Crazy how deep this team is at RB. No one is even mentioning TJ Green and no doubt he’s good enough to start and be really productive for a lot of teams.

Sweetness replied to the topic Someone please tell me this isn't true in the forum Football 5 years, 3 months ago
This, along with the info that Bam will likely miss the first couple weeks of camp really sucks. Team needs to be ready for week 1 and our two most inexperienced positions won’t have the two highly recruited transfers that were supposed to be plug and play. Fuggits.

Sweetness started the topic PAC 12 Champs + Offensive Lines in the forum Football 5 years, 3 months ago
My biggest concern for this team, along with probably pretty much everyone else, is the O-line. I’ve been trying to recall if I could remember an elite team at any level, that didn’t have an at least above average offensive line. I couldn’t think of any. Our best teams (’04, ’08, ’16), had some of our best o-lines. I didn’t think our line was…[Read more]

Sweetness replied to the topic Dont be surprised if Barefield gets run in the league in the forum Basketball (Men) 5 years, 4 months ago
Yeah, you don’t see a lot of 6’2” combo guards who are minus defenders, average athletes, and can’t consistently create off the dribble floating around in the league.
I think he can probably create a nice niche for himself in China or Europe though and still do very well for himself.

I hope the best for him, but I don’t plan on taking your advice. I will be very surprised, nay I will be shocked if he ever plays in an NBA game.
He barely got any run in summer league.

Sweetness started the topic BYU QB Commit in the forum Football 5 years, 5 months ago
So i stopped subscribing to 247 a while ago but from what the mods were saying a few months ago the kid that was a top Utah’s QB board just committed to BYU. That’s really frustrating. Why are we still losing commits to them? Why do we only have one commit so far?
Despite our winning it feels like we’re losing recruiting momentum the last coupl…[Read more] -
Sweetness replied to the topic Tillman is now in the transfer portal in the forum Basketball (Men) 5 years, 5 months ago
Maybe I misunderstood, but everything that was reported just said he was taking a leave of absence from the program for a year to go be with his mom. Otherwise why wouldn’t it have just been reported he was transferring?
I doubted he would return, but thought the door was still open. I guess we’ll see where he ends up.
I don’t mean any ill will…[Read more] -

Thanks for the write-up! Overall I was nodding my head in agreement with everything in your article, sans the jaylon Johnson take, but you’ve explained yourself and the fact that you are basing your opinion on the film you see is a perfectly good reason for your opinion. I actually really appreciate that and it’s a huge step up from the lazy jou…[Read more]

26 pts 10 reb 14 ast. Good for him. Securing himself as a guy who should be a very high level 6th man/fringe starter for the next several years.

Cry me a river. Jazz players may think it’s weird, but do you think that’s going to have any actual effect on how they feel about playing in Utah? Down the stretch and in the playoffs the smart house is going to be insane as always, and no one’s going to hardly remember, let alone care about what happened last night. The reason Jimmer was on Dan…[Read more]

Hot take warning:
I wholeheartedly agree here. It was a little over the top, but it was a 30 point blowout. At that point, what else were the fans going to cheer about?!
I usually can’t stomach watching any BYU sports, but when Jimmer played it was appointment television for me. He’s one of the few BYU athletes I’ve ever liked watching and kind…[Read more]

Sweetness replied to the topic Coach K killed it this season in the forum Basketball (Men) 5 years, 8 months ago
I don’t know how you can say in college a coach kills it when they don’t even make the NIT.
If it was the NBA where you had a separate GM/front office that was responsible for bringing in the talent, then yeah I think you can look at a coach who seemingly overachieves and applaud them for it. In college when they are responsible for both tal…[Read more]

Yeah, Jordan Costello set the course record there yesterday. Too bad he was only competing as an individual and his score didn’t count for the team…otherwise they would have would have lapped the field.

Golf team picked up a really solid win today at Bandon Dunes. Beat out a few pac12 schools (Oregon, Oregon St., and Washington state), along with a few other nationally ranked and solid programs. Probably best result they’ve had in the pac12 era. Should be in a good spot to go to regionals (i.e. 1st round of NCAA tournament), which to my knowledge…[Read more]

All about the O-Line for me. If the O-Line ends up being above average we definitely can be a top 10 squad…especially with the way the schedule is setup this year. Hope some of the young fellas in the o-line group realize that and grind like hell this spring/summer/fall!

I could personally care less how much he makes, but he’s in a result oriented business and is paid like he is at the top. His results don’t match his compensation and dollar for dollar we ought to be able to get better.
Here are the coaches that make more than Larry.
Coach K

Ohio state coach

So, this is the exact thought process I am trying to argue people should avoid. A lot of people look at this team and think they were under talented, picked to finish 8th, yet finished third and overachieved, therefore coach did a great job.
I look at this year and think, Larry in his 7th/8th? year, we’re missing the tournament for the third s…[Read more] -

The issues and problems the team has is that talented players continue to transfer out of the program and the talent coming in is performing at a very average level.
We’re three years removed from making the NCAA tournament and we’re going to have to see some pretty large overachieving to make it next year. A lineup of Tillman, Timmy Allen, Gac…[Read more]

No argument there. Coach K gets his team to play, and it feels like each year they improve as the year goes on, but you have to look at everything in context. They improved from a team that looked like it was 150+ to a team that finished 108th…not the range you want to be in. If the pac12 was it’s usual 4-5 bid league quality this year, t…[Read more]
