The Fieldhouse is a protected historic building that just went through major renovations for preservation. It’s not going anywhere.
Hoping the new videoboard doesn’t obstruct the UTAH letters on the fieldhouse roof.

perceptionate replied to the topic Utah v. Oregon in the forum Football 3 years ago
If we are talking *BEST* case scenario for the conference, then it is for an 11-2 Oregon team to still make the CFP after losing to Utah at Rice Eccles but then winning in the conference championship game. Utah would then be ranked at 9-4 going into the Rose Bowl (which would be far more respectable than an 8-5 unranked team).
This is extremely…[Read more]

There’s a leadership component to this as well. One of the cool things about this season is that we have really been able to witness Cam Rising’s awesome character and leadership. Even when he was the back-up, he was always engaged on the sideline, helping the team out, etc. When he got in the game, you saw the team energize around him and believe…[Read more]

perceptionate replied to the topic So Moa is no longer committed… That is kind of shocking, but also not so bad in the forum Football 3 years, 1 month ago
Yes, I’m serious — and this is a lot more simple than y’all are making it. I saw a lot of Ohio State fans and commentators noting that their recruiting might take a hit because of the Cincinnati offer. And that is Ohio State.
We can argue mitigating factors, but it is a simple reality: When a football program in your state improves,…[Read more]

Dude you just edited your post to make it look like you were right in your comment and I was wrong in my reply to you — which is the opposite of what happened. That’s really not cool.

“Football reasons” is the key caveat. It’s one of a mix of factors that recruits consider when making their decision. Utah is still the better program for sure (and in the better conference) but BYU’s program, national profile, and ability to compete is *significantly* improved with the Big 12 offer. Now, some of the “non-football reasons” may…[Read more]

I thought this was obvious. The in-state Mormon talent is now going to be even more favored for BYU. Moa is a perfect example. Remember 5+ years ago when we “stole” Covey from BYU? That’s not happening anymore.

Your hostility is irritating. I’m just trying to point out a silver lining after a bad loss. (And btw your reasoning is circular: my discussion point was that Rising may have, in fact, beaten out Brewer in the off-season but the coaching staff missed it.)

Truly awesome quarterback play at the end there. We have reason to be optimistic for the rest of the season. If Rising had been the QB for the full game (and for the game against BYU), we’d be undefeated.
And, regardless of results, he’s just fun to watch.
At some level, I wonder what amount of blame we should place on the coaching staff for…[Read more] -

perceptionate replied to the topic Two concerns about Huntley in the forum Football 7 years, 1 month ago
Nah I think Huntley is pretty safe. If anything, it helps a lot that we got to see Troy Williams play so fans don’t hold Huntley up to too high of a standard.

Dude the pass was there. It was the right decision and the right play call. If Williams didn’t panic (like he always does) — or if we had Huntley at qb on that play — we would be celebrating an awesome victory right now.

perceptionate replied to the topic Starting Bateman would probably be the most boneheaded coaching move in Utah in the forum Football 7 years, 1 month ago
Why do we care about pissing players off? This is a merit-based system. Whoever earns the position should play. Given Williams’s disaster of a performance against Stanford, it shouldn’t take much for Bateman to rightfully earn the spot.

These FPI ratings severely underrate the Utes. They have us at #54 — that’s just trash.

I had the opposite reaction. Leaders need to celebrate with their teams–especially when the defense and field goal kicker won that for them in OT.
