perceptionate replied to the topic Details about Rose's injury makes me even more disappointed in our coaching staff in the forum Football 1 month, 1 week ago
This is the tipping point for me. I’m done giving any benefit of the doubt to the coaching staff re: the onslaught of injuries the teams have suffered over the past several years. This is reckless and shameful–revelatory of the coaches utterly failing to prioritize player health and well-being.

perceptionate replied to the topic If it is going to take a huge NIL offer to get JJ back in the forum Football 1 year ago
From a fan perspective, I disagree. The narrative of our team is so much better with JJ. There’s a lot of history. If we get to the CFP next season, it would be so much sweeter with JJ.

I don’t understand why Johnson didn’t wait until the end of the year to announce he was transferring. If he had done that, he would have been able to play on Saturday and likely in the bowl game as well. This could have only helped him as a player — even if he was set on transferring. Was there a falling out or an argument with the coaches?

perceptionate replied to the topic Here’s something crazy in the forum Football 1 year, 3 months ago
I think that the state of Utah has a lot of good players that are trainable, physical, and high IQ — but just don’t translate to high recruiting stars out of high school. This also explains why BYU (with abysmal recruiting rankings) can sometimes (albeit rarely) put together good teams.

perceptionate replied to the topic Recruits can now take as many official visits as they want in the forum Football 1 year, 7 months ago
I bet this will be good for the U. Most of our recruits are out of state, so we might not naturally be in the top 5 schools to begin with. But the U’s campus is exceptionally beautiful and cool, plus we have an awesome gameday and stadium atmosphere. The more visits the better for us, I think.

Can you all please give this man the respect he deserves? He’s a four star recruit; top prospect in the state. To the extent he’s hearing anything negative from Ute fans in the recruiting process, I hope he realizes that will disappear instantly if he signs with us (and we’d all LOVE to see him blow out the Y in red).

Thanks for the summary! Sounds like he referred to his time in Utah in past tense? Did you get the sense that he’s for sure going to the draft (and not taking the final year + NIL$ option)?

There isn’t an equivalence here. If you don’t defend someone being attacked disproportionately for “wrong” speech, then the attackers will win. This just isn’t a situation where it makes sense to be neutral.
Frankly, we should know this with our relationship to BYU. Yeah, don’t be intentionally offensive to BYU alum. But when they come after…[Read more]

Talks of the merger have officially ended.
Hoping we just jump to the Big 12 now with the four corners. All this expansion for $$ just makes me want to go back to the roots and tradition of college football. There isn’t a sporting event in the state better than the Holy War. -
perceptionate replied to the topic Are the Pac 12 teams a fit for the Big 12 in the forum Football 2 years, 5 months ago
The Big 12 would be a good option, and if it happens, I’d look forward to watching some Utah/Baylor matchups. But not sure why you’re coming to our forum and saying you don’t want Utah in your conference. That’s not a good look — and it’s rich considering you’re accusing *us* of being arrogant/exclusionary.
Maybe Baylor will become one of our…[Read more]

I’d pick C or D.
Curious why they’re only speculating USC + Washington. I would be extremely surprised if USC did that. IMO, what’s more likely is USC + all the California schools. I’m sure the BIG would love to have all those prestigious universities join + U$C football. USC likes this b/c tOSU. Berkeley, Stanford, and UCLA like this b/c Mic…[Read more]

perceptionate replied to the topic Sideline Sports Network Tabs Cam as Possible QB1 in 2023 Draft in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
I believe it. To be real, it would take a huge leap forward this season, but from what I’ve seen, Rising has the caliber to make the needed improvements.
Stroud and Young throw to 5* receivers with visible height, speed, and size advantages over the defense. Rising does not have that luxury. And as @fthey pointed out, it’s the intangibles.…[Read more]

perceptionate replied to the topic The WFT name change got me thinking about the Utes in the forum Football 2 years, 10 months ago
I heard several years ago that we have a contingency plan in place to change the name to “Red Hawks” in just such a circumstance–if the Ute tribe tells us to change the name.

Don’t you think it’s possible he might come here and just redshirt for one year? Assuming Rising leaves after next year, that would put Dart in a great position to be QB1 going forward.

It’s awesome. If Utah State wins their bowl game, all three programs will be ranked. First time in history.

perceptionate replied to the topic Ohio State or Iowa? in the forum Football 3 years ago
Iowa. If we play Iowa, that means they beat Michigan in the Big 10 championship. So there would be a lot of buzz and excitement around both teams. I’m not really sure how motivated Ohio State would be in comparison.

I vaguely recall Whit being very angry at the athletic department when Kalani left because they weren’t giving him a big enough budget to retain high quality assistant coaches. So, if I’m not misremembering anything, Whit definitely valued Kalani as a coach and wanted him to stay.
