Let’s add to this issue. Whittingham is a lame-duck coach. We all know who his replacement is and we know his contract is up in 2027 at the latest.
My question is how involved will he be in the OC hire? Anything less than letting Scalley do all of it will be a disadvantage to him. Also, if we hire someone, how much will Whittingham handicap the offense since he is the head coach?

You figure he would be the first to know that the kicker can’t hit from the right side. He says the same thing every week. He says he is going to watch the tape and re-evaluate for the next game.
So I have come down to my own personal evaluation after this trainwreck of a season. Either Whittingham is lying to us and does not watch the tape or he falls asleep while watching it. Kind of like an old person watching Matlock in their favorite chair at 5 pm.

I’m over Whittingham. I don’t care that he is the winningest coach in Utah football. He needs to go. He has lost how to coach and run a team. Not a single point in the second half.

I don’t have an issue with Wilson. He is a true freshman and he will make mistakes. Rose is the disappointment. Been in the program for the last few years and still gets beat out by a true freshman.
This means one of two things. Either Utah can’t judge QB talent or they don’t develop anybody (Rose, Johnson, Tuttle, and the list goes on).

I boo at the product. I spend my money getting Ute’s stuff, travel round trip 1,000 three times a year for home games, and watch and support religiously on TV and in person. I have even traveled for other games outside Utah. I feel I have a right to boo substandard play and coaching, especially when some players make more in NIL than I make in 5 years. Also, the head coach makes more in a year than I will my entire working life. The way I see it is they are employees of the university.
Spin it this way, if they we your employees and sucked at their job, would you fire them or at least let them know they are a hindrance?

Whittingham’s body language says it all. No fire or passion. He use to yell at everyone (refs, players, other coaches) for the smallest things. Now he just stands there with a blank look.
The last time I saw this attitude/look was the last year coach Larry Krystkowiak coached. Just there for a check and nothing else. The care and passion were just gone.
The problem with this is it can be contagious to everyone from coaches down to the players.

100% a great came with the Bobcats winning. I watched it from start to finish and I wish we had an offense like MSU.

The other issue is Whittingham is a soon-to-be, lame-duck coach. We all know he is going to be gone in the next year or two but will he be holding this team hostage on the way out the door?
I hope he has 0 say on the next OC. Anything less is a disservice to Scalley.

I think blaming Under Armour and/or turf is the easy way out. 94 of the 133 FBS schools play on field turf and many universities also have Under Armour contracts. Hell, some of the universities that have both Under Armour and field turf (the University of Maryland, University of Wisconsin, and University of Northwestern) don’t have the same issues as Utah. I am under the firm belief that it all lies with strength and conditioning.

I think booing is a way to talk/show dissatisfaction. I can’t walk up to the box and tell Ludwig he is doing a crapy job. I can’t go on the field and ask Whittingham why he kept playing an injured Cam during the Arizona State game. Plus, I would rather hear it in person than be stabbed in the back on these types of message boards. That’s my two cents.
