Mitchell is put in for short yardage situations or other situations where it’s clear that we’re going to run. It’s not really fair to judge him on the same curve IMO.

Micah is balling out though…and I’m not surprised. He’s always shown a lot of talent IMO.

Nobody looks at all of their options and then chooses the best one. You have certain reads and certain timings/windows. As you’re making those reads, you have to be ready to pull the trigger if you think you can make the pass. Otherwise, that window closes. A good QB is going to be reading the defense even pre-snap to get an idea of which players may be open, and they may filter out certain players in certain coverages….but they’re not surveying every receiver before they make a decision. Not only do they likely not have time, but offenses aren’t set up like that.

QBs are the hardest position for highschool ratings to get right. Most ratings are based on physical attributes since those attributes alone can get you by at the high school level. At the college and pro level, however, QBs need to rely on their cerebral and decision making skills a lot more. Other positions are more predictable because they’re honestly less cerebral.

For high school recruits, since Ty, we only have:

Ricky Parks: COVID recruit. If you look through rankings, there were a lot of misses by absolutely everyone that year.

Jaylon Glover: Decent, but not elite.

All of the 2023 recruits: All 3 weren’t meant to come in and compete. The word from the beginning is that they all need to bulk up, and they weren’t expected to contribute until 2024.

I think it’s waaaaaaay too early to say that recruiting has been poor since Ty. You could argue that we should have picked up another 1-2 in Glover’s year, but I’m guessing we had other needs.

If we can actually sign Lamar Radcliffe (2024 commit), then I’ll feel pretty good about our room next year. He’s flown under the radar because he was injured his junior year. He’s a big, fast back, and he’s tearing it up this year.

I’m on the Discord, and I’ll tell you that it really was much ado about nothing. Occasionally, he’d post something there first that he’d share a day or two later on 247, but I never felt like the timing was intentional. And since that time when things got a bit heated on 247, he’s really towed the line with anything recruiting related. He’d even just link over to the 247 article or copy the text from 247.

The feel that he’s not sharing certain info has more to do with his relationship with the athletic department at the U, and their desire for him to hold back on sharing certain things. He does the same thing on the Discord.

Again, there was a bunch of angst over on 247, but it really wasn’t based on much IMO.

I remember reading a study about the record of away teams traveling more than 2 time zones, and it wasn’t good. Add in the short week, and that UCF game is the 2nd most concerning game by far IMO.

Yes. Scholarship at Utah, and PWO at Oklahoma.

I believe he has a younger brother being heavily recruited by Oklahoma as well…

That should open up the run game to that gap. We just didn’t run much in the 2nd half.

RB runs outside of the safety on JJ: 14 yards, 11 yards, 6 yards.

      That’s it.
