We’ve never been a team that will get a lot of 4 star guys and we’ve never gotten a five star guy. Our recruiting has really only ramped up the last few years including a couple of seasons ago being in the top 25 for the only time in program history. I can see us losing battles because of NIL and maybe losing out on opportunities sure but the type of players Utah recruits I think will continue to be readily available. Now more than ever, programs like Utah need to recruit guys that will commit to the system and use NIL to keep their proven commodities around. I don’t know, I don’t think NIL changes the type of high school athlete Utah recruits as a program. However, the transfer rules and NIL can impact us more. That’s more of a concern for me is if we have a very talented freshman or sophomore that proved their worth and then they ditch us for one of those top tier schools because we can’t offer what they can.

Without looking, I’m sure they are a lot higher in turnover margin than we are. They have been very opportunistic in a few games and have had great field position and multiple special teams and defensive touchdowns.
Their offense has been trending up recently and ours has trended down the last few games. Hopefully that changes tomorrow but I guess we will find out

Ohio State at Penn State, Alabama at LSU, Army Navy are all games I would agree with but the one I would choose this year is Texas at Texas A&M. They haven’t played in such a long time and as of right now, the game could decide whose going to the SEC championship. That might be the atmosphere of the year with how much those schools don’t like each other.

This game is a breaking point in the year. The team hasn’t looked as good as they were supposed to be and it just feels like a loss would suck out all momentum towards anything special happening this year. A win can help right the ship and get some positive momentum heading into what I agree as two very winnable games. So yes this game is huge in my opinion. Every game is big but good teams tend to respond in a big way after a loss, I guess we will see the character of this squad on Friday

It’s been awesome! Might find ourselves possibly moving up a spot or two with the Michigan and USC losses and that being their second loss.

I don’t know how you can put Bama in over Texas when Texas beat them soundly on their home field. If Bama ends up winning this game and Florida state wins tonight, I think there’s a very real possibility the SEC could get left out

With all the ranked matchups next week in cominvation with all the upsets today, a solid win could really boost us up right back into the playoff conversations

I agree. Our Oklahoma state win isn’t looking great anymore. I’m sure some teams will pass us that are below us like A&M. I just hope we’re ready for ASU. 4-1 team that can beat us if the offense doesn’t get going. However, could be a good bounce back win to get some positive momentum going. I’m sure Tempe will be rocking next Friday

I think an 8-4 season would be quite the accomplishment considering everything that has happened to this team this year with the injuries and how tough the PAC 12 has ended up being. What would be crazy is if we do end up 9-3, we actually will end up having the same regular season record as the 2 previous teams. Obviously not playing for the PAC 12 championship will feel disappointing but if we can manage 9-3, I’d make an argument that this is one of Whitt’s best coaching years in terms of just finding ways to win with a depleted roster, especially a depleted offense.
Still lots of ball to be played and unfortunately there isn’t a gimme left on the schedule since ASU has been playing better, Arizona is looking like a top 25 team all of sudden and colorado can put up points if your not careful. Washington is a very good team, beatable for sure but I doubt they will overlook us.

That Arizona game definitely is going to be a sneaky tough matchup. I think we should be favored in 3/4 games but it ultimately is going to depend how the offense does. I think the Vaki surprise is wearing off now that there’s game film on it. I think 9-3 would be great considering how this season has gone with all the injuries but my gut is telling me 8-4 at the moment. However, we won’t play a team nearly as good as this Oregon team the rest of the way (I do think Oregon would/will beat Washington if they played again)
