My main criticism was the following situation:
Utes down 10 points with 9 minutes on the clock. On first, second, and third down, the clock is running, and the Utes use up the ENTIRE play clock. Why are we not snapping the ball with 20 seconds on the clock? Are we so afraid of their offense that we are going to try to run a 7 minute drive and…[Read more] -

Rick, I don’t know what you are smoking but Larry’s teams haven’t been a win or two away from the tournament since 2018. Since then:
2019 17-14
2020 16-15
2021 12-15Even if Lohner added a few wins, none of those teams were going to sniff the Dance.

I have a couple of thoughts on this.
1. When playing a bad team, you shouldn’t be in a position to lose because of 2 turnovers.
2. UW scored on their last 4 possessions.
3. This result would be acceptable if it wasn’t the exact same script, time after time after time after time. This result is what Larry has prepared this team – nay, this…[Read more] -

Let’s examine Larry’s shortcomings:
1. He loses players – consistently.
2. His teams underachieve. Forget the performance vs. the media poll – that means nothing. Look at all the times he’s lost in the first round of the PAC 12 tourney, even when he had the higher seed. Additionally, the couple of his teams that made the dance (like a…[Read more] -

There is very little evidence of Coach knowing what he’s doing.
Here’s my view. He got to Utah and scored a few huge recruits early on. That lead him to think he could get blue-chip recruits, which, without criminally cheating like USC and Arizona, he was never going to get. Meanwhile, he can’t keep the players he does land, so he’s always…[Read more]

loyter replied to the topic K Claims The Core Should be Intact for Next Year. in the forum Basketball (Men) 4 years, 9 months ago
All blame leads back to Larry. Your argument is that you can’t blame them because they haven’t been together, but Larry is to blame for that because he can’t retain players. So he’s creating his own mediocrity.
Also, Larry’s teams, even with great players (Poeltl, Wright and Kuzma on the same team) have grossly underperformed. That team lost…[Read more]

Gach is a guard who can’t handle the ball or make decisions. He’s a poor man’s Bryant Markson.

Larry has no idea how to coach decent fundamentals. His teams just don’t play good basketball.

I think the lack of anyone complaining about this team says a lot about where we are as a fan base. Down 15, more turnovers than shots…
And nobody complains, which means, this is what our fanbase expects. -

I agree with your argument, except the Penn State part – they have two losses and that’s that.

This seems like an excellent reason for the SEC to fix this game. Would they? Absolutely yes, no doubt about it. We are talking about hundreds of millions of dollars here. People do much much worse things for much much less money.
Discuss.

The trouble with Oklahoma is that the committee can put them in and say, “see, we put in a team from the west.”

Nothing would make me happier than an Alabama loss. They have one of the most insufferable fan bases in the world. Their main argument for getting into the playoff is “We should get in because it says Alabama on our jerseys.”

Utes blow an 8 point lead in the final three minutes, and fail to get off a decent shot on their last 5 possessions. Typical Larry K finish.
The team is young and will learn, blah blah blah. But Larry failed to coach them to a single effective offensive or defensive possession in the final 3 minutes.
His system works pretty good during the…[Read more]
