We will have our hands full with the Big 12. Road games will be hard even against weaker opponents. With Texas and Oklahoma gone and the expanded playoffs the door is wide open.

The Big 12 was down this year. That can change in a year or two. The Pac 12 was horrible two years ago. BYU went 5-0. This year they would be 0-5.

    The Utes will be…[Read more]

  • 100% true Charlie. I’ve been in the tailgating for years. Most leave 10-15 minutes before kickoff. That creates a log jamb at the gates. The early starts made it hard for youth football and soccer families.
I was late 3 games (10-15 minutes before kickoff) and missed kickoff because of the mass of tailgaters
    Coming all together.

    Not to mention t…[Read more]

  • Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic QB in the forum Football 1 year ago

I thought Barnes improved during the season. He’s not a starting QB for the Utes. But he knows the offense and has game experience. He can come in if needed to finish a game if Cam goes out. Hopefully someone else can emerge as the #2.

He has value in the qb room. Cam would have struggled this year with all the injuries. It will be hard to get a…[Read more]

  • I heard the same. Ellis having surgery. Bishop high fever and Reid foot. I think Fotu has to sit the first half for targeting last game. Ouch!! The offense needs to carry their weight.

  • Worster is not a point guard. Why can’t we recruit a quick athletic point guard? Doesn’t seem that hard. Houston is athletic and pressures the ball. We have nobody that can handle the pressure at guard.

  • I agree with coaching. Coach K never made adjustments and the players never knew what their roles were. That’s what made Majerus so good. Lots of in game adjustments and every player on the team knew exactly what their role was.

  • This will be a good test to see if our size can match up with the athleticism of Houston. This will preview what we will see next year in the Big Twelve. This team looks a lot like a Majerus type team.

We need a quick athletic guard to penetrate and break down the defense. Our weakness will show today with the smothering defense. If Smith gets…[Read more]

  • Thanks Charlie. That exactly what we need!! He could help. Unbelievable the NCAA can leave players and teams hanging. Glad they have the student athletes interests at heart.

  • Charley I’m hoping Smith is a point guard that can penetrate and get to the basket. I’m unfamiliar with his status and position?

  • Good observations chin and FtheY. I’m with you. After being a huge Ute BB fan for 30 years I lost interest and quit watching. Past teams seem lost on offense and play like robots. No confidence and continuity.

Last night I saw a team that wanted to win. Carlson took charge and led them to victory. This team has experience and leadership. They l…[Read more]

  • Cam is not leaving. NIL money.. chance to make the CFP.. knows the offense.. legendary status as a Ute. This team could be really good next year if everyone stays and commits.

Barnes and hopefully Rose stays. Gives us depth at QB. JJ and Bernard return. Pick up another big physical RB, TE, and 2 or 3 WRs. New conference and challenges would be…[Read more]

  • Good question. He is no Saban but I’m sure he would be successful as long as his skin is as thick as his calves. High expectations!!!

  • Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Chip Kelley out in the forum Football 1 year ago

The new coach will need a big finger to plug the hole in the dike. It’s ready to break. Transfer portal will be buzzing with UCLA players. Add another gimme game for the Big Ten blue bloods.

  • Jim Vanderhoof started the topic Chip Kelley out in the forum Football 1 year ago

Looks like Chip Kelly will be fired. According to articles on the UCLA football website. Cheap buyout at 7-9 million. Cheap???? Compared to 77 million for Jumbo Jim.

7-9 million put into NIL would help sign some good players. It blows my mind how much money demands are being put on big boosters. At what point do they tap out? The deepest pockets…[Read more]

“We” meaning the coaching staff. Training staff and insiders like only u. Glad you were right. I guess “we” all should have listened to you. We are all fans and hope for the best. “We” might have thought different if the extent of the injury was known earlier.

    DeLaura : 864-1049 63.3% 62tds 31 int
    Rising. : 456-711 64%. 46tds 14 int

Just saying if we need a 1 and done QB he can be considered. Played for Mike Leach. Not many transfers have those numbers. I would rather have Cam. But Barnes Rose or Johnson?

I’m sure there are plenty more candidates out there. I would take Dart in a heartbeat but l…[Read more]

DeLaura is listed as a junior. If Cam decides to not come back he looks like a possible option. He is injured but looks like they will go with the young QB who is playing well. Just a thought.

  • Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic QB in the forum Football 1 year ago

We all had unrealistic illusions of Cam and Kuithe taking us to the promise land.(me included). We are back to reality now. We have seen our defense and need more playmakers on offense.

Cam and Kuithe would be healthy next year. The Big Twelve is a new challenge and teams are unfamiliar with our style of play on both sides. We have a legitimate…[Read more]

  • Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Cam Going Pro in the forum Football 1 year ago

Good post Nashville. That makes total sense. I’m sure Cam is smart enough to know his football days are numbered. His only hope of getting drafted is a deep playoff run next year.

He is a true leader and his presence has paid dividends with two Rose bowls. Play 1 more year and see what happens. He would be a great QB coach for Wilson if the NFL d…[Read more]
