Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Does the team want Isaac at QB? in the forum Football 3 weeks, 5 days ago
Where is Cam in this Qb debacle? If anyone has the pulse of the team it’s him. Why wouldn’t he step up and be a leader even if he’s out. Let the coaches know about the team concerns. These aren’t high schools kids anymore. Team leaders have access to coaches. Maybe Whitt and Ludwig wanted IW to be the the new Cam but he’s not.

I agree with physical skills it’s the development and decision making I was referring to. They all played bad regardless of skills.

Interesting thoughts. With the exception of Huntley and Rising Whitt has always struggled handling the QBs. Huard certainly couldn’t be any worse than the other two. Now we go in to the BYU game with no QB. The players always know who’s better or who they want to follow.

This team put too much pressure on itself to win. All year it seems like they play to not lose and make things harder on the whole team. It’s a domino effect that hits all phases. The kicking game is a reflection on the whole team.

A few years ago a freshman QB by the name of Jayden Daniels came to RES. He played for ASU. He was horrible and I remember thinking this guy is highly touted. By who ? He could run but couldn’t throw. Two years ago Dante Moore a 5* from Detroit came to RES with UClA and same results. Cam Ward was horrible at WSU his first year (transferred from s…[Read more]

Trying to get ESPN+ through xfinity. Anyone know how long you have to wait after sign up before it activates?

I’m always interested in who steps up and makes a play for the team. We have been playing not to lose and nobody wants to make a mistake. Play lose and have fun (novel idea).

A playoff game at the orange bowl in Miami would be fun. Some to get out of the cold for a few days.

Maybe he is a game time decision each week. Seriously either he isn’t good enough to play or Wilson just stands out at practice. Wilson emerged as the clear #2 in fall camp. It’s hard to believe he hasn’t as least got a series or two the last two years.

Wankers?
Nobody’s questioning what Whitt has done. Nobody is forcing him out. He has built a solid program with a winning culture that attracts recruits. Two questions you forgot to ask “is he going to retire soon” yes “ does that affect the program “yes. We already have the next coach in waiting. It would be different if we were hiring an…[Read more] -

I agree Anfernee. Ludwig leaving has put Whitt and Scalley in a bad spot. Whitt needs to decide what’s best for the program and culture. He should coach as long as he pleases but having a coach already in place is much different than Harlan having to find someone new.

It’s gone from the BYU experience and not paying players to here’s a few million and you only have to deal with our quirky rules for a year or less. Just sayin.

HC being the “closer” is exactly why Whitt should retire. Let Scalley be the closer with a new direction and energy. Ludwig resigning and disgruntled players are a crack in the armor of the culture that has been our best recruiting tool. Scalley is the coach in waiting to continue the culture Whitt has built (which in my opinion is his gre…[Read more]

Thanks Tony that’s good news. It will be interesting to see if Whitt steps down how many guys hit the portal or stay with Scalley. With Ludwig gone it’s time for a new era. Next year will be a rebuilding year so let Scalley mold a team with his vision.

High ticket prices late game starts and a bad product on the field. All leave a sour taste in my mouth. I would never boo but I have been disappointed in the whole game experience this year and last year. My 14 year old grandson and his friend who both play and love football fell asleep during the Arizona game. That sums it up for me.

If you’re a recruit and the head coach you want to play for is retiring possibly before you even get there. Head coach in waiting has no HC experience. Lots of seniors leaving and not much talent to build on. This year is the beginning of the end for a few years. Good time to step down and let Scalley start the rebuilding process. I expect lots o…[Read more]

Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Not hearing a damn thing about STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING in the forum Football 1 month ago
I agree with physicality if you have the size. There is a fine line between bulking up to be physical and losing mobility. OLine and Dline has to be physical. I’d take speed and agility over bulk and physical in the linebackers and safeties. Watch Lander make a tackle in space or overrun a play. He is muscle bound and unable to move laterally. Maybe it’s just me but it seems like we are playing not to lose. No energy or explosive plays. No special team excitement. The home games this year have been boring and little to get the crowd involved. Reality has over taken expectations. Losing two home games to inferior opponents is unacceptable to me as a season ticket holder.

At least we’ll find out if Ludwig is the problem. The players seemed to have lost confidence in the offense. Now playing for pride instead of championship.
