Cam coming out with the truth about his well being will…[Read more]

UteBacker I hope you don’t believe that. I think we see a different mind set. Two weeks to adjust and NJ has a good enough arm to hit open receivers. You assume the coaches and players are satisfied with those two games.
This team is driven and they got a wake up call at OSU. Tough environment for a freshman qb. I see the WR picking it up. T…[Read more]

We shall see Saturday. My guess(as good as anyone’s)is that we figure out a way to get the ball downfield to our play makers. Play action and take a few chances deep to keep the defense honest.
NJ needs to make good decisions and run for 1st downs. I think we score 30 + this game. Cal couldn’t stop OSU at home. Unless we keep our game plan aga…[Read more]

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Should we copy Arizona’s defense against USC and UW? in the forum Football 1 year ago
I agree Tony. First game against usc last year was a disaster. They spread the field and made us tackle in space. Plus we had an aggressive pass rush which lacked containment and Williams got out of the pocket.
CCG we contained him on the edges and pressured up the middle. Made him stay in the pocket and throw. We were more prepared for the…[Read more]

Freshman qb for Cal. Hostile environment. Two weeks to regroup and refocus. Season still on the line for the Utes. Big game for defense and offense gets JJ back (wishful thinking). Utes cover the spread and win. Go Utes

Cal started a red shirt freshman against OSU. He played ok at home with a small crowd. He has not played in a hostile environment yet. Freshman QBs have not fared well RES.
I’m sure the odds makers know this fact and the Utes will be hungry to avenge their loss at home.
Million dollar question is how will our offense respond? Odds makers g…[Read more]

Whitt has put the turnover fear on him. Which makes him tentative. Doesn’t seem to be able to get the ball in tight spots and the receivers can’t get open and space for him to throw.
He proved he is a gamer against OSU which is a bug positive. He might surprise us all!!

Perfect storm for Whitt. He rolled the dice on Cam and Brandt. Under estimated the backup RBs and QBs. Possibly the best Pac 12 top half of all time.

Wonder if Cams doctor was on the chess team at USC. Cam will be cleared the day after the USC game. Just kidding!! His reputation is on the line. Do you blame him for not clearing Cam?
When is college football going make teams list injury reports like the NFL. Whitt has gone way overboard with Cams status. He knew the extent of the injury. Why…[Read more]

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Cal game – 1 P.M. kick on P12 Network in the forum Football 1 year ago
Fall is a busy time for kids and grandkids playing football and soccer. Night games are better for September October when it’s warm and to avoid conflicts.
November December day games are better for obvious reasons. Too bad the networks and money dictate what’s best for us the fans. Wouldn’t it be nice if we actually had input?

Agree Proud Ute. It’s disappointing to not know week in and week out who will play and what the injuries are. Whitt has been consistent with the injury report for years.
The number of injuries and number of key players being out is unusual. The pac 12 is better than ever this year. We need Cam and JJ to have a chance at a run.
Trying to stay p…[Read more]

Good point Ghost. The Cam or bust ends with Cal. Either he is in or out. If out let’s see what the young bucks can do.

Thanks EM. I think some of us old timers have a different expectation and hope. I’ve only missed a handful of home games since 1973 when I was a student. So have seen all the highs and lows. It’s been a fun ride. Fortunately there was no social media in the 70’s or we would have had a real reason to bitch. 2-5 win seasons against WAC oppon…[Read more]

Bye couldn’t come at a better time for both the team and the fans. The potential was there for a great year. We won four games on next man up and a stellar defense.
Reality has taken over. Best case Cam and JJ come back and we make run. Worst case we developed our young QBs and Rbs. Think positive and let’s support each other and the team. I’m…[Read more]
