Latest I’ve heard is that Utah and BYU probably feel slightly better than USC and Oregon, but that they’re all really close.
Utah is as likely as anyone to get him, but overall odds are still tough
Call it 25% Utah, 25% BYU, 20% Oregon, 20% USC, 10% UCLA/Other. No inside info, just based on what I’ve heard/read

krindor replied to the topic Losing hope for Jerome Myles in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
The noise has been that he was always planning to wait to commit. But he went to Ole Miss and they gave him the “but wait, there’s more! If you commit today you get an extra NIL deal” with the implication that NIL deal wouldn’t be available/promised later.
So he did the smart thing and tentatively committed there right then – knowing that if he…[Read more]

I’d say the odds are about the same as they’ve always been. He likes Utah, but he wants to see Utah make use of WR and there’s LOTS of other options. He’s one of the best players out there (in general, but especially among uncommitted recruits).
He’s going to get offers and attention … but if we want to get top recruits, we have to be…[Read more]

krindor replied to the topic 3* DT Semi Taulanga from Meter Dei committed to Utah in the forum Football 4 months, 3 weeks ago
He’s lower rated than most of our recruits…but I do like him. Very much a guy who has had high level performance against great competition, but is getting mostly dinged for his height.
Makes him a high variance player. If his height is enough of an issue, he won’t be playable. If it continues to not be an issue, then he could be a stud. Would…[Read more]

Reports have also said that the Big 12 would have to go to unequal revenue sharing to give FSU and Clemson a higher share

He’s a lot like Keita. Very high energy, very athletic, not yet as skilled. Oregon brought in a few centers in the transfer portal so he wasn’t going to get the chance to play there – almost certain to redshirt.
He’ll get minutes at Utah though, which is probably why he switched commitments. I’d imagine (like Keita) he’ll be an energy guy in…[Read more]

krindor replied to the topic Utah Utes Football Future Mock Coaching Staff in the forum Football 5 months, 2 weeks ago
Probably mostly continuity (Whitted, Powell, Elliss) or guys I’ve not yet heard of, guys who are position coaches at G5 or FCS schools or interns/analysts somewhere.
For example the WR coach would likely be Whitted still. But a dream scenario would be to get Keenan Bailey. He’s only a few years removed from being an intern and is an offensive…[Read more]

I would be shocked and dismayed if this was the coaching staff. These are great players, but hiring great players doesn’t always make great coaches
Let’s say this happens in 2 years. Here’s where those coaches are now and where they’d have to come from
Eminently realistic
- HC Morgan Scalley – already arranged
- DC Sharief Shah – not a given, but…

krindor replied to the topic How is Oklahoma State not picked first? in the forum Football 5 months, 3 weeks ago
They have a real argument… But it’s also hard to win with a QB who is #13/16 in the conference.
I think that’s the biggest issue. Utah is very good everywhere, Oklahoma St is elite in a few places, but mediocre to subpar elsewhere

krindor replied to the topic 2025 Recruiting Class in the forum Football 5 months, 3 weeks ago
As of right now (and with the extremely important caveat that it’s still early, meaning both that we can get new commits and that existing commits can have their ratings change)…
… our recruiting class doesn’t appear to be as strong as past years or as our Big 12 competition.
There’s obviously exceptions in recruit ratings, but as a general…[Read more] -

And BYU looking OK vs Oklahoma and Oklahoma State was a lot more of BYU, one win away from a bowl game, fighting for their lives vs two Oklahoma teams who already had their postseason fates determined and were 100% looking past BYU.
That’s just not true. Oklahoma was 5-2 in conference when they played BYU, well in the mix for the conference…[Read more]

Not at this point. Lots of the better recruits commit later. And there’s a lot of difference between a high 3 star and a low 3 star. More than. There is between a high 3 star and a low 4 star. I’d like to see just about everyone at 87+ (which this guy is)

I generally do a preseason analysis of which Utah, BYU, Utah St, Southern Utah etc players are on NFL bubbles or likely to make rosters.
In doing research for that and looking at Covey, I came across this excellent article on why Covey is the best punt returner in the NFL
If you don’t care to read it, here’s the summary
- Britain Covey has an…

BYU only had one game last year on ESPN+. Pretty much nobody had more than 3. I would guess we end up with one or maybe two, but it won’t be a regular thing

They have the right idea to not just do average – but agree they put too much weight on class size.
Here’s the argument against pure average.
Team A signs 4 recruits; two 92s, a 91, and an 88
Team B signs 3 recruits; all of them are 91sIf we look just at the top 3 recruits from both schools, A has a 91.7 average and B a 91 average. But…[Read more]

Ok, looking at it, here’s the conference breakdown, so not as bad as I thought (though the Big 12 teams are generally – with exception of Utah – towards the back
- SEC: 10 teams (including 8 in the top 25)
- B1G: 7 teams (including 6 in the top 25)
- ACC: 8.5 teams (half credit for Notre Dame) (including 5.5 in the top 25)
- Big 12: 7 teams…

krindor replied to the topic Phil Steele Top 40 in the forum Football 6 months ago
Is 7 of the top 40 somehow impressive? Honestly asking. There’s 4 major conferences and a bunch of smaller/weaker conferences. So I’d expect a good number to be 10 or maybe 8 as an average number (accounting for the weaker conferences taking some)
