I’m hoping a move to the big twelve. Better basketball conference and new teams to watch will help.
I miss those sold out down to the last possession games. Van Horn, Miller, Ticky Burden, Newlin and so many more. The great teams that played together as a team instead of individuals.
Thanks city creek for your comments. Old school basketball w…[Read more]

Until the early 2000’s basketball was king at Utah. I know we had some bad coaching hires and teams that were mediocre at best. That would account for a drop in attendance but there is more to it.
1. Football is now king. Over lapping seasons with a perennial bowl game.
2. Blue hair crowd that got too old to fight the cold and strange game t…[Read more] -
Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Which QB do you take if you are an NFL GM? in the forum Football 1 year, 4 months ago
Tough question. Do you pick potential or character over talent. Williams has the talent but does he have the character? Maye Penix Nix have the character. Do they have the talent?
I was to pick one of the four for my fantasy football team (NFL) I would have to go with Williams. He could potentially put up the bigger numbers.

Couldn’t agree more 4141. His entitlement includes everything but class and sportsmanship.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Barnes film study in the forum Football 1 year, 4 months ago
Great synopsis 2008. Bottom line is we don’t have the talent. Oregon out schemed us and had better players. Barnes has enough tape to see his tendencies and he is average at best. Receivers are average.
Nix picked our defense apart. Quick throws and a strong run game keep us guessing and nullified our pass rush. They out schemed our defense. P…[Read more]

Winning a college football championship is the goal and dream of every kid. Reality of even getting in the playoff is almost non existent. Rising Kuithe have that chance of reality.
If they commit I think the rest of the team will also commit. Portal players will also be interested in winning a title. Cam could be the catalyst. I hope he comes…[Read more]

It’s tough for an offensive line when they have 7 and 8 in the box. Barnes holds the ball and goes right everytime. He never steps up. How good would the line be with Nix and their receivers?
Our defensive got dominated by Oregon. I think a good QB and balanced offense make an offensive line better. We have talent and Hardy isn’t the pro…[Read more]

Way to represent section W 13. My 45th year in W13. He definitely got the “ dub” being with his dad, big game and great atmosphere.

Maybe it’s fate? Cam and Kuithe come back. We pick up a couple WR and a physical RB in the portal. Everyone returns on defense and we move to the big 12 where we can win the conference and get the 12 team CFP. Even with Cam and a healthy team getting through the pac 12 undefeated would be nearly impossible. A four team CFP was a long shot. Next y…[Read more]

I agree. We got caught up in the hype of game day and the USC win. Game day motivated the ducks and we just showed up. They have a much better offense with play makers. Nix is a veteran QB and he got rid of the ball quick and negated our pass rush.
Losing Barton on defense really showed. I’m disappointed we didn’t give them a better game. I’v…[Read more]

If the arrival was on the front add pig farmer on the back. Or save them for Isac Wilson. The Cam story is over this year. Let’s move on.

Porky Barnes. A big sewee when he takes the field. If he played for Oregon he’d be the the Millard Mallard.

Thanks warrior Ute. You can’t make this story up. In the age of egos, tattoos and entitlement it’s refreshing to see. Small town kid with big dreams, work ethic and love of the game can still find a roll on a big time college stage. Says a lot about our program.

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic New season, in the forum Basketball (Men) 1 year, 4 months ago
Follow up to my previous take. The size and athleticism on defense has changed the game. It used to be passing, moving the ball and finding the open man was fun to watch. Pick and roll dribble dribble basketball is not fun to watch. The days of Jack Gardner Jerry Pimm and Rick Majerus are long gone.

Remember when the Huntsman center was packed 15 minutes before the game started. I think Ute fans looked forward to BB because the football program was not great. Now it’s reversed.
A couple of bad coaching hires and lack of winning has hurt the program. No rivals in the pac 12. Plus BB had a much older fan base that can’t make the cold late nig…[Read more]
