Well, that has to do with intensity. Maybe because all those players didn’t play down the stretch eh?

Matthew Thomas Castleton replied to the topic 6 of 7 highest ranked recruits ever by Larry will be on the roster next year. in the forum Basketball (Men) 5 years, 7 months ago
Here is the question though. Who’s the starting line up next year? Timmy Allen is an obvious starter. I think Both Gach starts. Either of Donnie Tillman or Riley Battin will start. Jayce Johnson will probably start at the beginning of the season unless the 7’4″ Matt Van Komen takes his spot. The other question is who starts at point guard? Is it…[Read more]

Maybe you should criticize ASU and Washington too, because they ALSO lost to that same Oregon team in the conference tournament. Maybe you should criticize Wisconsin for losing to that Oregon team as well? They only made the NCAA Tournament after all. Maybe Utah lost to Oregon because… THEY’RE A DAMN GOOD TEAM. Nope. It must be because Utah is…[Read more]

They only lost to a team who made the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament.

Not just lost in their tournaments, but also weren’t chosen as at-large births in the NCAA Tournament (like Washington, Belmont, Nevada, etc.).

It’s because of their net ranking and their making of the conference semifinals

Matthew Thomas Castleton replied to the topic I am very disappointed in coach K in the forum Basketball (Men) 5 years, 8 months ago
Well, Oregon just won the Pac-12 Tournament (by 20 points over regular season champion Washington). Maybe you have unrealistic expectations and never considered the fact that OREGON IS REALLY GOOD. Maybe ASU and Washington should fire their coaches too because they also lost to Oregon. Give the guy a break for crying out loud.

Um, do you know why other conferences have their networks on DirecTV but not the Pac-12 (including the upcoming ACC Network)? It’s because those other networks all have a major sports network as their partial owner, giving them leverage over DirecTV in negotiations. The SEC Network and the upcoming ACC Network are both partially owned by ESPN. The…[Read more]

I agree. It wasn’t just defensive pressure. It was pressing on every play and using up all their energy. It clearly showed too because Oregon got destroyed in their next game against Colorado, obviously a byproduct of expelling all their energy pressing every position against Utah in their previous game.

Timmy Allen, Riley Battin, and Both Gach were all highly regarded recruits. As are the kids coming in next year.

Matthew Thomas Castleton replied to the topic What is the goal of Utah men's basketball? in the forum Basketball (Men) 5 years, 8 months ago
That depends upon the particular personnel the team has. And this year’s team is made up of a bunch inexperienced players, sans Parker Van Dyke and Sedrick Barefield. They struggled early in the season because of said youth and inexperience. Now, since they are more experienced, having played a full 30-game season, they’re better. They also had no…[Read more]

History says that those were different individual players with different individual lives. You have no clue what goes on with them or why they left the program. Also, you have no clue what any of the current players are going to do either, so to predict that they’re going to transfer is just asinine. It’s just as likely that they’re going to stay.

If Utah wins their final two games (against the LA schools in the Hunty), they will be the #3 seed in the Pac-12 Tournament. Washington is obviously the #1 seed, and ASU has clinched the #2 seed. One of Utah or UCLA can finished tied with ASU @ 11-7 if the Sun Devils lose @ Arizona, but neither of us can win a tiebreaker against ASU, meaning the…[Read more]
