Me. My family is sick with COVID as of about Tuesday and are assuming it was from the Rose bowl. We kind of figured it would happen.

If anybody else is sick and wants to know if it’s COVID I would highly suggest a PCR test. Rapid tests were negative for us but PCR positive. I’ve heard that’s happening a lot especially with those that are vaccinated.

Yeah, I used to think like this too until I had kids.

I stuck it out today until the end, but even when the kids don’t come to the game I have to get a babysitter for like six hours. Don’t really like taking advantage of parents or whoever is watching the kids by staying for the pointless end of an already decided game.

Then there was the time a fan in the row behind us was yelling “game isn’t over” the time we had to leave when my wife was feeling too sick to stay to the end of a game that was already in hand. Ended up in the ER that night. Luckily it wasn’t serious, but still….. that fan was a jackass.

So yeah, I don’t blame anybody for leaving early even though I almost always stick it out until the end.

Mine will always be the Rice Bowl, 57-28 in 1988.  Scott Mitchell and Eddie Johnson were my heroes.  I had never seen Utah beat BYU in my life.  There were like two Utah fans in my entire grade in Elementary School at the time, and my dad gave our tickets to a BYU fan family on the condition that they took me along.

Despite there being plenty of more dramatic and important games since, I don’t think I’ll ever experience a game that satisfying.  In fact, only this year do I finally feel like we finally got them back since we matched their nine win streak from the 80s.

This isn’t over until Bernard apologizes for punching the number 2 on the field. Typical classless Utes.

*Edit: this was sarcasm, guys. Lighten up! I guess it was a dumb joke.

Or just park somewhere in Old Town Pasadena along a street for free and do the 30 minute walk to the stadium. It’s really not bad.

Do you think this will be the case with the Rose Bowl as well?  I’m worried it may be an exception to this rule.

I’ve usually done the same thing.  Even the Sugar Bowl had people unloading tickets before the game for way below face value, but I’m worried the Rose Bowl would be different than most other bowl games and that it may be risky to wait.

I guess it seems lame to blame the weather, but I’m starting to get old so I’m going to.  The weather this year has sucked.  I have had a hard time getting motivated to go to the games in the first place, and when I’m there have had a hard time being motivated to cheer enthusiastically because it was either too hot or too cold.

The first two games were in like 90′ heat and it would have been great to have been at night instead.

The last three games have been freezing cold and/or wet, but would have been perfect during the day.

I know the reason start times are what they are, but it really sucks that early season games aren’t all at night and late season games in the day to account for the weather.  I think it would really help with the atmosphere if people were comfortable.  We don’t have enough die-hards to have a ton of energy in conditions that are less than ideal.

I’m well aware.  Was just surprised I never saw a video/gif posted along with that great still photo.
