89ute started the topic 1st place Ute Baseball team takes on last place WSU. in the forum Other Ute Sports 8 years, 6 months ago
I really want to be a bigger baseball fan but by the time the weather is nice enough to take in a game, the season is over.
These next three games are at WSU and all are on the Pac-12 network.
Memorial Day weekend might be a good time to take in a game, hopefully it will be a showdown for a conference championship with 2nd place…[Read more]

89ute replied to the topic Chapman transferring to Weber? in the forum Basketball (Men) 8 years, 6 months ago
When you look at the giant physical changes Kuzma and Poeltl made in the offseason and contrast that with Chapman, who made NO physical changes, I can’t help to think he’s probably lazy. I was expecting Chapman to gain at least 15-20 pounds and he looked exactly the same as when he walked in as a high schooler. I’m willing to bet he avoided the…[Read more]

89ute started the topic Interesting article on Luke Staley, worth a read. in the forum Misc 8 years, 7 months ago
Paints BYU in a negative light, (which means it’s true.) In brief, the decision to play after numerous injuries was always Luke’s after all the “options” were laid out by the BYU doctor. Luke considered a suit against BYU but fizzled out:
Staley says he has expressed these views with several BYU officials. A few years ago Staley, through…

Krystkowiak says Runnin’ Utes are ‘chopping wood’
The following Saturday, Utah’s season came to an end with the loss to Gonzaga in Denver. It was the Utes’ fifth game in nine nights.

89ute started the topic Scrimmage April 16th in the forum Football 8 years, 7 months ago
The scrimmage was broken down into two parts. The 1st part is what I would call a regular scrimmage where the ball was placed on the 30 and the offense would go until they could not make a 1st down. This was pretty much how the 1st hour went. The second hour was situational. The scenarios were 3rd and two, just outside of the redzone at about…[Read more]

I agree with your thoughts on Christensen but in the end, it seems he could not play well with others as you alluded to. After watching KT play in the Fresno game I didn’t want to see him again and I was glad the QB merry-go-round ended. I have a very high opinion of Travis Wilson and his parents, but TW’s strength was not between his…[Read more]

89ute started the topic Practice Friday April 1st in the forum Football 8 years, 8 months ago
I only have a few minutes to get something down so here it goes. Saw Wishnowski punt for the 1st time. No worries here. Looked just like Hacket, in fact, picture Kyle Fitts punting with Hacketts results. 45 yards, backspin, same old same old. All the punts were caught so I could not see if they hit and stick. Phillips punted too. Very…[Read more]

Thanks. Didn’t focus much on the defense. It looked like Cody Barton and Sunia Tauteoli were the ones at LB. I don’t recall seeing 3 LBs on the field at the same time.
Brian Allen is a grown ass man! He looked like senior Pac-12 corner.

Another drill I saw today that I’ve never seen before. It’s a WR blocking drill, which I loved seeing. 3 WRs were split to the right side of the field with a defender on each WR. QB was at midfield, a slot type WR would run a backfield flare route and run through the 3 WRs trying to block the DBs. A fight broke out during this drill which…[Read more]

I’ve been observing spring practices regularly since Urban’s 1st year. This one was one of the more spirited ones I’ve seen, if not THE most. It started with the 1 on 1 drill where the team circles around two players who square off and push each other around. This one was one of the loudest, rowdiest I recall seeing.
Coach Shaw is a church…[Read more]
