Yeah. Things could be worse. We could be UCLA.

Matthew Thomas Castleton replied to the topic Utah opens +1.5 against Washington State. in the forum Football 6 years, 2 months ago
I think our offense struggled last week because Zack Moss wasn’t healthy, thus making Troy Taylor employ a very unsuccessful pass-happy offense to protect him from injury. Well, hopefully they have learned that they need to play to their strengths, and hopefully they improve dramatically. Also, I think WSU’s one-dimensional passing offense plays…[Read more]

And what an incredibly stupid thing for them to say. They know that we have PERMISSION from the Ute Tribe to use their symbols and name right? What a bunch of hypersensitive nincompoops!!

Matthew Thomas Castleton replied to the topic Not thrilled with last nights performance but N ILL is a gritty blue collar team in the forum Football 6 years, 2 months ago
That game and the situation Utah is in right now is eerily similar to 2008. If you all remember, the week before Utah famously beat TCU 13-10, they played at New Mexico and only won 13-10 in what was thought to be a game they should have “dominated.” Well, they didn’t, and yet they still came out the next week and beat a TCU team who finished…[Read more]

I totally agree. And I fully expect Northern Illinois to be 10-2 by the end of the season, which would mean that they would have wins at Florida State and at BYU. Will people still see this as a “bad” game, or, will it be seen as a great win?

This might be the best Utah defense since 2008.

Matthew Thomas Castleton replied to the topic Scheduling Disadvantage in the forum Football 6 years, 3 months ago
Yeah. I know. I was there. But in that particular loss, Utah lost their starting quarterback to injury (Jordan Wynn) and played the rest of the game with a back up (Jon Hays). Plus they beat us IN OVERTIME. And that Utah State team went on to finish 11-2 (6-0 WAC) while also finishing ranked #16 in the AP Poll and #17 in the Coaches’ Poll.…[Read more]

Also, to those who are complaining about BYU being the last game of the year this year, know that this is NOT going to be anything else but a one-time thing. It’s ONLY that way on our schedule because of a scheduling anomaly (or “quirk,” as Whittingham called it at Pac-12 Media Day). The Pac-12 scheduled our 1st conference game (vs. Washington) as…[Read more]

Matthew Thomas Castleton replied to the topic 7 – 5 in the forum Football 6 years, 3 months ago
I agree. However, with the talent Utah has on their team, plus them getting their most difficult games at home (sans Stanford), coupled with the rest of the division looking weaker than last year, I’m going to be bold. I’m picking Utah to go 11-1, with their sole loss coming at Stanford in a close game. This is going to be a special season for the…[Read more]

Matthew Thomas Castleton replied to the topic My early Football Win-Loss Prediction in the forum Football 6 years, 4 months ago
I think Utah goes either 10-2 or 11-1 if they stay healthy. They’re that talented. Hell, a bunch of their losses last year were in close games that they realistically could have won (USC, Stanford, Washington State, Washington). ALL of those were close losses, and wins there would have made their 6-6 season a 10-2 season. Utah’s going to be better…[Read more]

Not to mention Britain Covey being back from his mission. In 2015, he was arguarbly Utah’s best offensive player as a true freshman (sans Devontae Booker). The offense looks really talented and the defense looks downright scary. Not to mention that Utah will have the best special teams unit in College Football by far. How many teams in history…[Read more]

Matthew Thomas Castleton replied to the topic top 10 reasons why NIT is great for Utah in the forum Basketball (Men) 6 years, 8 months ago
Utah does have several talented returning players next season. All of Sedrick Barefield, Jayce Johnson, Parker Van Dyke, Donnie Tillman, Chris Seeley, and Kolby Caldwell are back. All of them were significant to partial contributors this season. Plus we have a stellar recruiting class coming in next year. We’re losing far less than Oregon did from…[Read more]

Well, Utah’s been a good road team this year. Nothing new for them. They did win @ Saint Mary’s, @ Washington, @ Washington State, @ Arizona State, @ Oregon, and @ Oregon State after all. If Utah didn’t know how to win on the road, they wouldn’t be in the NIT Championship Game anyway (because we had to win @ Saint Mary’s to get there to the lay…[Read more]
