Not even a question…1976.  We were getting destroyed by BYU on a cold November day.  I believe Marc Wilson was throwing nearly every play and the Utes were putting up little resistance.  We lost by about 30.

Very few fans were in the stands.  My girlfriend and I were up high in the stands under a big red blanket trying to stay warm.  Forty-three years later I still have fond memories.  That was my best Utah football experience.

While the focus is on football, this will have an effect on all sports.  How much more could a top gymnast make at Utah vs. UCLA or Florida?  More? Less? I don’t know.

Top skiers?  I would think Utah skiers would make more than they would at Vermont or Montana.

I’m not certain this is a bad thing for Utah football.  Is most markets with NFL and/or NBA teams, the professional athletes will get the endorsement dollars not the college kids.  In Phoenix, Larry Fitzgerald will get the endorsements, not NKeal Harry.  In SLC, that football endorsement money (while much smaller) would go to the likes of Moss, Covey, Love or Wilson.  Since most of the PAC schools are in “professional” markets, I think SLC is the largest market in the conference without a professional football team.

If this is the beginning, the big winners will be the SEC, Notre Dame, the ACC and the Big 12.  Losers will be everyone else.

Shelly is a redshirt freshman with 2 1/4 games under his belt.  Although he hasn’t played like a freshman, getting an additional 3 or 4 quarters experience is valuable.

Whitt is right, you have a stable full of thoroughbreds, let them run.  They put in too much time in the weight room and in practice to shut them down for one of their 6 home games.

Have to disagree.  The narrative is always the same.

1-Blame a BYU player.  I’m not sure who will be their whipping boy since Mangum isn’t starting.  Is it too soon to attack Wilson?  Not in Zooblandia.

2-Attack either Grimes or Sitake.  Number of torches and pitchforks is dependent on the circumstances of the loss.

3-Refs suck.  However, if they are Pac 12 refs they just may have something.

4-“We lost the game but the Utah fans are despicable and boorish and we hold the moral high ground”.

Let the excuses begin in 132 hours.

Offensive line play.  My pick for surprise player of the year is Ford. That line just wears defenses out.

His reaction is priceless.  He stands up without celebration and walks back to midfield.  Thats a bad man.

Stanford returns 16 starters from a team that went 10-3 last year.  They also are consistently among rhe top recruiting schools in the league.  I think Stanford I’d very underrated.  Thr

Larry K has done a good job developing talent.  Washburn, Rawson and Poeltl come to mind.  However, there have also been a few that haven’t seen significant improvement…Jokl.

i think Van Komon will see some real improvement with Larrys coaching.  He has good timing, his hands are much improved, his effort is there and he still has a year of high school ball.

He reminds me a bit of Foster.  Foster didn’t look the most athletic, but the team was much better with him on the court than when he was hurt.
