  • Was Colorado’s presence in the conference making everyone else money? Because if you get away from the histrionics, it looks like the worst program and one of the 3 or 4 worst fanbases in the conference dipped. If the Big 10 and SEC are measuring programs by how much they raise the bar, shouldn’t folks be measuring defectors by how much they who…[Read more]

The collapses generally look like this. As noted, ASU self-destructed when things looked good. Kind of what Tempe does.

Congratulations. Good win for you guys.

  • Spoilermakers. It takes brave men to look into the dead black eyes of Purdue Pete.

When ASU seems good and there’s a game coming up that might launch them into the sort of season ASU’s been waiting on for 25 years, it tends go poorly. Or if we win the game, we drop one to a bad team. There’s always an anticipation that something will go wrong.

Like if we win, we go into a by and have a home game against Wazzu. I’ll be…[Read more]

It’s all good. Talking a little shit here and there makes sense and, if you guys were under the NCAA lens I’d be rubbing it in a little too.

With both teams undefeated, it functionally means the winner would have to lose at least 2 more to blow it and the way the Pac 12 is, even 7-2 is probably safe since I imagine both teams will lose another…[Read more]

Daniels never committed to Utah as far as I know, and he was the highest ranked 4 star in the country so it’s not like anyone was sitting there thinking “Well if Whit wants him I guess we should go after him too”. You lost a recruiting battle. It happens. We were runner up on the #1 overall (Foreman) last year from what used to be the primary…[Read more]

We both screwed up against BYU. Watching them now, that loss is looking pretty embarrassing. ASU fumbled away a kickoff and what was looking like a pick 6 (or pick and big return) to blow a game against a team they were better than in typical ASU fashion.

Thompson was getting into the rotation but took an injury that kind of slowed him down for…[Read more]

I was on the message board to see how y’all were holding up and saw an opportunity to talk football. In hindsight, I probably should have something about how horrible the loss of another player was, but I thought a ‘hopes and prayers’ type message might come across as gauche or shallow, so I just talked about football. It wouldn’t be the first…[Read more]

I do think we have the best roster in the Pac 12 this year. I said I think we should win, and emphasized the “should”, before going on to say I expect disappointment because that’s kind of what ASU does in these situations.

I think you’re trying to manufacture disrespect where there isn’t any.

  • USC and Oregon have been nationally relevant (and USC has won a Natty) in the last 20 years, so they can talk all the shit they want. They’re still very clearly the big swingers.

Yes, you should have thick skin. It’s not supposed to be a forgiving atmosphere. Would it be great if every audience was a gentle, loud crowd that only roared out…[Read more]

  • Don’t take the hostility of an ASU/U of A game as the normal thing. There is a hatred there that, while I appreciate your rivalry with BYU, you simply won’t get. It’s as bad as Bama/Auburn, just on a smaller scale. It’s far and away the most vitriolic rivalry in the Pac 12.

  • This year? He’s not wrong. ASU fucked up against BYU. ASU has the best roster in the Pac 12. We should win every game. We won’t, but we should.

Because that’s what ASU does. We’re going to probably have arguably the best offense and defense in the conference and still figure out a way to go 9-3. Welcome to Tempe.

  • Let the hate flow through you.

    Great read.

The Pac 12 South is going to be an absolute war this year. Several teams have a lot to look forward to. Everyone has people back. UCLA and ASU’s depth charts are basically in tact, and ASU at times seemed like they might be the best team in the conference but choke-inclined.

  • This upcoming season’s ASU team is, at least on paper, probably the best roster they’ve fielded since Utah joined the conference. Probably the best since the Plummer/Tillman era.

A few areas of concern like WR, backup QB and the usual general offensive and defensive line depth that every team not named Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State have, but…[Read more]

  • Whitt is your Kush. Keep him until he’s done. ASU was forever changed when Kush was pushed out and really hasn’t recovered. When he’s tired, let him retire with a plan and place so he can Barry Alvarez it as AD.

Pretty optimistic. I like the starters anyway, though there will be depth concerns if the injury bug or COVID hits a group hard. As Central mentioned, I wrote a lot about it and instead of rehash:

Siaki Ika would be a huge get for us on many levels

    Just my own takes.
