  • In that scenario it would be Oregon. Because Washington and Oregon never played USC, the first tiebreaker would be skipped. The second tie-breaker (performance against common teams) would knock out ULCA (given that they played and lost to Arizona whereas everyone else beat them)

So it would come down to strength of conference schedule… which…[Read more]

So you think there’s fully 9 offensive skill position players that we should be using more?

It’s simple enough to wish guys we’re getting more opportunities, the hard part is deciding who you’re going to take opportunities away from to get those guys more. More Enis and Dixon and McClain means less Vele and Money Parks and Kincaid (and Kuithe…[Read more]

I’m eastern time zone. These 10:30 Eastern start times are killer. Means the game doesn’t end until 2 in the morning…

Feeling a little justified now despite the many downvotes.

Like I said, 15 is a fine spot to be. Nobody would be too upset about it if we’d dropped to 18 last week and then gone up to 15 this week. And it’s still high enough that we’re largely in control of our own destiny. Just have to prove it on the field.

Not seeing the “softness” tbh. Not saying it necessarily isn’t there, but we’re two games in and one is FCS and can’t tell us much.

And against Florida, our issue (from what I saw) wasn’t being soft so much as not being disciplined and containing. If anything we were overaggressive. Which is a problem for sure, but not indicative of being soft.…[Read more]

    He’s a 3* by composite, a 4* in the rankings from 247 specifically.

I tend to just go by the composite, otherwise you end up picking and choosing and calling lots of people 4*s

Hard to read too much into Bumphis yet. He might not have immediately turned just-a-guy WR into studs, but the real question is if he can get the higher end types onto the team.

Which is… tough to assess. He’s been here for just over a year which means half of the 2022 recruiting cycle and the 2023 cycle.

WR recruits in that time are
    Ryan…[Read more]

  • By “we have to stop ALMOST winning” I mean that we need to do that, not that it’s a statistical inevitability that we will

  • Realistically, you’re right that it’s probably not as bad as it feels right now. But the truth is that Utah is so close to taking that next step as a program. And we’re at the point now where moral victories and impressive showings are good, but not enough.

Punch it in there at the end and it’s a whole different story. I know it’s barely a…[Read more]

  • krindor replied to the topic Moss scored twice in the forum Football 2 years, 1 month ago

I mean, a big reason for the low average was the two 1 yard TD plunges.

By standard measures (45+% of yards required on 1st down, 60% on 2nd, 100% on 3rd/4th), Moss had a 100% success rate. He was also the 2nd RB in, the short yardage back and converted every time near the goal-line (also has a 3 yard TD called back).

He may not be the…[Read more]

Regarding the presence in Mountain Time, he stated that they have presence in all 4 time zones, not that they will have it. That could be referring to the 30k in western Nebraska who are already in the mountain time zone. Or it could be referring to Utah/Colorado.

And being one of the haves could mean B1G. But it could also mean Big 12 or PAC.…[Read more]

  • 6/6, though I’m quite pleased to see the first listed on defense though. Really think a lot depends on him making a leap.

  • Do people in Houston get really into the University of Houston? No, they’re the 2nd or 3rd most popular team in their city behind UT-Austin and sometimes Texas A&M.

Does Texas Tech extend interest much beyond Lubbock? Not really, I live an hour north and they’re the 2nd or 3rd most popular team there, again behind UT-Austin and sometimes…[Read more]

  • krindor replied to the topic Utah has 2 options in the forum Football 2 years, 2 months ago

The hard part may be that Option 2 could happen slowly, in pieces. Big 12 TV contract expires the year after PAC12, so it might be an agreement that they’ll come a year after USC/UCLA leave. Which means there’s a chance that this all ends (for now) with a PAC10 anchored by Oregon and Washington and a Big12 with 4 newcomers as planned and nothing…[Read more]

  • Possibly, but a few issues that make this tough

    1) if Oregon and Washington leave, the remaining PAC8 aren’t in a position to poach from even the new Big 12

    2) if Oregon and Washington haven’t yet left, but are openly considering it, then teams are going to be hesitant to join a conference in flux.

The key is first playing defense on those two…[Read more]

  • Utah’s a ball-control, power run offense and will stay that way. Our WR aren’t a huge part of the success. And that works as long as we’re not looking for success at the highest levels.

But if we want to succeed at a higher level, then we have to be able to be effective in every aspect of the game, not just our preferred power run game.…[Read more]

  • Lloyd obviously.

Ford I think also goes – his versatility will be appealing

Sewell and Covey just don’t have the physical traits teams want so they’re 7th rounders/PFA.

Bam has size/power but lacks technique and is older. I’d put him right on the line as well.

That’s really the story though. Pledger and Tafua are also guys that could be…[Read more]

  • I took Book of Mormon at BYU-Provo Campus and at the U institute – I liked the institute version better. Why? Because it wasn’t for a grade we could focus on learning the things that matter. At the Y, it was just about memorizing dates. Bottom line: Institute classes are more edifying than their counterparts at the BYU schools.

    I’ll par…[Read more]
