Unfortunately, I think that’s ESPN catering to your listed interests – they tend to modify the front page and photos a fair amount depending on those things. If you use an incognito window, it won’t be him.
That said I’ve seen him as high as 7, lowest I’ve seen is 21. Realistically, he’s going in the teens. I’m a Chargers fan and would love to…[Read more]

krindor replied to the topic Saw this on another site and decided to take a crack at Utah's best NFL team in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
Dealing with a 53 man roster and those constraints here’s what I come up with
QB (3): Alex Smith, Scott Mitchell, Tyler Huntley
Notes: Could also include Grosscup over Huntley or only roster 2 QBs if preferredRB (4): Jamal Anderson, Mike Anderson, Devontae Booker, Zach Moss
Notes: Booker and Moss serve as pass-catching options. Charlie Smith…[Read more] -

I did something similar and have a few suggestions…
1. Every team plays 3 WR sets these days. Make another spot for that with starting WR as Smith/Jefferson/Gordon. Same story at CB. The nickelback is a de facto starter.
2. Going by career AV undersells current players and players that were better in shorter periods. Jaylon Johnson…[Read more]

Graham Harrell, his OC at USC went to West Virginia, so that makes sense.
Ole Miss has Lane Kiffin and huge offensive numbers and they’re losing their QB to the NFL (probably in the first round) and don’t have a clear guy to take over

krindor replied to the topic Over-reyling on analytics? (not going for 2) in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
This is an interesting case where the analytics say to do something specifically because most coaches don’t follow the analytics.
Let’s lay aside all the external factors (QB injury, Ohio State talent level) and take a simplified look at the analytics.
If you go for 1, there’s a (for simplicity) near 100% chance you make it to tie the…[Read more]

krindor replied to the topic Injured players whose draft stock fell, and made teams regret passing on them? in the forum Football 2 years, 11 months ago
The classic example is Jaylon Smith, Notre Dame linebacker.
Basically was seen the way Devin Lloyd is, as a mid first rounder. Got a unanimous first round grade from draft advisory board and then tore his ACL and LCL in the bowl game. Went in the second round and has had decent success but is probably still more known for his injury than for…[Read more]

Honestly, I can’t take too much offense at this
Yeah, a team that hoped to make the College Football Playoff (and was in line to do so until their last game) is disappointed about playing Utah in the Rose Bowl. I get that.
The most negative thing is saying that people don’t care about Utah. Which is harsh, but in comparison to the Ohio…[Read more]

So, as the recruiting period winds down, anyone we should be watching?
Just looking at the list of offers we have on 247, I see a few where we’re listed as warm.
Zahquan Frazier – JUCO transfer CB from Kansas (HS in Georgia), 87.3 composite, #10 JUCO rank. Warm schools are listed as us, Kentucky, UT-San Antonio and Miss St. Crystal ball for…[Read more] -

Utah could absolutely turn into a blue blood nationally. After all Oregon wasn’t…until they were. Same with Miami and a bunch of others. But the reality is that it takes a decade plus of winning at the very very highest levels to be a blue blood, so it’s not happening anytime soon.
In the last 16 years pre-COVID Wisconsin finished ranked 13…[Read more]

These guys seem to have fairly solid offer lists? Maybe you’re missing some of the bigger names because you have to click for the full offer list.
Wade Woodaz has offers from Air Force and Austin Peay, yes, but also from Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami, Wazzu, TCU, West Virginia and others
Elijah Reed has offers from Kentucky, West Virginia,…[Read more] -
krindor replied to the topic Could Ryan Smith become BYU's "Uncle Phil"? in the forum They So Poo Poo 3 years ago
Here’s the thing we don’t give enough attention to. There’s a MASSIVE difference between Ryan Smith and Phil Knight.
They’re both billionaires. But Ryan Smith is somewhere between $1.5B-$3B in net worth. And a lot of that is tied up in the Jazz. Phil Knight is around $65B in net worth. Phil Knight also has the keys at Nike and ins there that…[Read more]

krindor replied to the topic Massey college football composite ratings in the forum Football 3 years ago
I do think there’s some value in having teams be consistently good. If the PAC12 has two top 10 teams every year, but it’s on a rotating basis over a 6 year cycle, that doesn’t get the same respect as Oregon and USC (or Utah) being a perennial top 10 team.
USC has the easiest path to that, but it doesn’t have to be them, agreed

krindor replied to the topic Ducks or WSU in the forum Football 3 years ago
Have to root for Oregon. Gives us a better higher-profile opponent and also makes the conference look better.
The ACC has been weak for years, but nobody notices because Clemson has been so dominant. If we want the PAC12 getting more respect, it doesn’t happen by parity, it happens by a few teams standing out as top quality on a national level.…[Read more]

As a current member of the Armed Forces (active duty Air Force), I appreciate the support, but am also fully supportive if someone wants to thumbs down a post that they disagree with them. Based on context, I think he meant that Oregon is now reaching a state (like Utah) where they could basically still back into it, even if they collapsed down the stretch. Not that either team will do so, but that they could at this point.

Also, what BYU is doing for walk-ons, while great, shouldn’t be considered the same as a scholarship.
Leaving aside the ego/recognition issues already addressed, a walk-on at BYU now has their tuition paid for and has to go to a couple events a semester in exchange for that (in addition to all the football practice stuff).
A scholarship player…[Read more]
