  • Hard nosed physical football = more injuries. Not all players are built to play that style and are more prone to getting hurt. Strength and conditioning is a big part of avoiding injuries but they still happen.

  • I’ve been a Ute BB and FB fan since the mid 60’s. From Jack Gardner (milk bottle under his seat) to Majerus. Basketball was king. Sellout crowds and national relevance. Football a .500 winning pct. was a good year and making a bowl game was a special year.

McBride brought back hope for football. Urban took us to the next level (with an inn…[Read more]

  • It seems our pass plays are generic. No different formations (move Singer around) no motion to give the receiver an advantage and pass plays that take too long to develop. The defenses never look confused and know right where to go. TCU had our defense in disarray several times.

We run when we should run and we pass when we should pass. No…[Read more]

  • I would say

  • Man Pedro it would nice if we came out in some different formations and move Singer and Kuithe around in different spots. If they’re blitzing almost every play tight end 5-10 yrd hook. Swing pass to the back in the flat. QB roll out. If every blitz turns in to a 10 yrd gain they might quit blitzing?

Obviously it is a big concern for Whitt and Scalley. Ludwig is taking a hit for the team by resigning. If we don’t turn things around this week and against BYU things could get pretty ugly.

Tough task to be a OC with limited talent at NW in a league with talented defenses. We should see his value this week in how he makes adjustments and if IW plays better.

  • I thought the line played good against ASU. Bad against AU and TCU. Both had an extra week to prepare for our potent or should I say putrid offense. Name one play in the last three games where the other team got burned for blitzing. If’s hard to block when the other team knows your plays. Same shifts and motion. Defense just stands there when w…[Read more]

I agree Tony. I didn’t see one adjustment in the offense since the Utah state game. Same plays that take too long to develop. Bernard being depended on to move the ball every series. This “pro style” offense isn’t working.

I agree Tednab but it’s not like we don’t have any talent. The players are frustrated and need a change. It’s been two years since our offense last clicked with Cam. Defenses are just teeing off on the QB. If the armchair QBs can see it then surely the coaches can too. I’ll be curious to see the offense this week. Keep Whitt away from the off…[Read more]

Plus move guys around in different formations. Short crossing routes to keep Lbs from blitzing every play. Seems the defense is confusing us and we should be confusing them.

I guess time will tell Lasso. The offense was not working for Wilson. Move Singer around and put him in motion to get open early. More quick passes and screens. Routes are taking too long to develop. Wilson is holding the ball way too long. He looks just like Zach with the Jets.

Unless we make some changes on offense BYU will have no problem…[Read more]

  • Top four seeds are P4 conference champions. No way Boise can be a top 4 ahead of Big12 champ or any other P4 champ.

We had plenty of reasons for optimism. Two time Rose bowl QB and plenty of weapons. A young but talented O line. Only question on offense was RB. Bernard is the offensive MVP. Defense front seven returning and talented but unproven secondary.

I had the gut feeling and drank the koolaide. I never bought in to the cake walk through the Big 12. All…[Read more]

Backer we haven’t played a complete game yet. Maybe we get on track tonight. Certainly can’t say back on track.

  • Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Winning teams make plays in the forum Football 1 month ago

Yes Champ since Covey has been gone kickoff and punt returns have been non existent. We haven’t had that ball hawk safety for a few years picking off passes. Blitzing the QB and getting strip sacks or deflections.

The exact thing BYU is doing to be 6-0. Defense is solid then gives up a big play. Offense has been predictable and conservative w…[Read more]

Getting Reid back on defense (per coach Mac) giving up 200 + rushing against ASU and big plays vs AU. Defense comes to play tonight. We should move the ball on offense TCU defense is not great. We need a big win 2-3 score victory. Go Utes!!

  • Mac just said Reid was playing. Not sure about OToole

  • Jim Vanderhoof replied to the topic Ludwig in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago

It’s amazing how good Ludwig becomes when he has a good QB. Rising and Huntley offenses scored points and moved the ball consistently. Without Rising and Huntley offenses have no identity and become stagnate.

  • Who doesn’t? Sanders is an anomaly. Gale Sayers was equally gifted. I was a Packer fan and still rooted for Sayers because he was so fun to watch. In the 80’s I went to a card show and Sayers was signing autographs. He finished and was waiting for his ride to the airport. I was just standing there and he came up and started asking about sports car…[Read more]
