PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic New Poll: How do you feel about the Utes going to the Big 12? in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
I’m relieved we landed on our feet, but I’m sad that we’d been forced to accept my least favorite option.
Obviously “join the BigTen” would be my 1st choice, and “save the Pac-12” would be my second. If Colorado and Arizona hadn’t panicked and jumped the gun, my 3rd choice — “realign with the ACC” — would have still been an option. Landing in…[Read more]

If Colorado and Arizona hadn’t jumped the gun, we could have found a home in the ACC. I would have SO much more preferred THAT league to the Big 12, if it came with the 4 corners and NorCal schools. Now we’ll have to sleep in the bed that we’d made.

Right? I commented on that on the DNDNewsews the other day.
Attn: Zoob nation:
The Big 12 did NOT throw the Utes a lifeline!
Zoob nation continues to assert that they’ll be joining the Big XII as its biggest brand, and that the tdS had added immense value to the the Big XII’s media contract.
And yet it took ybU-p 30-yrs of primping,…

PhiladelphiaUte replied to the topic well, the reaction of TSPP fans has been better than I could have hoped in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
The tdS will be making less than us in 2023 and 2024, because they’ll only be a “partial revenue sharing” team until 2025. Utah on the other hand will be receiving full conference revenue shares the entire time.

The tdS will only be receiving a 50% share of Big 12 revenues in 2023, 75% in 2024, and a full share in 2025.
Conversely, Utah will be receiving a full share of Pac-12 revenues in 2023, and full shares of Big 12 revenues in 2024 — right from the start.

We should! They’re the reason 2023 will be the Pac-12’s swan song. We need to beat the Trojans above all others. We need to run up the score on their Home field, and utterly humiliate them on national TV.

Per Rivals, our 2023 class saw eight 4-star kids, plus four additional ones from the transfer portal.
Of the aforementioned 8 signees, 3 were from UT (Pac-12 country), 2 were from CA (Pac-12 county), and 1 each from AZ (Pac-12 country), TX (Big 12 country), and KS (Big 12 country). That’s 75% from Pac-12 country, and 25% from Big 12 country. So…[Read more]

I’ve been traveling a lot lately, so my timeline may be a bit off. I flew to Mexico City the morning of the last Thursday of July. When I’d left, CU was in the Pac-12. When I’d landed, they had already officially accepted the Big 12’s invitation. I’d arrived in Houston Wednesday night while Arizona was committed to the Pac-12. But by…[Read more]

In my opinion, the blame for the demise of the Pac-12 falls on (in order)…
1. USC. After Texas & Oklahoma announced their intentions to defect to the SEC, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor, and Oklahoma St immediately applied to join the Pac-12. Pac-12 schools were initially open to discussing the idea, but USC immediately vetoed it, killing it on the…[Read more]

I believe the ybU game should remain in September, and the Colorado game in November.
Per Rivals, Radcliff is a 4-star RB from CA, so not all our 4-star guys are from Big 12 country.
Utah’s strongest recruiting appeal isn’t the “Pac-12”. It’s the “coaching staff” of Whittingham, Ludwig, Scalley, and our ability to get guys into the NFL. The…[Read more]

…after beating Queen’s University in Charlotte, NC this morning, 18-6. This is our 2nd consecutive season wherein we’d swept all conference opponents.
Having already locked up the #1 seed, Utah will travel to Moon Township, PA for the conference tournament. This year’s tournament is different than last year’s, as last year only took the Top-4…[Read more] -

…for the first time this season, and neither of our final two opponents have much hope of defeating us. We’ll still have to win the conference tournament if we have any hopes of finishing ranked — and that means a likely rematch vs. #16 Jacksonville in the title game.

…in next month’s conference tournament, with a 22-12 rout at Home, vs the Mercer Bears.
The conference tournament will only include the top four teams in our ten team league. At 7-0 in league play, Utah holds a firm grasp on the #1 seed. 14th-ranked Jacksonville, at 6-1, is #2, and would need Utah to lose twice to overtake us, as we’d…[Read more] -

…26-10!
RMU was the only conference team to have beaten us last year, and even that win put them 1-1 against us for the year (we’d won another 10-pt decision against them in SLC during the regular season matchup, and they’d gotten their revenge, in OT, in the conference championship game), so I’d expected a more challenging game against them, as…[Read more] -

This is our biggest win of the season. The win over the 8-2 Dolphins is our first win over a ranked opponent this season, and, moves Utah in to sole possession of 1st-place in the conference.
The schedule gets easier from here on out, but our next opponent — Robert Morris Univ — was the only conference opponent who’d beaten us last season.…[Read more] -

I can’t really report much on this game, as I was at work during the entirety of it, but I can at least give you all the heads up on the Utes scoring another big win.
Due to some weird glitch in the scheduling, this was our 3rd consecutive roadie at AFA, so I’m glad we not only beat them, but rather trounced them in the game. It’s about time…[Read more] -

…this afternoon in Detroit. It was our first “road” win of the season for us.
Utah follows up this roadie with a midweek match vs. a significantly tougher opponent in Air Force (5-3). Air Force beat #17 Denver 12-10 just one week after Utah had lost to them 4-12. So hopefully, we’ll be better prepared.
